Not many people know that Schaller sells the “S-Lock classics” that are the new locking mechanisms for the strap ends, but have pins for the guitar that are very much like the old style. They come without screws, the idea being you can use the stock screws with them. This is the best setup IMO, for the following reasons:
    1. The pins are now plated hardened steel vs played brass of the old style. The old pins would wear deep grooves and become sloppy and eventually fail from wear, especially the upper ones on a LP because of the angle of the strap. These should be much better.
    2. Using the stock screw preserves the hole in the guitar and makes going back to stock seamless
    3. You don’t have the issue pointed out in this video to deal with. With most stock screws, the spring loaded pin on the strap mechanisms can fully drop down.
I don’t believe any strap lock system is totally perfect, but this setup is the closest. I’ve never seen the classics advertised, but you can order them direct from the schaller website.

@@grim_pickins648 this is only in the last 2 months and probably only cause myself and many others have been complaining. What are they gonna do about all the faulty ones they have sold me and everyone else in the meantime?

@@josephbutler148 yeah I feel for you man. The classics have been around for about a year, I bought some for my LP around that time. Still, major bummer for the people that bought the “regular” s-locks that have found them faulty.
