    Movie: Sweetwater 2023

  • @Rebound703
    @Rebound703 Месяц назад +40

    Sweetwater was the first black player to sign an nba contract (sort of)
    Chuck Cooper was the first black player to be drafted by an nba team.
    Earl Lloyd was the first black player to play in an nba game.
    Now back to Sweetwater, technically Harold Hunter was the first black player to sign an nba contract but he was waived, he never played in a nba game. Allowing Sweetwater be credited as the first black player to sign a contract.
    Sweetwater, Earl Lloyd and Chuck Cooper are all in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for their contributions to the game.

      Hank DeZonie signed a contract with the Tri-Cities BlackHawks on December 3rd, 1950 making hime the 4th black player in the NBA after Lloyd, Clifton and Cooper, but because he only played in 5 games before quitting to to discrimination he is largely forgotten

      youre not the only 1 my friend....and im not black.....im a jewish guy who was born in Ukraine and now live in Canada.......here is another story you might like........Wilt Chamberlain who played for Kansas in College, went to a restaurant shortly after he arrived in campus......it had a whites only sign at the door......Wilt went in, sat down and ordered his meal and ate it once it was brought to him......that was the last time that sign was present at the entrance of that restaurant :)....true story...Wilt is my favorite player of all time and I have 3 of his jerseys.......I thought that story was hilarious because I can imagine the absolutely terrified demeanor of anyone who even for a second considered saying anything to WIlt that mightve made him angry and imagine him turn 3 people into a single pretzel and use it to knock down human bowling pins made from tied up other humans who even looked at him wrong in the restaurant that day lol ........god bless man......im not an advocate of violence by any means, and we as people must remember that true leadership and courage isnt based on who is the most ignorant and violent but who is the most kind and can bring people together , but once in a while a good ass whipping is nessesary and useful even :)

      They played through the same conditions of the other humans of the past, Them receiving the same ongoing skin hatred doesn’t negate their lack of skill compared to todays players, they had stars of their time like The Big O who was known for his skill and being one of the first players to get a triple double. Look at these guys as Blueprints, they were pawns in a profit game to say the least.
