- Top 10 Reasons to live in New Orleans
For all of its problems, New Orleans is still an amazing city that millions of people flock to as tourists. New Orleans should be one of those places on your travel bucket list. Just be careful of where you go and have a good time.

I've been to many cities all kver the US and New Orleans is by far my favorite. The food, the music, the vibe- so awesome! Unlike anywhere else.
I'm moving there September. Taking my trumpet with me
Everyone needs to go New Orleans at least once in their life. Skip Disney World, go here.
Been there. Wasn’t that impressed. Have no desire to go back.
When it's not mardi gras, imo!
Sonny Leger New Orleans is overrated in my opinion. I grew up in Baton Rouge one hour outside of there so I know.
4uFriday I use to live around Houma.
@@SwampSquatch70 It’s definitely a city that isn’t for everyone when it comes to planning a trip. Since I’m from NYC it was definitely a cool experience for me when I went. Such a different city, kind of felt like a different country to me at times lol.
I lived in New Orleans for a little over a year as a transplant from Chicago. I always enjoyed visiting New Orleans and would travel there for leisure numerous times and always loved it. However being on vacation in New Orleans and living in New Orleans are two completely different things. Things you enjoyed when you would come into town for a few days are not nearly as enjoyable or charming after a couple months of being there. My point is this, New Orleans is a great city but should you move there do not go into it thinking it will be as charming and wonderful as it is when your simply traveling there for a few days. Do some research a head of time talk to some locals beforehand if possible to get as good a lay of the land as possible you will be glad you did and you will enjoy living there much more if you do this.
Is it a dense city like chicago
I was stationed in New Orleans at the Naval Support Activity for almost 5 years. This was pre-Katrina and I must say I absolutely love New Orleans. One of the greatest cities ever! I must say that when I live there the public school system was pretty bad! I'm glad to hear it's gotten better.
Good job, this video really helped me!!🎉🎉🎉
The food scene being huge has also resulted in the people being huge...
Robust
Truth. We are part of the deep fried culture.
I lived in New Orleans in the late seventies and early eighties. If you wanted to work in the Gulf of Mexico, it was the place to be. This video brought up some pleasant memories. Thanks Briggs.
top 10 reasons NOT to move to new orleans: 1-crime, 2-crime,3-crime, 4-crime, 5-crime, 6-mayor and city council are inept, 7-flooding, 8-potholes, 9-taxes, and 10-police department.
Mayor and city council are inept & corrupt. New Orleans PD has a reputation as the most corrupt police dept in the US, and that's its rep among cops.
@@jameshickok2349 i actually lived there in 1974. the water pressure was so low i couldn't even take a shower. every time we got a heavy rain, the street flooded. i did not go out at night-ever! a friend got raped in her apartment a few blocks from me. i haven't been to new orleans since about 1990 and i probably will never go back-ever. etc,etc etc.
@Veronica Moody especially in new orleans-smart ass!
gLAD YOU ARE NOT HERE
I lived in N.O. for a couple years....Its a history rich city with beautiful nods to its founding past past via the culture, architecture, arts, and people....lets just say the city was dismal, food was great but if your gunna move there....do yourself a favor and just stay a month and see how you feel first. Also Highly concider getting a handgun and knowing how to use it.
Echo Sigma very true
@Hydroxy Chloroquine Where do you live now?
YES BRIGGS! i knew you’d come through for my city! finally a positive louisiana video.
Sara Amber - unfortunately full of wrong notions.
Pourquoi Pas how?
@@dontcarebear3227 good schools, really? Public transportation, very limited. And getting drunk in the streets, that's great? Forgot others and I don't feel like listening to it again.
I've got to give you the zoo, one of the 10 best in US, the aquarium, many museums such as Confederate museum, the WWII museum, the Cabildo among others. Unfortunately I believe the wax museum has been closed for years. It was a great attraction showing N.O. history.
Pourquoi Pas compared to the rest of the state new orleans schools are the best. music scene is amazing. maybe not the most ideal place to move with your young children but for young adults it’s fine. jobs have become harder and harder to get around here in the past 10 years.
Pourquoi Pas not saying it’s the best place to move by any means but it’s a beautiful place. crime is an issue. i guess i love it because i’m from here and the culture.
