Homemade Trike
My first welding project, and my most prided The Trike ( aka Project Death Trap ) Built from three bike frames, a piece of bed frame, some old car belts and pulleys, ALOT of time and thought, her she is! My fav free-time project i've ever built.. alot of fun i had doing it, and still to this damn DAY alot of fun to ride it.

Anti-static bags are conductive.. but buy how much? How much current can they handle? Well Bad news is, they can handle very high voltage static, but my Jacob's Ladder only puts out around 6.2Kv. Its was NOT the show i was expecting, but HEY! it was just an experiment!

    What does the arc look like with just one of those microwave capacitors? And how are your transformers fairing without a ballast? (Usually, they get real hot real quick and start flipping breakers.) Have you experimented with making your own high voltage capacitors?

    it took me a few days to find spark with my M.O.T.S , took 8 months before I found the unique sound that is resonance. I now have two resonant Mot circuits that draw off separate 40amp breakers(separate phases) The M.O.T's are connected parallel on the primary and series secondary. I get 4x the output. 3' Arcs . you wont be disappointed, I promise. gj. Have fun.

    is it necessary to use variac? why you use capacitor ?can i do it just with the 10kv neon sign transformer? Thank you!

    • @justinbates9
      @justinbates9 6 лет назад

      giorgosxristou the capacitor is there to release all that stored power at one time and then charge up and do it again.. if you used just the transformer it would do a Jacobs ladder when it popped a bug.. Ive tried before..I’m wondering what size capacitor to use.. I have everything I need except that.

    • @giorgosxristou
      @giorgosxristou 6 лет назад

      Thank you for the answer!maybe a 10kv and about size of the capacitor not really important,but not a huge one...check this ruclips.net/video/1m6y_DIG950/видео.html

    MOT's are not the best to use for this type of thing. Yes they are all over the place but they are poorly built in the secondary winding = little or no interior insulation. One good thing an MOT is good for besides a door stopper is you can completely eliminate the secondary (remove it) and re wrap your secondary core with a heavy gauge wire and have a low voltage high current transformer that can actually melt things like wrenches and screwdrivers, or use it as an arc welder. For a decent HV transformer you could get your hands on a toroidial type mains transformer (common in commercial PA gear) and remove the secondary windings and re wrap your secondary until you get the voltage you want. I have one I pulled out of a burned Carven 1Kw PA amplifier and I re-wrapped it to give me 16.5 Volts on one tap and 28 volts on a second tap but I continued on wrapping it to a final output of 5.5 KV. The 16.5 and 28 volts are used with rectifiers to give me 13.8 volts DC and 24 volts DC. So essentially I have a multi-output 5.5 KV power supply and its all mounted in the original amplifier rack mount case. The speaker lugs on the rear are where the 13.8 and 24 volts come out. Two added insulator lugs in the front are where the 5.5 KV is.

    Hope you replaced all paper caps. You can't expect clean sound if you're still using all of the old paper caps. Capacitors make far more difference in audio quality (fuzzy, distorted, etc.) than tubes. A weak tube will play just fine when the rest of the circuit is performing properly.

  • @jeffjohnson8644
    @jeffjohnson8644 10 лет назад

    Nice, store bought units are too small. I would like more details of the zap grid. I see the outside layer, how close is the second grid? Is this designed and kill mosquitoes? I detailed write up of this project would be appreciated. What is the theory to using using a neon transformer? It would draw more bugs if the black light was in the middle. I'm very interested to learn more about your zapper.
