I think Jin's vocals (that's him at the very begining) give it that "spooky vibe" you speak of.
The spooky vibe is mostly because of the music. The scale they used
“Come Back Home” is actually a remake of a song by the legendary group Seo Taiji and Boys. They were the first “kpop” group (basically provided the groundwork for kpop) and really had a huge impact on what kpop became and the censorship laws in Korea.
The song is about Seo Taiji’s experience after running away from home as a youth and wrote it to encourage other youths that had run away to return home (despite how hard life at home might be).

this song is a cover/remake of a song by legendary 90's group seo taiji and boys, seo taiji picked bts specifically to remake the song bc as we all know bts' music is heavily influenced by old school hip hop from the states but also from korea and also bc a lot of korean ppl, including seo taiji himself, have said that bts reminds them of seo taiji and boys with the way they connect with the newer generations through their lyrics the same way seo taiji connected with the now older generation, they performed it live for their 4th muster and with seo taiji for his 25th concert both are amazing you should definitely check out whichever one you want
I can't believe you haven't watch the live with Seo TaeJin, the leader of the original group singing it!!! I cried to see them together, they were the first K-pop group, in Korea a LEYEND (the guys even call him dad 🥺). They are the greatest influence to BTS that made kpop comeback to voice social injustice and a platform to speak up people's hardships. Somewhere between Seo TaeJin and BTS that message was lost, and that's why in Korea Idols were taken so lightly because it became music without a message behind or a greater purpose than entertainment.
I recommended this back when they first started reacting. I also said that they need not react but to at least check it out 😉. It may have a blocking issue as it's live. Anyhoo, I hope they do as I think they would like it.

This is a remake from Seo Taiji and The Boys! Seo Taiji is the godfather of Kpop. He's seen as the first person to bring the eastern sounds together with the western sounds and add hiphop and rock elements into his music. He's basically the pillar of Kpop. He's a legend in Korea and for his 25th anniversary he had an album where other Korean artists remade all his hit songs. BTS did this. Even more than that Seo Taiji invited BTS to his 25th anniversary concert and perform with him "the boys" from Seo Taiji and The Boys.
Which was remarkable considering this was back in 2017 and before BTS released the Love Yourself series /DNA. BTS was popular but they weren't THÉ BTS yet at the time. So off all people for him to choose BTS to perform with him was a big honor for BTS.
Definitely check out some of the performances from that concert cuz it was so cool to see BTS perform as back up for a legend like that. He even thought all the dance moves to BTS himself in person. BTS were very touched.
