Lol same reason I'm here. Just brought a new lid today the same size as my old one but if feels so much tighter. Needs some time for the padding to shape to your head.
Easy tip: My Shark Evo 1 Two was too tight when new. I deflated a basketball...then inflated it inside the helmet (not all the way...just to expand the padding). Just over night the helmet fit perfectly.
I got a shark city cruiser (open face/jet) today online. Measured my head which ever way its a straight 57cm. All good up here . Very snug kinda tight and i noticed my ears hurt. Not sure to go a size up. (59-60cm but my head aint that big lol) maybe i should try this. I think snug/tight fit is a better choice then loose am i right?
@@jamesbryanbasit3859 the helmet for the first 3/4 weeks was so tight my ears felt like they were gonna drop off. But now it's worn in and it is perfect snug fit. I'm so lucky I didn't go a size up! Moral of the story, the helmet has to be broken in!
@@erayseyma hi, also me right now my headsize is 58cm, so i get large size helmet which is 58-60cm compatibility but i have struggle to put it on and out my ears always flops inside .. my helmet is Scorpion RX510 Air.
That’s bad advice in my eyes, you want the helmet to wear in to the contours of your face not a basketball! And what if it over stretched it? That could make the helmet potentially be too big!
Thanks for the video and the straps tip. I regretted taking off my helmet because my ears would hurt. Now I pull out on the straps instead of the helmet itself. Great job!!
Watching you put that helmet on was hilarious haha. I just bought a brand new helmet and went through the exact same thing. I was almost scared I wouldnt be able to get it off once it was on. The head portion fits perfectly and is snug but comfortable, but my cheeks are getting smushed in so bad I have fish lips. Breaking in new motorcyle gear sucks.
@Bjorn Wolfstadt This is my fear! I bought my 1st motorcycle helmet for the 1st time. Measured everything appropriately for measurements before buying... But trying to get it on, I'm struggling to fit my head inside. I looked at the cm size, remeasured my head size, everything was correct... But I'm so scared that if I force my head inside, I won't be able to get it back out again! 😅
I just bought my first helmet! Went for the smallest size available because I'm a smurf! Can't wait to try it out!!! I don't drive yet or have a bike but my other half races his car on tracks and I've been on his bike a few times now too ☺
I race motocross and recently got a leatt pro helmet that was around £400 it is really narrow to get on and really squeeses my head when putting on but once on its fine but im now thinking its giving me migraines with the pressure it takes to get on its really squeezing my head but only takes 1 second to put on
Tip If you’ve never put one and and your nervous and a little clostaphobic then try large or x large initially to get the overall feel, and leave the visor open
I love this! I bought a new Shoei rf1200 in a medium previously had a scorpion exo-r710 helmet in a large and I thought it fit good and then it loosened up so its really comfy but i feel like its a little loose so i went down a size and this shoei fits tight so i was looking up on google how to know if a helmet is too tight and found your video and this is hilarious! Really enjoyed your video and i think my helmet will loosen up it wasn't that difficult to put on lol
LOL, this was exactly me this week at the track with my sqeaky rew RF1200. My reaction was EAXCTLY the same, hence my visit to and comment on this video and thread. So reassured, thank you 😂...
When you take it off it feels like an eternity and everyone’s watching. Anyway, the crown of my helmet it extremely tight. Unsure what I can do about that other than wearing it
Throw it in the trash and get next size up. You won’t hate helmets so bad then. If I have to be miserable then I will trash my bike also and quit. If the helmet is uncomfortable when you try it on, it probably will never work for you. I made the mistake of using the size chart and ordering online. Couldn’t return it when it was waay too tight. I was told you will get used to it. I quit riding because of that stupid piece of crap helmet. I bought a cheap helmet the next size up at a dealership and I was able to ride comfortably. I will never order anything to wear online again.

Is this normal, I got an XXL helmet, and it's tight to get into, but once my head is in, it's pretty comfortable. My other helmet is not tight at all to put onto my head.
