- The Spring 2024 Haute Couture season was one for the books! And it started off with Schiaparelli by Daniel Roseberry taking on the theme of the "Schiaparalien" which relates back to Elsa Schiaparelli's uncle's discovery of land formations on the planet Mars and his coining of the term "Martian".
But besides from the celebrities like Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, and Jennifer Lopez the most memorable moments saw technology and crystal encrusted dresses, and a fake robot baby!

Thanks for the Schiaparelli review now I will be seated for the Margiela review❤❤❤
Me too! That is a SHOW!
Same! I gasped at Margiela and almost brought me to tears! So waiting for his take!!!
Yes please!
That one was really something, right? I know almost nothing about fashion but that one spoke to me. Leon Dame opened and I was stuck.
Gwendoline Christie looked like a Victorian sci-if madame. It was amazing
This house is so innovative and truly iconic. It somehow reminds me how much I found Iris Van Herpen's show a few years ago so remarkable.
Thank you so much for this! Now do Maison Margiela…please!
You beat me to it!
@@Warren_90210 That one is the show!
I watched the Margiela show yesterday and THAT was amazing! Please do a reaction and educate us all what is going on!
Ugh your fashion week reviews are my fave 🙌🏻😭 hopefully we also get margiela and jpg 🖤
The nubbins in the "Pegging Suit" are actually "Dressage Braids", a nod to the styling of the Horse's Mane when dressed for equestrian competition which showcases the mastery of certain graceful maneuvers performed by the team of Horse and Rider. Beautiful! ( I didn't already know that, I did a "Deep Dive". So Fun! )
I appreciate that you explain the references and know so much. It changes fashion for me. Things i might think are bizarre have a reference to something and a concept behind them. I can appreciate that.
Same!
Seriously love this house since like forever, together with Vionett and more modern Margiela, old Gauthier, Alexander M just makes me happy and intrigued
Part of me can't help but think where was this line during covid? With the neck line over the face and the spines on the back that keep the people behind you from getting too close. I love it!
😊
Schiaparelli is my favourite haute couture house. Thank you for your thoughts, I really enjoyed listening to your insights. ❤ How about a review of the Tony Ward S/S2024 Haute Couture? There are some interesting gowns in that collection.
Of all the sheer dresses of the past few years, the faux long scarf dress is the first one I've loved because there is a reason for the sheerness rather than shock or showing off.
The buckle pants are giving me more mariachi than Evel Knievel. If they didn't acknowledge that, what the hell!
I wasn’t getting either of those, I was getting cowboy! 🤠 How cool though that fashion can get people thinking and sharing ideas 🙏
Agree, It’s “New Spain” vibes before the South West became part of the U.S.
this made me finally understand fashion shows and why people watch it
I really love your fashion show reviews. They're so informative and fun!
This was the best fashion week in recent memory. So excited to watch your reviews
Great review Luke❣️Thanks for all the historical references which add so much knowledge and understanding to the show, bravo👏
Yes! I learn so so much from Luke that I honestly would never have known. I appreciate him and this page oh so much. Thank you for what you do and existing 🖤
I sort of love that this outfit with all the belting and belt buckles the fact that they also did like a belt with the pants comes off as funny and cheeky. Like oh they added a belt to the outfit that is all belt buckles. It’s cutesy and I like it.
Just from a practicality standpoint the back spine piece is a must have for those public restrooms with no place to hang a purse. I'll take twelve.
I really like how In depth you go into each garments referencing designers and a little history about the brand.
This collection makes me regret not paying more attention to fashion when I was younger. I would think that to be able watch this collection walk live would be a gift. It gives me all the feels. Genius.
I really hope you will do a reaction video of the Margiela show. It was divine.
Word "divine" to define satan, bravo
Love the Schiaparelli Spring 2024 collection. Love it even more after watching your video. Your videos are so informative. Keep up the amazing work.
I have just a little knowledge of haute couture but I love learning. Your knowledge of fashion is extraordinary
I think the silk knots are referencing horses' button braids or dressage braids, the little knots on a horse's mane that are often used in shows, and it ties it in with the cowboy/Texas theme of some of the garments. Brilliant show and great review, learnt so much!
Love your couture reviews!! Looking forward to more couture reviews in the future! ❤
I really enjoy your videos. It has given me an appreciation for what goes into these collections.
Luke! You have got to make a video on Gaurav Gupta's recent showing! Absolute stunner! Just stumbled on that designer from Jeanni Mai. I adore Schiaparalli and some of his stuff give off similar vibe.
You do need to review the John Galliano for Martin Margiela, that pundits are saying is THE SHOW of the season.
Stunning! Magnificent. Love the fabric, the buckles. That satin suit! A feast for the eyes.
