I don't mention it much, but I went to fashion school as an adult. Encroaching mental illness makes it so that I never make anything now, but I _love_ watching Morgan. It's like being back in a fashion school class with your favorite teacher. She sprinkles a constant stream of sewing genius advice in everything she does. She's a natural teacher. You can't watch her without becoming better. I had a few great teachers in fashion school, but sadly, many teachers couldn't hold a candle to Morgan. You're quite lucky to have her on here.

On laying corset pattern pieces on the fabric, we were taught in sewing school that yes most times it’s better to go just straight grain, but there are instances where in corsets you can play with the grain a little to make the corset fit better, especially if you need very curvy pieces or some funky cuts. The only caviat is that you need to deffinitely know what you’re doing to do ot succesfully.

Hi, since discovering your channel, I have watched them all at least twice. I love your presentations and the "let's just give it a try" attitude. Your, "even if it doesn't work as well as you want it to, at least you've learned what NOT to do". I will miss the green beastie because when you were wearing it, we knew shenanigans were afoot. I have now become very interested in period clothing and love researching the different eras of fashion and hairstyles. I think the new corset is beautifully made and will be an asset to any further projects. . I do hope there are more shenanigans planned as I enjoy them so much

I just can't believe how this channel has grown! To have found it when there was only about 30k followers (maybe not even that many) to seeing where its at now makes me very happy. A highly deserving channel ❤️ much love and adoration. I hope I'm able to earn enough money to contribute to patreon some day soon!

I've taken to using plastic embroidery fabric to trace from, if I don't want to destroy an original. It's stiff, and see-through, so it's quite easy to tack an original to it and trace.
Just as a reminder, if you're redrafting a curved seam, a flexicurve ruler is a lifesaver.
A cording foot is a very good tool to get the spacing professional. As you say, the coutil base remains flat, so can be cut from the pattern, the top fabric takes the trace. Likewise, a rolled hem foot applying binding avoids the stitch-in.
Also, for beginners, use a set of compasses to parallel line, when tracing the grommet fold-backs. The pin side simply follows the line, and the pencil drafts the new parallel.
Grommeting several hundred years ago used a buttonhole stitch, which helps the awl hole hold, and in leatherwork we sometimes use the rear washer on both sides of the hole, so the rear of the eyelet part bears on the washer rather than the fabric.

I really appreciate seeing this video. I bought cheap stays that I knew wouldn't quite work, found out they're made with stretchy fabric. But the pattern is good, so now I have a better idea of how to reconstruct it.
