Best part of Penance, he has a cat called Pain Puss.
*Insert the best "That's What I Call Your Mom" joke of all time*
I'm very sure Penance was a female mutant in Generation Next, where even Jubilee called her Penny who smiles at the nickname and nothing else because she is mute
@@markboston9303 This is Correct. She was the sister of the mutant Emplate, who caused her affliction.
They call her Hollow now tho.
poor kitty, i really hope that suit dosnt match his owners, #stopanimalabuseandharm
Little detail left out of Speedball's story....He was also at the heart of the explosion, while all his teammates died, his kinetic powers took the brunt of the explosion. It wasn't just a mental transformation, his abilities were changed as well
I don't know his full story, but I did read some of the Thunderbolts stories that took place during Civil War. Weren't Penance's powers charged by physical pain, hence the need for the iron maiden suit?
@@GrandmasterDevo *Nods* In a way, He believed his powers were caused by pain, mostly because of the grief he was feeling. I do know instead of absorbing kinetic energy and using it to bounce, energy would lash out of him in waves so powerful that Moonstone referred to him as "Sad Hulk"
Another detail missed. It’s later shown that he made the penance suit with intent to jam nitro in it when he found him again
I know he's back to being speedball right now, anybody know how that happened?
@@eduardovillagomez3675 marvel became lame
Whatculture: "he looks absolutely ridiculous without a nose."
Krillin: "wtf are you trynna say?"
😂
Look carefully he has a nose, sorry krillin
@@jessec7499 Exactly. He is completely blind.
That missing nose was VITAL to the plot for Krillin.
And yet the nose is Completely visible in every single shot he included to show how he doesn't have a nose.
So this guy has retractable claws and god-tier healing factor, but his lack of a nose makes him unbelievable....ok
He has a nose its jus small
@PumpkinHead i think its actually cool he looks more anamialistic and primal.
@@personlastname8739 ye
Gonna need y'all to improve the research quality.
Why no mention of Killer Moth becoming Charaxes? He turned into a big moth-like creature, as well as Black Manta turning into a manta ray creature around the same time. It actually stuck around for a while and a less creepy version was even how he was portrayed in the Teen Titans show.
Killer Moth became Mothman.
I'm torn on Penance. On one hand it is a bit much for Speedball to bear all the guilt of what happened in Stamford and go full masochist. On the other hand nobody wants to be responsible for people dying, and though Nitro went too far, Robby was still showing off for the camera.
Plus it doesn't help that the comics come up with things like 'Tony's done worse' as a way to make Penance look ridiculous. Well Robby isn't Tony. He's a kid.
Either way, Robbie's dedication to his Penance identity officially went too far when he forced his cat Niels aka Hairball (super powered cat and hero in his own right) into rebranding as P-Cat the Penitent Puss. What has Niels got to be penitent about? He wasn't even at Stamford. And don't say he did it voluntarily. There is a no way a cat could put all that spiky armour on by himself.
@@mediabaron2416 Pretty sure that was just a joke for the Squirrel Girl comic. Like when he starts bashing his head against the wall and saying that it made him a deep character for doing it.
Agree with part, Speedball was originally a very jokey comic character. It wasn't in the least bit grim and gritty. It was a more kid like comic, than say Spider-man was in the beginning. And it covered the part where his cat had his same powers. When they put him in the New Warriors, although he was very carefree and jokey, he was still a more serious character in a more serious comic. I don't think they even acknowledge the cat having the same powers idea. Hence bringing it back and applying the same new concept to the cat, is just another joke.
He did not become a masochist, that would have made is his new suit preferable for him
Also it isn’t just masochist he needs the pain to activate his power after the xplosipn
Seeing the comics this clearly wasn't properly researched.
Here's another one you got wrong, Riddler. The war of Jokes and Riddles was a prequel story, in the first few years of Batman's career in New 52 continuity. And Riddler had a reason for his change. Somehow you've missed the whole Year of the Villains story and Lex giving boosts to almost every villain in the DC universe. Except the Riddler. This pushes him to be better.
He seems to get many things wrong, a lack of research when making these videos 🤦♂️
What issues are these for skeletal riddler

Some are just nostirls . no actual nose piece
@@joeyvidetto7613 shut up
AEBIOUS no U
It's scrunched up but it's clearly there.
