It was so fun to see how well these beautiful dolls cleaned up! I also played with my mom‘s Crissy when I was little. She has a pretty nice wardrobe for her, and I used to hang all of the little clothes in my closet with my clothes! We both took really good care of her, but her eyes did recently get that fungus. My mom just cleaned her up a while ago, so I will share this video with her. I think she will enjoy it too!
How perfect to find this video today!! I just came across a huge trousseau for Crissy! Beautiful homemade clothes at least 30 outfits, maybe more. Many textures, tons of small details. Just an amazing set of clothes. Crissy would look soooo GROOVY on display in these. I keep looking at them they're just so cool! So now I need to get a Crissy, or a collector for the clothes.
I Love the way vintage vinyl dolls come clean! They start to look happier as you go, it's amazing and a bit uncanny! Appropriate for Christmas Eve! 8^D Also completely adore the Crissy and Beth website! It's a treasure trove of info. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Muñecas, Poupees, and Dolls!
Wow, it is night and day. They came out beautifully. I had no idea of using a magic sponge on vinyl, I think of my bjd dolls when I think of a magic sponge. The oxy clean is another great tip I didn't think of using. I am always worried with vinyl and what to use on them b/c some things can "melt" make the vinyl sticky. Thank you so much Allison. I love Crissy dolls. I still have my Kerry and Brandi from when I was a child (our tiny small town toy store was sold out of Crissy so I got her friends!) I did manage to find a complete (except box) Crissy doll in the late 80's for a steal so I finally got my Crissy doll. Thank you so much for sharing this. I think this may work on some Francie dolls I bought that have not so good legs. I decorate Blythe stands and seal the decorated petals in resin, for clean up I use a great swab I found on Amazon that is pointed and really firm, way way way firmer than a Q-tip. I am sending the link so you can look at them, they might be a bit easier to use than the tooth pick with paper towel. They hold their firmness really well and you won't have the bulk of the paper towel blocking your view when cleaning those tight areas. www.amazon.com/TecUnite-Pieces-Cotton-Precision-Pointed/dp/B07CWNB56X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=2OCDDU64GAXWV&keywords=Swabs%2C+Double+Precision+Tips+with+Paper+Stick%2C+200+Pieces+1+Pack+%28600+Pieces%2F+3+Packs%29&qid=1642959198&s=beauty&sprefix=swabs%2C+double+precision+tips+with+paper+stick%2C+200+pieces+1+pack+600+pieces%2F+3+packs+%2Cbeauty%2C163&sr=1-1 Thanks again Allison, I learned a lot today!
Hi Allison, I always enjoy seeing how others clean up their dolls. Thanks for the tips on cleaning the crevices with paper towel and toothpick. I have a thrifted Velvet doll to clean and add to my Crissy collection. Your girls turned out great!
Crissy and Cricket are so pretty. They look amazing after you cleaned them up. I also loved seeing the clothes your grandmother made---those are priceless.
Thank you for this! Crissy is also one of my all time favorites! I have several! I remember my first. I got her second hand when I was around ten and had to do just what you did here! Love it!
I love watching dolls get fixed up! Apparently there were a lot of dolls named "Cricket" in the 80s. There's this Cricket, and the talking Cricket toddler doll, and I have a Victoria Ashlea 19" doll named Cricket that I never really see anywhere else. It was a thing I guess! These dolls are really cute, and it's great to see them get a new life!
Hi! I love the Christy dolls. I have two or three of the Christy’s and at least one Velvet. They are still packed away from my last move. I hope to get them out soon to show you. I so enjoyed your video.
Wow. How wonderful to be given a cricket!! Shes one of the tough ones to get your hands on... I'm still missing her... congratulations 👏🎉 and happy Xmas!
Wow I love cleaning up dolls too but I don’t know if I would have been brave enough to attempt this one. When you showed the fungus in the eyes it was like 😳 almost body horror lol. But they cleaned up amazingly wiping off Crissy with the magic eraser was super satisfying! Also my mom had a growing hair doll in the 70s but swears it wasn’t Crissy lol
That yarn was all the rage in the 60s/70s. My grandma used to use it for bows on presents she sent me because it wouldn't get squashed in shipment. My mom would then use it for hair ribbons for my ponytails.
My poor childhood Crissy and Velvet have such a need for cleaning, and it's been great to see how to deal with Crissy's eyes, so thanks so much for that! I need to learn how to mend the orange lace on her original outfit which has been a bit torn since the 70s...I'm also planning to add Kerry and Cricket to my girls at some point - the issue is always having to buy from the US as they're not so common here in the UK.
@@MunecasPoupeesDolls At least you guys in the US don't have to worry about paying an extra 20% on top in the form of customs charges...so annoying when a doll is held for ransom!🙄😉
They both look great. There is a color Catching sheet from Shout that I use a lot for new human clothing and doll clothes that may bleed that actually picks up the bleeding color from the water so it doesn't stain. I don't have the exact name because I am not at my home right now.
You had it...Color Catchers . They're awesome. Since my dad started doing his laundry and told me he throws everything in together I have been buying him these. He hasn't ended up with pink underwear yet!
If you soak Crissy's hair in water first then iron it, the steam really helps (also makes it safer for the fibers) Also using a very fine tooth comb to "chase" the flat iron with super small sections and she'd look almost new. From that point I'd put in curlers and steam her. Once the hair is curled, it'll help disguise the heat damage.
Merry Christmas Hunny! Another awesome video! Alot of the same things are how I clean My Little Ponies♥️ Always awesome to see restoration videos ♥️ Have a merry Christmas 🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻🎄
Just brought home a nearly complete Movin' Groovin' Crissy doll who needed a major spa day, so I boil washed her hair and I'm trying to calm down her bangs, which are just sticking out.
I have a baby doll that I've cleaned up but I can't figure out what to do with her hair. I've tried all the suggestions with the fabric softener and the hair conditioner but nothing has helped. I'm looking for other suggestions

@@MunecasPoupeesDolls 😂😂 I have been really happy with them. They are very firm and hold up a lot longer when wet than a standard Q-tip.
First Time seen these beautiful dolls ❤️❤️ thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching 💜
@@MunecasPoupeesDolls ❤️❤️🥂 happy New year 🎊🎈
I tried the eye fix on my Velvet doll. It worked !!! Thank you.
Yay! They need touching up every so often as the fungus tends to grow back, but I've gone a couple of years between treatments on some of mine 💜
Got one from eBay going to restore for my granddaughter THANK YOU
They're so much fun to restore, enjoy 💜💜

You should totally do a Crissy collection video 🙂
I think I'm gonna make that one this week 💜💜
Amazing results!!!
Thanks so much Debra 💜💜

There were a couple of others...maybe she had Hasbro Aimee...or one of Crissy's extended family: Tressy, Brandy, Mia, Cinnamon, or Dina.

Using regular shampoo and conditioner works well for their hair, too. I sometimes use Downy fabric softener if their hair is rough.
