Well, I actually liked Clay more than Zach, however I can totally see that Zach is a good person and had a lot of chemistry with Hannah. He was a damn coward for leaving her that way, but still a good person.

My boy Clay got played. But i guess good guys ends up getting played. Clay deserved better as Hannah Loved Zach. She only saw Clay as a trustable friend. That's why she chose zach and freaked out when Clay Kissed her as she had feelings for Zach. So, my boy Clay was indeed on the loosing side for being a one sided lover.