For certain stories I would say there are worse transformations:
1. Futures End, where most of the heroes are mutilated into these sort of cyborgs that follow Brother Eye's directives.
2. The Witch and the Warrior, a Wonder Woman story where Circe turned most male heroes and villains into half-animal monsters and one of the first examples of
3. Superdoom, several instances of Superman turning into a Doomsday-like hybrid.
Wolverine didn't loose his nose. It was small and stylized when making him more feral. Enough with that crap.
You can literally see it in the images he chose too lol
@@YearsOVDecay1 its called missing something or not seeing it maby it was an accident man
@PersonaX what would you do to change it?

@@YearsOVDecay1 yup
No, no. Magneto's act didn't do this. However, later the mutant Genesis wanted to rebond Wolverine's skeleton with adamantium. Wolverine resisted the process (well after his healing factor rebooted), which caused his mental and physical degradation.
Yeah. Show these fuckers how to research. They even showed the issues that it happened in and showed Genesis.
Thank you. Was thinking the something.
Honestly just read that one a few days ago. Thanks for saying it before I did.
I had this comic when I was a kid, and yeah, what you said. Friggin morons. And, I thought he looked kinda cool like that.
@@rcredmon Ehh...I preferred shortly after that where he was still savage looking but could talk again.

You’d be surprised
No idea if Penance ever got more stories written but god damn I loved the entire Speedball into Penance transformation during the Civil War. Easily one of my favorite characters ever purely by backstory.
Honestly same. I dont think he gets enough recognition for that compelling and badass backstory/story
Absolutely. It was very well written.
I mean I think it was poorly handled tbh
FrankenCastle was actually a pretty fun story.
Marginal Hero how did he get his original body back? I’ve always wondered but never could find out.
@@samuelhermosillo4532 easy answer retconned 😄
He was given the Bloodstone until he was ... better?
I will never forgive Rick Remender for writing that piece of garbage. Everything leading up to The Punisher fighting Daken was pretty cool. Frank finding a cache of S.H.I.E.L.D weapons during Dark Reign and him going against The Hood and Norman Osbourne. But then Wolverine had to stop Frank from killing Daken...and it all went to crap.
That story was unbelievably ridiculous, but damn if I didn't love it
Felt sad for killer croc's redesign. They should stick to the old look he had. It's more realistic and that's what made batman comics believable.
Yeah, I could even see that original Croc design working in the Nolan movies.
I’m surprised that Batman doesn’t just find a cure for crocs disease
yeah, you'd think that would be a good goal to focus all that money he has on, getting rid of the powers that make so many villains a threat that normal men can't handle
Croc and freeze just need help
If he did he wouldn't have villains to lock up
Maybe he can have a redemption arc like Clayface
@@alejandrokaplan7243 When was Clayface redeemed?
Here's a horrifying transformation per say.... Killer Croc and Orca's child from Injustice *shivers at the thought*
What about in the Arkham games when joker gets transformed by the titan chemical, that was scarring to me as a kid.
IMO the most horrifying is Killer Moth turning into a giant moth monster named Charaxes back in the 1990s Robin run.
7. Bbnn.
Stephen King movies: "Why can' t they ever make them more like the books??"
Comic book movies: "No no no please dear God do NOT make this story like the books!"
ok just saying frankencastle doesnt look "cartoony" he looks badass, you guys are so flippin wrong

I know he was only a villain but Will O Wisp turned the first Tarantula into a giant Spider back in Amazing Spider-Man 230...something.
@ Stephen Crane I actually remember that one too. He kept mutating over like 2-3 issues until he literally became a giant spider, then committed suicide.
And Speedballs transformation actually made him into an interesting character... and lead to one of the largest grand scale events (Civil War) of all time.
"Wolverine lost his nose. Why? I have no idea"
Dude, fire your scriptwriter. "Who nose?" was RIGHT THERE
1:19 I've seen this pic of wolverine repeatedly, but only now have I realised how THICK THOSE ARMS ARE, HOW DOES HE MOVE MY LORD!!
Tarantula's transformation into the real thing was pretty damn shocking.