I want to be there... My Spotify analytics say that people from New Orleans have been listening to my songs. I am not a jazz musician though😅
I am looking forward to visit New Orleans
What type of musician are you? I want to be in New Orleans, too.
All music thrives here- good and the other kind.
New Orleans is a beautiful city. The food there is awesome. When I go back to visit I want to do a "Homer Simpson Run" and try out a lot of the food he mentions.
Here we go New Orleans. Love your videos. Greetings from Portugal.
love the food, the Saints, and the culture!!
WHO DAT
Love the positive video Briggs, thanks! 😁👍🏻
I spent New Year's Eve in New Orleans in '98. I saw the Goo Goo Dolls at Hard Rock Cafe. The rest of the evening was sketchy.
Great vid!
On my bucket list. I’m a fan of charm and graciousness, qualities sadly lacking these days in many people and places. I’d love to visit New Orleans. Thanks for this video.
😂 1st of all Lil Wayne counts!
He lives in Miami.. I know some of his friends who live here and are really nice folks... Marley G. For instance I cool as it gets
Hubby and I have been there many times, we love the city, the people, the music and of course the food, my one bit of advice it only go between October and April any other time and the humidity is unbearable oh and buy a Jazzy pass it's the best deal for getting around.
Thanks for the positive video on a place that I love !
Would you be able to do any videos about the northwest? Places like Vancouver, or anchorage, or other cities in Alaska. I only ask because I recently saw tour Seattle video and it was very helpful and informative and I hope you keep at it. Oh! And I can’t forget about Portland gotta knw more about Portland. Thanks Briggs.👍🏾
I love cruising out of New Orleans
As a local, When Madi Gras and festival season comes around. I leave and go on vacation because the traffic is an absolute disaster in NOLA.
Great video Briggs 👍
Thank you
My town of descendance! Louisiana-Creole for life!
A town with no real drainage or levees, built below sea level- what could possibly go wrong?
Lots! I've lived there. I know you are tongue in cheek, but yes, it's awful when it rains.
😂❤️ Excellent👍
But Monique's right... It becomes hell in a swimming pool when it rains😕
@@justmona9647 as you pray you can get home in those few blocks from a main road to a side road lol
Ask the Dutch, they know how to handle this, cause pretty much their whole country is below sea level 😉
@@scotchgod8478 Good idea, I've the address for the Dutch consulate you should send them a postcard👏
I lived in New Orleans and now Covington. And walking around bourbon st day or night can be dangerous.
Not to mention there is a stench around Bourbon Street a combination of beer, piss, and vomit. That oder is unique to Bourbon Street and it can not be duplicated anywhere else.
Hello 👋. Can you recommend me good area with good schools, because soon we will move in New Orleans. Thank you
it’s not that hard. I’ve lived in New Orleans, and have never gone to bourbon street. Nothing bad has happened. Just hang around the French Quarter
Yeah but so can all cities so your comment is stupid atlanta is also dangerous so tampa so is little rock
@@gothicanimegirlsz3443 I never said that New Orleans was the only city that was dangerous to walk around in at night. Your post makes absolutely no sense. I'll see if you can figure it out.
Top 10 Reasons to live in New Orleans according to the video:
10. Good public transportation by US standards (e.g. street cars).
9. Beer to go.
8. Music. Birth of jazz.
7. Locals are very friendly.
6. Festivals.
5. Mardi Gras.
4. Architecture.
3. Good schools.
2. Food.
1. French Quarter.
Briggs, nice to see RARE positive video, find it hilarious (Briggsian style of comedy). You pick 1 of the Worst states to live in per this RUclips Channel I follow, WATB...perhaps you have heard of it. [Stop Typing] ;). New Orleans is interesting place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there. I'm with you cooler/mild temps. The heat/humidity + bugs would make me one ornery gator. Hope you and family are well. (Patrick in Chicago)
I am a Chicago native myself and moved to New Orleans several years ago for work and ended up living there for a little over a year and am now out on the west coast. I couldn't agree more with you it's a great place to visit but living there is a completely different story all together. Someone like myself a Chicagoan is in for a complete cultural shock when you move there, trust me it's a whole different ballgame. I will end on this Go Blackhawks!!!
