    Small correction, at 3:41 the captions say "molten iron is made.." but it is brass or bronze., and at 4:40 it says "molten steel is ready now"

      Brass because you can see the burning glow of the zinc in the melting pot along with the characteristic plumes of smoke as the zinc depletes.

      It's a filter to catch any slag/impurities as you pour in the molten metal. Looked like it had a coating as well, perhaps flux?

    • @FullSpeed_only
      @FullSpeed_only 18 часов назад

      @@johnburden4727it’s usually made from SiC.
      Sponges are impregnated with Silicon Carbide Particles and then sintered.
      Normally they have a microscopic Layer of Silicon Oxides on the Surface as soon as they get hot enough in Air.
      They are reusable if you bother to clean them. I don’t know whether it’s economical on the bigger Scale.
      The Filters are really important.
      When they machine the Valve Body you see no Inclusions, although they aren’t doing injection Molding.
      The Filter helps a lot. Not only does it capture the Slag and other solid Impurities, but it also stops the molten Metal from directly hitting the Sand and ripping & carrying Grains off.
