when i first entered the fandom i had a lot of problems at home and struggled with depression harder than today and bts found me so i didn't deny them and this song came to me at the right moment where I wanted to give up on everything. that phrase "follow your dreams like breaker, even if it breaks down better" bro, was too motivating. I remember that I cried a lot in my dark and dirty room because of what I had and I told myself that everything had to change but I had to do it first and it did. I am always grateful for my boys because I owe them a part of what I am now, that's why they are very important to me. tomorrow became my song until today and I will not let go.

Bts also found me at the darkest time in my life. I’ve been living in my truck for the past 7 months and if it wasn’t for BTS I don’t know if I could get through this. They have given me such strength and hope (jhope 🥰 love him dearly) through their music and their beautiful souls. I listen to them or watch their funny videos and it gives me strength to keep going and never give up. Ty for your honest words they also give me strength. Tomorrow is such a special song for Bts and for us Army 💜 i feel like Tomorrow feels different from any other bts songs. the mood of the song and the lyrics, the dance give it a special presence ✨️
their songs tell their stories from certain period of their lives and what they are going thru and what they think. they address that thru their songs and albums, usually an album has a theme and they write around it. it's like a biography thru writing songs kinda. Tomorrow belongs to the same album Spine breaker is in and that is Skool Luv Affair that is a culmination of School trilogy albums. then they released Youth trilogy where (the most beautiful moment in life pt1+2 and Young forever) where Baepsae is. the stories and chapters of their lives are connected and that might be why you feel like some songs reference each other.
some of their songs becomes a reflection to new songs, like where RM was responding to his verse from Save me in I'm fine. or when they reference the sea and dessert or Suga's big house, big cars and big rings appears on different songs but with different approach. or what they did with their Map of the soul albums, how they were a reflection of their earlier albums which are the school and youth trilogies...
the amount of thought and care the guys put to release a song let alone an album is mind-blowing

Note: There was a diss battle called “control diss battle” in Korean hip hop scene in the summer of 2013. Rappers involved in this battle used the beat from ‘Control,’ a song by Big Sean, featuring Kendrick Lamar and Jay Electronica (side note: ‘Control’ itself called out rappers by name and was responded with many diss tracks). Many well-known and rookie rappers participated in this battle (link to a Soompi article with timeline), and ‘I downloaded the Control beat’ became a popular slang meaning ‘to recriminate.’ In Konglish (Korean-style English), ‘download’ is often shortened to ‘down,’ which completes the wordplay here: “I keep feeling down like the Control beat gets down’ed.”

I had this song on repeat all throughout highschool. Like this is really THAT song yall.
I think you're overthinking the "references" part :D :))))) Move is about them moving out of their first "dorm." 4 o clock was made way after Tomorrow, like a couple years after. The breaker part I think it's just them using random English - they wouldn't be the only ones adding english words that often make no sense or are not used the same irl. Tomorrow is basically an encouragement to all those struggling and feeling like they're not going anywhere, it's just telling you to keep going because this is not the end of your life and it will get better.:)
I always thought that "breaker" means rule-breaker because breaker is short for rule-breaker (Google will most definitely confirm that) and so to me it makes sense. It's basically saying that you should follow your dreams like a person that doesn't care. A rule-breaker, someone who doesn't care if something is wrong and doesn't follow what others tell them to do. People shouldn't listen or try to fit into what people tell them to or what society does. Especially young people should be a little less tense and just follow what they want and people like that are often seen as (especially in school and it's a big problem in Korea) misfits, poorly mannered/raised or "rule-breakers", since they break this rule that our society has basically set for them. My grandparents were furious when they found out that I am studying psychology and not medicine or law. It's not even that big of a deal, but my Asian grandparents said that my mother had raised me badly and a lot of other young people have to face that as well. I was basically breaking their "rules" by doing what I wanted. Sorry for the long text, but I just wanted to explain how I interpret the word.

Suga said their music and albums are following/telling an overarchin story so it means that while they may be talking about other topics in new songs thers still a bridge between them bcs thats how life is everything has to do with everything.
Tomorrow talks about the frustrations of being a young person without a dream/ goal. But theyre also empowering you to keep moving forward without forgeting your roots/core-values bcs, even when life is going to be shit sometimes, it doesnt mean you failed, you can always take a break, (for the sake of your mental health) and start over again to find your own dream/happines.

I love the sound of this song. And the lyrics are beautiful. The choreography to this song is one of my favorites. They have the smoothest transitions when they perform. Another one you should check out is Am I Wrong.
I love this song so much. One of the song and one of Suga's masterpiece that motivates me a lot and it still doing that. Sometime you won't understand certain lines/meaning until you yourself go through it and Namjoon verse is what I am exactly feeling right now. And reading that made me think I am not alone who feels that way. The three word "Don't give up" "never give up" is what I always live up to and I always tell myself to be that way like no matter what don't give up and keep going but whenever I feel like giving up or down, BTS and their songs are always there to comfort, motivate and remind me to keep going and to not give up. Tomorrow is one of those songs. BTS always finds you when you need them.
And though it seems like the songs you mentioned are connected, it's not actually. All these songs are part of their growth, their stories and how they were feeling in the process, so some lyrics may seem similar. They do use some lines here and there but the breaker in Spine Breaker and in Tomorrow is different. Here the breaker means something like breaking through all the obstacle and difficulties in life...keep chasing your dream no matter what, keep going.
I was unemployed for a year because of the pandemic. I was already ARMY, but I took that time to listen to all their albums in whole and in order, and Tomorrow became one of my favorite songs during that time. I decided to start grad school and then I got a job in my field, and then everything looked brighter, just like the song describes. Tomorrow really means a lot to me.
Tomorrow was released before 4 o'clock like a 2 year gap but yes it's a similar feel with the lyrics. Suga wrote that part. It's honestly such a memorable and meaningful lyric that is still being talked about by the fandom every now and then.

