- This is the fifth video in a series on my 2022 westbound through-hike of the 1200 mile Pacific Northwest Trail. It's a vlog that details my experience hiking the trail and tries to share some of the beauty and meaning that I found along the route.
This installment covers the section between the Kootenai River in Idaho just north of the town of Bonners Ferry and the small town of Metaline Falls in Washington which sits on the Pend Oreille River. This is a somewhat notorious part of the PNT due to the Lionshead bushwhack, part of the route through the Selkirk mountains with no trail and multiple options for through-hikers to consider.
In this episode the trip is more personal-- this is a meaty section of trail where commitment becomes more and more important, and I am pushing through various physical and mental challenges. I'm just a guy backpacking a long ways because I saved up enough money to do so-- but the stakes of being present in the world are high, I think. We only get one shot. Things change as we age. Not only are there the social and environmental stakes, but also personal and spiritual ones. Hopefully my attempt to show my own journey is enjoyable-- I learned a lot in editing and composing for this episode and future parts will hopefully be tighter!
Thanks very much for watching!
Excellent!
Great footage, great editing… 👍🤟
Thank you for making these videos. Not enough PNT videos out there.
Another great episode Keeg! Really lovely stuff - interesting music, funny, and beautiful.
Thanks again for watching and the love!

So am I! Really made the day better as you can see since I didn't get into town early enough to have food there haha. ❤️
Two questions, why did you add background music and why is it louder than the dialogue?
