- While generators can make living life after a storm easier, it does not come without dangers. Geoff Youngblood, from Tool for a Time, offers some generator safety advice for you and your family.
Thank you for this post! Excellent instructions.
I'm a lineman for a local power company. We test everything before we touch anything. Back feeding generators probably won't kill a lineman. However you might kill a neighbor walking their dog if they came in touch with a down line being fed from your generator?
Solid advice! Keeps everyone safe.
Or you can get a interlock kit have a 30amp or 50 amp receptacle installed to your breaker panel and power your whole house depending on size of generator
This is the way😊 Of course you can wire up the most essentials in the transfer switch like the fridge and stove and some outlets even for the smaller units. I’d love to be able to run the hvac but generators in that range are so expensive I think I’ll stick to a window unit during those times
Note to all preppers. Propane puts out less carbonoxide than gasoline does.
Sounds like a straight death trap! 💯🤦
Can I keep it in my garage if my garage is detached? Not sure how to keep it out of the rain in a storm?
They sell after market tents for a generator running in the rain.
CO2 is NOT Carbon Monoxide! It is "CO."
Did they talk about grounding the generator when you start it without plugging your 30 or 50amp cable ? Especially when the generator is wet from a storm or on heavy snow…..
Where do we get the cord?
A reputable electrical supply house should sell those heavy duty cords.
Propane generator is the best. A lot less carbonoxide than gasoline
Where can I find that cord?
Brov Richard nun and grady judd and ron desantis are my dudes keeping it real in fl