As a fan, I dont remember Evel Knievel had many buckles... 1 large one and large stipes on the side of his pants.
Maison Margiela by John Galliano next, please!🙏💃We are patiently waiting, thank you. 👏
19:50 time mark. so in Daniel's sister's TikTok, he explained that black dress is actually the previous white dress with the big wings up on the sides flipped upside-down, turning it into a shirk. just marvelous
I loved your interpretation of the tech baby. This collection was actually nice!
I loved this collection so much I had so write a review on it. I love your work so much ❤
I definitely got echoes of Alexander McQueen 'dangerous woman' from the beginning, but less aggressive and more 'mysterious' or 'armored' here. Enjoyed this collection a lot.
Love love love this collection. The skirts were perfection.
The beige dress with the crystallised panty - The shoulder straps are stiffened somehow and sit around two inches above the model's shoulders. Also there's fabric gathered at the back into a kind of bustle. And a train. Just saying there was more to it.
That old tech sparkly gorgeous dress - a real stunner. Luke might even describe it (in the Irish/British accent) Stunnning ☘️😂
Fingers crossed you are going to do Margiela, it blew everything else at couture week out of the water
THANK YOU! So enjoyed your commentary, wonderful show!
these collections are divine
The white Alcatel phone worn as a brooch, clever. My husband had a few of those in black. He kept loosing phones when inebriated so he didn’t get to upscale through the years (he would have been 62 for reference)
This is the morning news I look forward to
One technical comment - if you review a dark collection please do also a darker background behind you (like bookshelf) because we need to turn brightness very high and white background just blinds and takes eye attention from the details of clothes 😊
That white paillette dress looked like a Leigh Bowery look to me. So fab!
I like the way you talk about fashion but I did add a comments several weeks ago that I like seeing more of the dresses or fashion and of the fashion talk
per chatgpt:
Giovanni Schiaparelli (1835-1910) was an Italian astronomer and science historian. He is best known for his observations and studies of the planet Mars. Schiaparelli's most famous contribution to Martian astronomy is the description of the surface features he observed, which he called "canali" (Italian for channels or grooves). However, a translation error led to the popularization of the term as "canals" in English, implying the possibility of artificial constructions.
Schiaparelli's observations sparked significant controversy and speculation about the possibility of intelligent life on Mars, with some scientists and the public interpreting the "canals" as evidence of an advanced Martian civilization. Later, advancements in telescopic technology and more accurate observations revealed that the "canals" were, in fact, optical illusions or misinterpretations of natural features on the Martian surface.
Despite the controversy surrounding the canals, Schiaparelli made other important contributions to astronomy, including his work on meteor showers and the study of the Moon. His observations laid the groundwork for later astronomers, and he remains an important figure in the history of planetary astronomy.
The order of garments was off on this show. The technology dress was just kind of plopped unceremoniously into the center of the show when it would have been an exclamation point of an end note while the last couple garments felt so unceremonious by comparison, when Daniel walked out my partner was like 'wait, that's it?' The technology dress and that white lace veil dress were so underserved by their placements in the show.
The dress that you addressed as "She was the moment" looks like the top of cowboy boots, I kept waiting to see if you saw that too.
Wow. What a great, innocative body of work. And you presented it so well. Thank you.
Luke, have a look at some Elias Sime's art if you are interested in the use of different historical technology mediums in art. He uses old keyboard keys, wires, motherboards, calculators, watches etc to create some of his work, especially in the Eregata exhibition. Very cool
Hi Luke, I’ve never heard a designer showing a style or technique in a couture runway show to exhibit what the brand can do as In choices. Have you had conversations with designers regarding this? That would’ve interesting to talk about.
That dress at 4:45 looks very close to a posture collar. And that last dress is great if you're trying to avoid someone haha
Is look 9 latex or is it actually vinyl? It’s so crazy how they have created the different fabrics to look like completely different ones by the way the light reflects on them 😍 Also love the idea of the Gen Alpha baby & the fact the dress if kind of a nod to our generation (Just realised we were born in the same year). It’s kind of mad to think those old ‘brick phones’ as we use to call them could become rare artefacts in the future or even now aha … need to look out my old ones! It made me think of my first pink Motorola flip phone 💖
So many stunning gowns! Thankyou for your insights!
I thought the feather dress was made from sort of shell... Amazing review !! Can't wait for the Margiela's
Please make a video about Maison Margiela Artisanal show!! The whole thing, just perfection❤️
I loved this. I am a servant girl, but learning. Question: Who is the client for these looks? I understand the more commercial, pret a porter sections of the house fund the Haute Couture, but do people buy these? I am trying to imagine someone in the lace dress at a dinner party or a fundraiser and I get a bit baffled. Are the looks changed for clients to be more "wearable". I am not being cynical as this soooo over my head and bank account--I am earnestly curious?