I wanna see that savage Wolverine fight The Hulk. I’m not saying Wolverine is stronger than hulk, he is just more savage and has increased strength and speed. They both fight out of rage, it would be an interesting fight.
Angels transformation to Archangel was pretty horrifying too
You have to admit Penance is a badass superhero name and they should bring it back he's in this it's a completely different character believe me if I could draw and stuff I would start my own comic book and Steal that name 😁
“Wolverine loses his nose.”
Me: But... but his nose is right there. You can see it...
Wolverine did not lose his nose, when you said he lost his nose, I found his nose which was just scrunched up.
I am so glad I missed these stories!
1990s comic art is horrible . It started the decline of the industry .Rob Leifeld is the poster boy of this trend .I applaud that you have 100000 views . Your narration is excellent !
Before watching this, if I don’t see Spawn I swear to God I will smack my wall with the force of a 10yr old
If the Scarecrow and his Scare-Beast are not on here, I'm gonna riot.
They weren't.
"Rage RAGE FUCKING RAGE."
There was also no Big Ed
How's that riot going?
I want to see a what if video. Like the biggest moments in comic history and hypothetical scenario where we consider if something was changed. And then considering the possible ramifications
'What If?!' and Elseworlds (I think?) have your back there, comics though, not videos.
Paul Tapping fair point. A theory video gets old quick. Respect
Not sure how you're defining "horrifying " for this video.. in my opinion, not more horrifying than Angel to Archangel
This is art!
Noone:
Literally noone:
Wolverine: loses his nose
Everybody: *horrifying*
8:14 I loved Spideys Transformation. It was so awesome an horrifying at the same time, when I saw that as a kid! 😎
Dude, Penance is kinda metal. That's a really admirable thing to do, remind yourself of your mistakes like that so you'll strive to avoid similar ones in the future
I think the most absolute Batman villain I feel sry for is MR freeze now his story arch is very very tragic if you really think about it
The Franken Castle story arc was weird , fun, and came out of no where. The story leading up to it was a typical serious punisher story line and then boom. People hate but I think it was fun and different take on Frank. The only problem was that after getting back to normal, the punisher never goes after the people responsible for his death.
But that one image of Frankencastle looks epic like the one where his shirt is torn and there’s moss on his suit
4:11 Stamford, Connecticut????
Is amazing that someone remembers that spiderman's savage land adventure!
For Penance you didn't mention that his abilities protected him from said explosion and he became the only survivor. Then his powers were gone for a time because they exhausted themselves protecting him, and when they came back they only manifested when he was in pain. So, he felt it was his penance to constantly hurt himself in order to make amends for his part in the incident. That is a big part of his character, and shouldn't be overlooked.
I like the idea of the riddler turning into an irish boxer
A more horrific transformation is an ad at the beginning and then two sets of mid ads in a 10 minute video
Yeah, but Speedball (or Penance) also did this, because only way he could use his powers was when he was in pain
I liked the Penance design. It was a really cool and dark persona.
Huh, Eddie went all high school girl anorexic...Poor cra cra🙁
Can any1 help me to start reading comics from marvel/dc I need starting points and long going seris would be preferd
I'm sorry but Fraken Castle looks badass to me. I think it's an unique idea that should be brought back in some alternate universe
Same with Penance, I think it's a cool design and interesting idea
Nobody:
Magneto: GoT yOuR nOsE
Wolverine literally never lost his nose. In every photo you showed, he still had a nose
It should be mentioned that the explosion from #7 is the straw that broke the camels back in the original Civil War
When spiderman took off deadpool's mask they should have put i threw up in my mask
Is it messed up my favorite version of killer croc is the version from the cartoon The Batman ? He's cajun, hes cool, and he's just a crocodile man looking to make some cash. In the episode "team penguin" I love how he's just so over doing theme based crimes lol
The story lines might be a little goofy but the artwork is always amazing,
he had a nose.
Not a reboot, it was in Ultimate Spider-Man.
the ultimate line was basically a reboot
@@ranwolf1240 no, its an entirely seperate universe
The Ultimate line was a lame attempt to "modernize" Marvel Comics. If it had succeeded, the plan was to end ALL comics in the 616 universe and just publish Ultimate Universe comics.
Paul Woida shame they made it a boring edge fest then
Literally in every picture shown Wolverine has a nose...