Hi DJ. I just made this video for fun because the little booklet that came with the helmet made it sound so dire if your helmet wasn't tight enough, lol. It actually fits just fine.
One should get the brand/model that fits their head best. Today I got a 2014 HJC RPHA 10+ and it's the most comfy helmet I've ever had and looks smaller on the outside than most. My older Arai seems like torture compared to it. It should be tight but not oppressive.
Thanks for the recommendation, Ted! This helmet actually fits me pretty well. The comments in the booklet that came with it seemed almost foreboding in their insistence of a tight fit that they inspired me to make this video. I admit to hamming it up for the camera.
Old video but what I was looking for. If you are reading in 2022. I just got the new klim adv pro. I got the largest they had (limited supply chain in march 2022) Love all of the features for ADV riding. Get the helmet, unbox and "try and put on" Like this video it stops at the crown of my head. It is carbon fiber, super light and why I paid $800 bucks with tax!. I forced it over my poor ears, once inside, it fits right. But, cannot take for a test ride for at least an hour, otherwise cannot send back. That is my dilemma. I can hope for breakin, but the cheeks seem fine. Any thoughts are appreciated. My HJC modular fits great, but at 4# makes my neck hurt at 62 years of age. The Klim is 2#8oz, lighter than my scorpion half helmet. Guess I will try to live with it and see if it does in fact "break in" If I miss the return window, another viewer posted the bball hack. that will be my only recourse left. thanks all
Ok. I measured my head size like 50 times no matter which way it is 57cm... which is a Medium helmet size. Come thru today. Very snug tight etc. Balaclava on and my ears seem to hurt? Is it too early to return and go a size up which is 59-60cm (L) but my head is 57cm. Frustrating tbh. Should i just be patient and wait for the foam somehow loosen lol. Or go a size up (which i think maybe kinda touch and go as if there is too much movement i think its a no no) help anyone?
For most helmet brands 57-58cm is a medium so you`ve got the correct size. Helmets are traditionally tight to begin with, its often the padding that pinches against your cheeks until they eventually mould to the shape of your face. A snug fit is the best fit and you`re right not to go bigger. If you can move a helmet from front to back and from side to side and get fingers up under the brow then its too big. A lose incorrectly fitting helmet could cost you your life. Persevere my friend.
yup.. just got my icon airflite and boy is it difficult to get it on. Once inside it is so comfortable. So happy that I have small ears. Couldn't imagine having big stick out dumbo ears!
I just got my new full face helmet. It’s so tight and I think I bought the wrong size. I am so afraid to try to put it on because I am scared my head will not be able to come out. 😂
Probably too late to return it but you might have to eat the cost and start over. I suggest finding someone who knows what the hell their doing when it comes to sizing.
I just bought my first helmet ever!!! Bilt Legacy....pops was on point. That was me first couple of times putting on and pulling off. I can tell it's loosening up slightly every time.
A medium helmet makes me not want to ride anymore. At least with a helmet on that is. A large is a hair too big. I can deal with too big much better. At leat I don’t get a headache from the large ones. You can waste a lot of money on the wrong size, especially if you try to order online. Most sales are final. Go to a shop and try on what you are wanting. Trust me. I measured my head just like the directions, and ended up throwing away a 400 POS Bell helmet in medium because that was what the chart stated. I couldn’t even wear my glasses with that helmet. When I tried exchanging, I got the “All sales are Final” crap. I was told that I could donate my helmet to a deadbeat, but I chose to saw it in half and throw it in the trash.
That helmet is WAY TOO FUCKIN TIGHT. Yes it needs to be a tight fit... but you shouldnt need an hour to lever it onto your head, thats just dangerous and will cause you to develop hypoxia.
Your demo will probably serve to keep riders not inclined to wear a full face helmet from ever doing so. You made it seem as if putting on and taking off a helmet is an excruciatingly painful ordeal.