Schiaparelli show was amazing (as always) but, c'mon, Galliano stole the whole couture week with his show
You know that there is enough space for 2 amazing collections in fashion world? Not everything needs to be competition, jeez 🙄
You know how you see a new trend and you appreciate it because it's fresh and new, but you won't mind it becoming passé either. That is how I feel about those rounded out sleeves. However, I do feel like it would be next to impossible for a designer to not be inspired by their peers. There is just so many great designers in the world.
I love watching your reactions 🥰
I wish you were my best friend and that I could talk to you about fashion all day ugh I love this freakin channel
Can we take a moment to appreciate Guinevere Van Seenus, who at 48, is still working and letting us wonder at her beauty... @14:09
Love the show! ❤❤❤ Hope you do a longer video of maison margela haute Couture show
i feel like i speak for everyone when i say i need in depth reactions to Margiela's theatrics and Robert Wuns collection
Will you do Miss Sohee? I think she is the one who won this fashion week.
Where was the Bowie reference on that suit?!? Love your reviews❤❤❤
This was a great collection from them, not my all time fav, but nat my least fav by any means. The ingenuity of the constructions, especially in the gowns and other one piece garments is beautifully done. And like you pointed out, I love that the references were layered on top of each other, yet still created cohesive looks.
I love how all these innovative and intriguing haute couture shows are happening when both the sun and Pluto are in Aquarius
You had me at robot baby
Hello Luke, thank you for this review Luke! I would also like to see you review Margiela Artisanal 2024 :)
These dresses give Dune aristocracy vibe
This is great and PLEASE REVIEW MARGIELA SHOW!!!!
Luke, please please can you do a breakdown of the Margiela Couture presentation
Great video as always. Loved this collection ❤
@14:30 i wanted a close-up of those ear cuffs. Luv me a good ear-cuff
Incredible collection!
The feather-not-feather dress is giving Schiap rose vase dress (face) 🌸
I miss the old theme song but like I get it new season new style new era
I just always sing along😭
Me too lol😊
Spankin' new sub...Yee Ha!! Ref to...well, YOU know. LUV'd the collection, yet... more so your vast knowledge of fashion design. Fabric, adornments & anecdotal connections to haute couture history are captivating. Thank you for sharing your passion with us. It's the epitome of educational entertainment.🏆 R E S P E C T !!
More please, Sir?
Loved the lace up coat, I will take it please and thank you!
I've seen Reels of the SP24 Dior show on IG that take a closer look at the beading they did for a few of their looks. I'd love to see a deep dive into their show!
I would love for you to speak about the Rick Owens | Fall Winter 2024/2025 | Menswear collection.
A stunning collection.
also I need a tshirt that says “it’s weird, it’s whacky, it’s wonderful”
the drama Show we need xx
Amazing show amazing review but I can not believe those technology pieces were hard to find. Hard to find new maybe?
Old tech will become the new Gold Rush.. one day in the future me thinks
Schiaparelli or rather Daniel Rosenberg for Schiaparelli is the haute couture show to watch & witness & to explore & to enjoy....
He & his team are creating such jaw dropping pieces & looks that are
A= mesmerizing
B= thoughtful
C= conversational
D= taking me to dreamland
That's what I want from haute couture
The FANTASY
But also, if you're in a group or with one other person that has a passion for fashion, you can discuss a collection & the thoughts behind that collection
That all is what Daniel does with Schiaparelli for me.
Jonathan Anderson for Loewe does has that same effect, Pieter Mullier too & another hand full of other designers.
Very good review Luke 👏🏻
✌🏻❄️
Daniel Roseberry 😊
Please please do a Schiaparelli deep dive!!!!
I cant believe they had that robot baby - it looks so spooky
Because it's a real child in there😢
Hoping we get Maison Margiela and Robert Wun show reactions 🤞🏾🥹
FINALLY!!!! I WAS WAITING FOR THIS REACTION!!!
Lace collar looks like my Irish dancing outfit wore as teen dancer 🇮🇪
Metal tips on some of the 👠 I’ve got silver and gold ones that screw on to the very pointed toes of a pair of my ‘cowboy’ boots…could kill someone, but beautifully
The lacing!
I believe there are many Alexander and Margiela references this season
4:16. Great for hiding jowls and double chins on aging clients that dont do plastics.
🤩IT WAS EEEEEVVVVVEERRRRYYYYTHING FAAAAABBBBUUULLLOOOUUUUSSSSS 🙌🏾✨✨✨
I'm getting McQueen for Givenchy FW99 with those electronics⚡
