- Is The Philippines a great place for retirement?
Today we react to a video made by Paul in the Philippines Old Dog New Tricks in which he adresses his critics.
Volume control man!!!
I admit it could be much better
That blogger is full of shit! My wife is a Filipina. We lived in HK, had a child and relocated here 4 years ago. No sugar-coating. We have property, a business an income and I haven't done a day's work since I was 50. I'd been here many times in the past 20+ years so I knew what to expect. I'd rather be here than in the good old US of A.
Yeah I mostly had good experiences but the street dogs and the traffic is crazy. I was walking because of two bulged disc's in my back but it was hard to walk because of people double parked, garbage everywhere, crowded sidewalks, live wires hanging down. However it was affordable and mostly enjoyed my time.
Move all around and enjoy.
It all comes down to ones opinion and perspective. You can't compare the US against any other country and viceversa. I have seen bad areas in the US as well as many other countries that I have either lived in or visited (Columbia, Peru, Panama, PI, Korea, Okinawa). As Paul says, it is all about the best fit you! The biggest mistake I think many people make it to sell everything and move to the PI on blind faith without first visiting to make an educated decision before moving. I am glad that some expats don't like the PI as we don't need them living in the country and bad mouthing everything. People forget we are guest in their country and must act accordingly!
Will old man, if it does'nt work for you get the hell out! No one forcing you I hope.
what is wrong with you? your country aint your child, grow up. he just said he liked it. I'm american and i can list what i do not like...smh
Spend a lot of time here before making a move here. A LOT OF TIME. And not in a tourist area , but places where you would live.

Aim higher because life is too short to have to put up with 3rd world countries and behaviors.
What kind of juvenile nonsense are you babbling? You have the cultural-empathy capabilities of a kumquat.
I suppose aiming higher, for you, means a trip to Las Vegas, Disneyland or an all-inclusive resort.
Philippines is a place for travelers, not tourists.
do not listen to Cow and John .
Lol...there's poverty in every state in the US....
That’s nothing compared to the Philippines.
Yes exactly, and in the US lots of ugly overhead utility lines, which is not my thing. For those who prefer well manicured streetscapes, try Europe instead.
Can expats get jobs in the Philippines?
Only online....like a RUclips channel
There are some travel channels that sugarcoat it, but Paul is very straightforward I think.
