I have many Eduard Overtrees, and the truth is that they are very useful to use 100% all the decorations that a modeler/collector has left over from other planes for me Eduard, he has won the heaven of modelers
Great thoughts and ideas and the waffle is getting better. I have a FW 190 which I thought was ruined. Overtrees allows me to fix things and save the project and I get a paint mule to improve weathering skills etc.
I've collected a lot of overtrees from Sprue Brothers. Among the things I like about them is that for around $20USD they're cheaper (and often much nicer) than the same variants from other manufacturers and I'm free to build them OOB using decals from my stash binders if I so wish. As you demonstrated here, I also have the option to pick and choose among the available aftermarket bits if I want to enhance them without paying more for a kit that includes stuff that I may not favor. In other words, they're beautiful on their own, but one can still go ape with the add ons if desired.
@@thescalemodellingcafe I'm surprised that Hannants doesn't carry the overtrees. I think they're missing out on a considerable segment of modelers who just wanna work with styrene.
Hey Jamie great video really interesting about Eduard different levels of kits. The aftermarket and knowing where to get all the extras you mentioned is the tricky bit, cheers Liam
Hi Jamie, nice chat. However, using the spare decals from a Profipack or other upper tier Eduard kit will still require, in most cases, buying AM stencils; Eduard sometimes offers such separate decal sheet in their shop. The reason is, while there are plenty of marking options in, say, a Profipack edition, only one set of stencils is included in the decal sheet.
Hi mate, thanks for the comment. I've heard them state the reasons for the Overtrees series in their newsletter, I guess that's why they do stencil sets too?
Great points for and against there Jamie. My last few projects have relied on Montex masks not only because of the unpredictable Eduard decals but because I’m a fussy f**k and I don’t always want to do the kit marking options ! As for overtrees , I will hope that Eduard return to Telford one day although your point about grabbing an overtree of a newly released kit to take advantage of a fresh mold is a valid one. I’m thinking of the proposed P51B/C Mustang.
It's a shame that Eduard have discontinued the Royal Class boxes at least here in the US I don't see them. Thankfully I managed the get the Fw-190 and the Mig-15 before they disappeared.
Eduard are my favourite model compnay too. I would love to get overtrees but they are sold in USD. Its still cheaper to get the weekend kit locally or off ebay. Shippiing to Australia doesnt help either. Such a shame!
They are awesome, but I haven't done many of their kits at all! I will rectify that with the little 109E which is apparently a beautiful kit, it looks amazing in the box.
@@thescalemodellingcafe they are great , in this batch of kits i got a sea otter a skua a b18 bola but by far the definete first build is the Piaggio P108 quadrimotore , i love that period of strange bombers

They are such a good idea
Thanks! Saw them online for sale and wondered. I’m collecting quite a stash of spare decals and parts, so may give one of these a try with my spares.
Great value for money

Good save! Thanks mate

Thanks for the idea of storing my decal stash in binders! For now I just dump them out and search through for a suitable one I need.

I go to Hannants mate, or Scalemates. Both are great resources.
Ebay has lots of afrermarket too

I really hope they do return, they are missed!

Yeah, it is a shame. Hopefully they'll return at some stage!
The overtree's also mean you can get a spare kit for when you screw things up on your profipack..
I'm waiting for Telford for a stock up on overtrees!

Shipping is a killer!
What's putting me off Eduard now is their new generation of decals. Over trees could be the answer as I could get some after market instead.
I rarely use kit decals anyway, I like to do something different from the box offerings.
The postage and packing is ridiculously expensive. Unless I'm missing something
It is dear, but I normally get mine at Telford or mixi-blob up with friends and share the postage
Modellers...unbelievable...🤣Soooo true pal. Wait a minute?? We are modellers too...😕Have a great weekend mate.
You know the "modellers" I mean mate!
Who would you say are some of the best aftermarket decal companies Jamie?
There are too many to mention mate, most are pretty brilliant!
What kit does get the piece of fw 190??
The Royal Class Fw 190A-8
Postage is what it is. Have you had any customs charges added too?
No, I guess I've been lucky!
Bit of a random question, how did you add more glass stands in your cabinet?
I got some extra shelves for my cabinet but I had to take a shelf to a local glass company who copied it
@@MrJ027 thank you, what did you use to attach them to the cabinet?
@@lukejsmodels2331 there are extra screw holes to adjust shelving so i put longer screws in to balance shelf. My cabinet is different to Jamies
I recycled some old ones that were going to get ditched.
meant to say , my favorte manufacturer by miles is Special Hobby , and yes modellers , lol you confuse me your not back yet
