First of all, I'm Korean. (I’m not good at eng 😂) The original singer of this song is Seo Taiji, a famous Korean male solo singer. That song was a big hit in Korea a long time ago. After that song was released, teenagers who ran away from home often returned home. That's the song that BTS remade. Seo Taeji even invited BTS as a guest at his solo concert. BTS became so close that they called him 'father'. I'm proud of them.

This song is not original from the boys, it's by an artist named Seo Taiji, a Korean music legend and the most important artist in the country until BTS, he was the one who asked them to do a new version of the song, and also named Bangtan his successors.

As a korean, seo tae ji was cultural phenomenal at that time. Because his music was totally different from the usual music in Korea music industry. Especially to the youth. Even now he doesn't come out at tv but everyone remember him. I mean almost every generation knows him. Also because of the song's tittle was 'come back home' runaway teenagers who left their home and wander went back home... This information makes me more proud of BTS because it means they collaborated with real OG in korea who actually had willing to give some meaningful massage to youth. Because that's what BTS is trying to do.

This song is originally by seo taiji & boys and bts remaked it on request of seo taiji for his 25th anniversary, the lyrics are changed, bts put there own style in this song :)
I think they did something similar to what they did with Cole's Born Sinner/Born Singer. They kept the "sung" parts almost identical to the original but changed the rap lines. But on this case they kept some of the more iconic lines even on the verses.

Remember the days Jungkook was the ONLY one who could reach the higher registers in his voice? Now they all can. Way to go Jin! Perhaps, now we'll get to watch Jungkook develop and explore his lower registers with us.
If you watched the MV of this, you can see in the ending scene there's a guy holding a VHS tape with the title "Seo Taiji" and when he flipped it, the title at the back was "BTS". That scene was like passing the legacy of Seo Taiji to BTS. As both of their music tackles about social issues.
This is still one of my fave performances and Jhopes stage presence in this is NEXT LEVELLLLL💜💜

13:49 the set is like that dude because it's a clip from the BTS 4th Muster "Happy Ever After" and with their theme, they had those jars filled with cotton candy that represents some kind of memory from their past as BTS and with ARMY. :)) The talk parts were so sweet tbh, they showed lots of old nostalgic clips.
Fun fact: the time when this song came out, it was when the Kings of 1st generation kpop, Seo Taiji and the Boys, passed down their torch (crown) to BTS. That was huge in the kpop community because Seo Taiji and the Boys were basically the start of kpop and the foundation for it. This song is just a cover from Seo Taiji and the Boys but BTS really did it justice. Also, this came out around the time that BTS was starting to become big.
You can say that BTS are the kings of kpop now thanks to Seo Taiji and the Boys for passing down that torch.

A little insight for people who don't know, So the original song is from 90's by seo taiji and boys group, they are the first k-pop group who broke stereotypes in korea making songs about youth and it became a movement, style, a way of life then among the teenagers back then and BTS's inspiration are seo taiji considering they also started with the concept of school, youth, rebel etc. Their original song of Seo taiji "come back home" had such big impact that the runaway teenagers actually came back home (come back home) after listening to the song
Seo taiji and BTS are a movement we needed in our monotonous world to break the corrupt society 💜

There is a commemorative concert by Seo Taiji were they perform this song with him. They also perform some other songs with him on that concert, or just dance on the background or act as hype men. It was then when he was saying he was passing his torch to them. I think he singled them out because they touch some of the social issues Seo Taiji and Boys mentioned on their songs too.