Had a blast in New Orleans back in 93. Went with my architect boyfriend so we looked at a lot of buildings and stayed in three different hotels/bnb's.
Loved it...the take away flavored daiquiris were delicious!
Not sure about N.O.
I'm a Western/Pacific Western. Doesn't mean I wouldn't like to visit almost anywhere and I did some it while I was in US Army back in 1975 to 1980.
Keep up the great work.😊👍
Have you ever lived in New Orleans l, great place to visit but not live
Never have lived there. I see it the same way from my experience and personal preference
@@WorldAccordingToBriggs Mafia 3 took place in New Orleans 1968.
It’s nice from October to April.
Why not ? Tell please, because soon I with my family have to move there. I have 2 children,
Ive lived in nola all my life. I like it here.
Never had a bad trip to New Orleans--might be possible but I've never had a bad one.
After COVID-19 is over I’m going back!
I have always wanted to travel to New Orleans, in fact it's on my Bucket List. And a good friend of mine lives there. One day, the good Lord willing, I will definitely go !
Been there done that!! NEVER going back!! Lots of problems!! Hurricanes are the least of there problems!!
The biggest one is mayor Latoya Cantrell
Love the food & the brests, hate the hurricanes, voodoo, & the bad juju on Bourbon Street.
Fantastic place. Pat O'Brian was Fabulous. They served Hurricanes and Tornadoes. I was in the Navy Reserves at the time. Beautiful place.
You should do a top 10 reason not to move to Baltimore MD
you'd need a top 20 for that
Top 10 reason to move to Baltimore would be a challenge. Their inner harbor is nice....to visit!
@@crazeyjoe The crime is bad....... really bad
@@onye0 Yes, that is a major reason why coming up with 10 reason to move to Baltimore would be a challenge.
@@crazeyjoe Ohhhhhh ok
Beer to go was my favorite thing
I lifted my shirt for beads, and the cop was like "dude... put your shirt down"
I have always thought that dudes were supposed to drop their pants and moon in order to get the beads. Girls lift their tops and flash.
No thanks,....I am not convinced. It's funny that many locals commenting on this channel say it sucks,...but,......people who visit for a few days think it's great I will take the advice of the locals Thank you very much
don’t know why people think New Orleans is bad I was born in alabama and moved to nola when I was 2 and nothing bad has ever happened to me or my family and I get great grades in school.
“New Orleans has a solid education system...” Whaaaaat? 😂😂😂 Not unless you can afford $10,000+ yearly private school tuition.
Mr.Briggs Being a big fan of music I’d love to see a video about New Orleans music & musicians. 🎹🪕🎼🎺🎤
I love watching buildings and architecture ❤️
im born and raised in new orleans, still live here.please visit only😂
Big Dick Black the murder rate
Also, there’s a lot more to Louisiana than New Orleans, Lake Charles,Baton Rouge, Shreveport and Many others are all great places to live!
Pretty cool I actually learned a couple things.
Nice
Top 10 could be easily 20. Cemeteries, WW 2 Museum, Saints game, river cruise on old paddlewheel boat. St louis church and more
Great video!
Thank you ❤️🌞🍀🌴🎼🌟🎵🇫🇮🇺🇸
Love your vids
I must say you got me on the jazz part and trust me I might indeed move out of England and move to New Orlean well I know I need that green card thing
I grew up in New Orleans, a lot of this I miss.
I experienced Mardi Gras as an employee of the city....go celebrate, but to be part of the clean up crew! Lmao
They actually measure the amount of people who go to Mardi gras by the tons of garbage they remove
You should do top 10 reasons to move to Detroit. Some of these cities can use some positive light during these hard times with the pandemic.
Yeah no i wouldn't even want to buy gas in detroit.
@@crtv9727 It just depends on the area just like any other major city.
@@crtv9727 lol😂😂😂😂
Not from the US here, and the only reason i know NO is because that campaign from L4D2. From what I saw there, the architecture is pretty cool. Planning to stay in the US in the near future but still kinda confused where to stay. I've beento LA and yeah about that. Went to SF liked it but the cost tho. Went to NY and yeah i like it. One of my fave city in the world just the price. Went to Seattle, again i like the city but the price is just disgusting. Here i stumbled upon NO, recommend or not? If you have any city to recommend pls tell me! Would love to know.