Clickbate, bud. They do this all the time
I don’t know why, but I completely out the New Warriors out of my mind. I was super into them when I was a kid, but I completely forgot about them. I’ll have to revisit
Wolverine lost his nose... why? Nobody "nose". lol
@ Alucard 1796 that was bad. See yourself out sir.
As Whovian I say well done
Ha ha ha
That joker comic is 🔥🔥🔥
Can someone link me a site where I can read thecharacters about The Designer? I need to know what happened to my dear Riddler 🤔
0:18 what comic is that?
I actually like the newer killer croc because his name make total sense with his new art styles but that’s just my opinion I like the more animal than human combo type look it suits him and the name “killer croc” anyways have a good day thank you for actually taking time readying all this you a real g😂
I remember watching that Spiderman episode in the 90s after school straight fire n I had the comic that came with the toy from kb toys they sold comics with the action figures (marvel)
6:38
*Tenth Doctor smiles through the monitor*
If i were to add some more cases of horrific transformations i would put the Man-Bat as a whole and the Jonathan Crane becoming the Scarebeast in As the crow flies
Man-spider is some nightmare fuel. Extreme nightmare fuel.
I have a question I hope you can answer why does killer Croc not jump in the Lazarus pits?
By Killer Croc's mutation, I thought you meant that one Wonder Woman comic where he turned into the Hydra.
OOOOOKAY.
Magneto took his adamantium in Wolverine #75. He didn't lose his healing factor. In fact, it got kicked into overdrive because it didn't have to keep healing him from Adamantium poison.
In Wolverine #100, Cyber tried to put the adamantium back into Wolverine. His body rejected it like a cannon killing everyone around him. And THAT'S how/when Wolverine got disfigured!
A little bit of glossing over details for some of this. Speedball for example...he didnt just make the suit to punish himself...he needed the pain to activate his mutation since the explosion did so much damage
In Spider- Island, Spiderman was also turned into a Spider before he was shortly left with four arms if I recall correctly...
8:11 Yeah thanks for that I was traumatized !
Little known fact: Another reason at the time Wolverine had no nose is because the artists at the time really couldn’t draw them
"got your nose"
"NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
The NOSE...0perhaps what he did lose was his sense of smell.
Smell is most obviously used for hunting, for food is the more obvious use, for being able to smell his surroundings,, maybe even things that he'd want to focus more on...nature, green things have often sat at a cusp or crossroads of being both good and evil. While tge complications of Man vs Nature, frequently shown in more obvious issues of pollution, which is where D.C.'s Poison Ivy frequently sots, ytying to give Nature an avatar to ACT and speak.
What about scent memory. Whether strait forward or the obvious
But what scent smell can theoretically good characters - or people to memories thought to be forgotten or really noticed as important.
That Superman Mullet was nothing short of horrible and terrifying .
Bruh riddler's spine though dang my boy got spined !
Ik a lot about the comics
I've read Star girl, Swamp thing, Super Girl, Bat girl, Deadpool, Deadpool and X-men and I've also read a lot of X-men volume comics
2:08 It's Morbin' time
the initial killer croc looks like an interesting character, nowadays it's like a generic monster
What about mullet superman???
He has no idea why Wolverine loses his nose because he doesn't seem to do any research. Having his adamantium ripped up sent Wolverine's healing factor into a kind overload and kick started the rest of his mutation that was dormant before, turning him into a savage beast in both behavior and body
0:58
Nobody:
Magneto: Got your nose
Riddler has that question mark posture
oh my morb I can beleieve it! morbius is just one of a morb! he's was a movie alright, I'd even rate it out of 10!
It’s funny. I’m reading through the 90s X-Men comics currently (I’m a masochist apparently), and noseless Wolverine makes me laugh every damn time I see him.
I'm surprised they didn't include the episode where the Leader turned the Avengers all into gama radiation monsters and Hulk had to save them
What about the entire marvel roster being turned into horrific political charicatures?
The onstantine priests in the Amory wars have had a pretty bad transformations. You could easily add sizer and Coheed to this list too but both are technically temporary/reversible.
At least, they used the thumbnail image in the video.
I mean, what other type of Skeleton did you think the Riddler was going to look like?!
