One thing I think we all need For himalayan is some kind of aftermarket rear suspension guard which can protect the suspension from all kind of mud, slush everytime we go muddy off road or in rainy season. It is very annoying for me to look at the dirty rear suspension and it is also hard to clean and detoriate suspension life
It is better not to use something like that. Makes inspection and maintenance very difficult. You won't notice something going wrong until it is already late.
sir ive did my 4th service on my himalayan which was not ridden much as was 5200kms they changed fork oil is it essential ? to change fork oil on 4th free service as over all they costed 4230 Rs , as i still doubt them if the service centers are now into plunder business of Re ? and they added 2 bottle of 500ml into each suspension besides i feel bit handle got smooth less bouncy than before oil change as felt that handle got bit lower side , whats the correct fork oil ml should we put ?
I've changed my forkoil from local workshop by a RE expert mechanic and i also changed the bearing of the top conset. Totally it costed around 1600-1700 only.
It certainly is a handsome shock,,,and it so easy to fit... you never have to use naughty words when fitting this shock...and can be fitted on the bike in less then about 12 hours..good luck
Ben, how is the YSS rear suspension holding the test of time? Any major serivce with respect to oil, gas, seals or spring change on the shock since you installed?
You should own an Interceptor 650 so that you can broaden our knowledge. Your videos are very informative and your DIY approach is what is really practical and really helping us viewers in real world conditions. I watch your videos and I don’t even own a Himalayan (yet?). Just installed the front suspension kit and the rear shock. Really dissappointed with how stiff the ride is still. Feel like I wasted a lot of money. I'm going to see if I can make the forks work but I'm worried that I'll have to get a different shock. I would never buy again.
The YSS kit is not for comfort . It is for better handling and performance. Faster over any kind of off road terrain . And customisable from that perspective and not for plush riding. You were wronged by YOUR LACK OF RESEARCH or by a unethical retailer .

The recommended fork oil capacity per leg is 455ml.

i fitted mine in less than 1 hour. it was that easy. and yes it certainly is a well machined unit.