ALWAYS WANTED TO VISIT NEW ORLEANS
Best city to experience a mugging.
The only things iI wouldn't like is the heat and the Hurricane's like Katerina.
Two MAJOR things missed. Saints football & Lil Wayne! Cmon how could you disregard him as one of the goats. Dude pretty much coined southern hip hop. Like or dislike him you have to respect him.
Wayne lives in Miami. Lots of his homies still here... making music
Jazz is good housecleaning music.
You forgot tripping on acid in the old graveyard. (Easy Rider reference) LOL
Plenty of great trips, but you can't get into the cemeteries at night..but lots of other things to do
I love your top 10 videos Briggs. I'm from Michigan you should do another video on Michigan 😁
Im from Michigan. Its boring. Now live in NO. Not boring.
It’s about time bro
Great job, when did you last do a worst reasons?
Last year
@@WorldAccordingToBriggs Thank you, sometimes they overlap. Good and bad can be the same thing, and I love you show that.
In want to go to new orelans because of the originals :)
I live near New Orleans, and they have good food too.
In LA you can drink in the car as long as you aren't the one driving.
Drive up daiquiri bars are a real thing
Hi folks. I'm planning to visit New Orleans in a few months. Does anybody know where I can find an affordable hotel during Mardi Gras? I'm a traveller on a budget. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Ha ha, I JUST sent you fan mail from Louisiana, like last week.
You keep uploading videos, I'll keep watching & upvoting. :)
Got orders Gulfport MS. Is there public transportation in that direction from New Orleans
I love history.
I was born in New Orleans and I still live their
New Orleans maybe a hellhole, but there is some good.
Oh man you were hanging out with Jeff Beck, that is so cool
Born & raised in Nola. Great place to visit, EAT, & sightsee... definitely not a great place to live. And certainly not a good place to start a family.
if you need an idea for a video try the best river city's to visit/live in...they're my favorite
Anyone who thinks of Mardi Gras as a reason to live here, obviously doesn't live here. 🤦♂️
Can you do more videos on more cities in Louisiana period besides Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and New Orleans?
Just watch out for Bourbon St. after dark. Guard your pockets. They have some really talented pick pockets. And just know that the hot girl with a killer bod that looked at you may be a dude.
LMFAO
Lil Wayne definitely counts
He lives in Miami
You just said that you didn't do Top 10 Reasons to Move to videos because they don't get enough views.
Positif video🥰🥺
Go Browns!!!!!!!!!
I live here, it's not worth it unless you're a minority. Run, run far, run fast.
Thx but I like Texas more tho
Are you sure about the schools one? They get a C on niche in terms of Public Schools, in comparison New York and LA get B's, San Francisco, San Jose,El Paso, and Austin get B+ or A=. Looking at GreatSchools, I trust that rating 5 10/10's, but after that 2 7/10's and then all below that.
Is new Orleans expensive to live in?
Not really!
its cheap, jobs just pay low
Wait is the song playing in the background in the beginning?
My birth city. Let's see what you got.
He's not wrong, but another video has the worst reasons. Several overlap.
not a to go cup, but a go cup
Afro - Americans made jazz music + so much more
Jazz made blued and rock too...
It isn't even where music was born, but it was conceived here.. and you can feel it wherever you go
Well done

Uh, one reason to NOT move there. The often storms and flooding. They have yet to completely clean up after Katrina!!? Why? They say, it's just going to storm again! The state is also below sea level so another reason for the flooding.
Gina Perry - not the whole state! Just large parts of the N.O. area.
@@pourquoipas2673 well sir or madam, what I've seen on the weather reports lately (& have also visited), it seems the weather starts on the coast & moves up through the state. It also has a bad putrid odor of dead 🐟 🐟 every time I've visited. That seems to longer in the air.

I suggest you stop coming to NO if you don't like it. I can't blame you. I live in the area and don't care for it either. (But the smell of fish? Not by my experience) Unfortunately my family, children, grandchildren are there. Only reason I stayed I made a damn good living in the chemical and nuclear industries. Would much rather be in Colorado. Just can't afford it.