They aren’t exactly making song references, it’s what they sing about. They relate, because this is what they sing/write about. Things that apply to people of their generation and of course beyond that. 4 O’ Clock is a song written and released to soundcloud and is not meant to be related to other BTS songs. But, since members write what they know and relate to, it will seem related lol.
I love this song, it’s one of my favorites. Never get tired of it. The message is beautiful, the music is so so good, the singing is fantastic. A true masterpiece.

I don't think you're wrong for noticing connections to a lot of other songs! They have so many running themes throughout their entire discography and topics that they always come back to. Just the other day I listened through Suga's mixtapes and compiled a whole list of references to other songs, both within the mixtape and across BTS's larger body of works, and even if I only include the works that are pretty much directly quoted, you still have to listen to 7 additional outside songs to fully catch all the references in his mixtapes (funnily enough, Tomorrow was one of the ones on that list, which makes sense since Yoongi produced this song and was one of the main writers).
Personally I think that's one of the biggest strengths of their discography. You can listen to songs on their first album and not only connect the themes to their latest albums, but also see how they've progressed and grown and learned. My favorite thing about their music is that, the more I listen, the more connections I can catch, both in the BTS songs and in all of their individual works. You can really tell that they have a huge influence on each other!

bts' recurring theme is about progressing, always keep working, not quitting.
so the references you mentioned aren't intentional in tomorrow, but they make that you are getting truly deep in bts' lyricism. we do see the same and join or find references all the time too. that's just the beauty of bts' lyrics.
also 4'o clock is ACTUALLY about Jimin and Tae's story and friendship. tae had written it after their dumpling fight and solving it.
they both had solved the fight at a park at the crack of dawn, so while tae was waiting there for Jimin to show up he got the inspiration and lyrics to make the song.

Yes you for Feel similarities and connections to lyrics in other songs. I think mainly because the writer is the same and that's how you can tell they weight their own stuff. Like RM mentions Moonchild in 4 o clock and later had a track called Moonchild in his 2nd mixtape mono. He also speaks of a maze and then you will see young forever and love maze. Its almost like progressions of the thoughts and feelings they were experiencing. All this lends itself to a more authentic experience.

Recurrent themes or expressions are not unusual with BTS. Remember BTS has put out an extraordinary number of songs and prior to say 2017 or 2018 the number of people who actually deep dove into BTS songs most likely was not all that high. View counts for early material for instance sometimes even to today are somewhat meager despite the material's impressive quality. So yes in an effort toward effective communication and expression, certain BTS lines have become almost signature in that they seem to show up in more than one track.
This song remains to this day my fave BTS song. I played it 137 time last year in my Spotify playlist wrapped 😂

The difference between Move and tomorrow meanings, for me, Move was written at the time they accualy changed apartments, when they left that small apartment were they worked so hard, as they said.. Cried a lot, laugh to, created the bond, but yes moving meant they had succeeded, better, bigger things were coming.
Tomorrow is about moving, in progress.. But not run, and especially not just because is cool to run towards something, maybe better then running you'd better move towards your dream, use your young energy(breaker.. Like work hard, put in the effort) into your passion, something that will make your tomorrow (happy)
As for the distortions, maybe a bit too strong, but I think it had to do with the lirics, the uncertainty, confusion... (Maybe) like young people in Korea (not only) study a lot, put their hole life into study something and don't even stop to think if that is really what they want, what they like, if that is what they want to do in life...

Move, work, do something... but do you, work for your dream. Hard times will come, and go... If you are feeling down , discouraged, better day will come, after every night comes the day, the sun will shine... So positive messages to motivate you to find your way and follow it

BTS songs are meant to inspire .. the essence of this song is no matter what yesterday was and whats happening today never go back because tomorrow will be better .. they wrote this song to inspire themselves as well as their fans .. thats what I get out if this song and most of BTS music .. they don't sing fluff, all their music meaninful and inspiring, I would even venture to say healing, like Epiphany 👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜 from the breaker part I think it means when you feel you can't go anymore, pause pick yourself up and when you feel you are ok press play and continue because tomorrow will be better 👍👍👍👍

I absolutely love tomorrow and it’s not of their tracks songs but it is soo good. I would suggest listening to Wishing on a Star. It is a japanese song but it’s worth it, hearing their vocals and there’s something about them singing in japanese that really highlights them.

This is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I love the message and the choreography. If you don't know the meaning of the song, it just looks and feels like an awesome and powerful performance with sexy dance moves. Once you know the meaning, it makes sense, the way they tell the story with their dance as well as their lyrics. Once of my favorite B sides. They don't have bad B sides, and most of them are awesome. Probably all of them.💜
