Dylan Talks Tone Recieves Commision From Some Of These Links Видеоклипы
I've learned to be ok with missing out. Best growth project of my life.
@Thomas B N4G 'nuff said.
Two important things to add. Although you can't capture with this device, you can play other user's captures. There are 100's available already (for free). It's the main reason I bought it. I now have every amp I have ever dreamed of owning. At $399, it is a fantastic value and a must buy.
And the quality is insane. Some people have done hundreds of captures for free and they are the best sounds I've ever played.
In terms of input levels, Ik Multimedia just released a new update that recalibrates the input to true zero, rather than being calibrated to +8db when set to zero (as it was before)... Now when you check the default input, it is set to +8db... If your amp captures sounds more high gain that your actual amp with the same guitar at the same settings... reduce the input gain from +8db to 0. Just a tip that someone gave me that fixed my issue, in case anyone else is experiencing higher gain than expected.
Spot on man. I’m going to chuck on the board, turn the ir off and use it as a preamp into the effects loop return of an evh 5150.
Got my ToneX and have it paired with an HX stomp. I will not need anything else for guitar playing needs. Love it.
The issue I have with Tonex and other profilers is that I have to rely on other people to dial it in and hope that I find what I want since I'm never going to be bothered with doing my own captures. It sounds absolutely amazing though, gotta respect them for doing a hardware unit at like a fraction of kemper, neural, and headrush prices.
The issue I have with ToneX and other profilers is that I have to rely on other people to dial it in and hope that I find what I want since I'm never going to be *able* to do a capture because I can't afford a tube/valve amp in the first place and have no pedals. So, with the price at $800 AUD and no pedals it's not an "impulse" purchase, it's something I really need to think about.
This is really the perfect review because my use case would be like you say, 3 or 4 favourite amp tones and get on with playing.
That sounds amazing. Dylan’s tone is killer
Thanks so much for this video! I’ve been on the fence but this answered a tone of questions for me.
Thanks, Dylan. I'm late, too. I like the plug and play, so to speak. It sounds like something I could actually figure out and use.
I’ve been using the iPad version - just the free 20 downloads was plenty (a few choice amps and then a couple of drives). I put it in AUM and use some effects pre/post straight into a PA sounds and feels really good.
An alternative to Tonex Capture (hardware): the AXE I/O interfaces have a re-amp function that eliminates the need for the Capture (that box). The new AXE I/O One (single input) @ $130 has this re-amp fxn.
Great review Dylan ! I would appreciate if they would deliver this in amp combo format too….
Great video. This is how I plan to use it!
Thanks for sharing!
Pretty much what I’m doing. My pedalboard is tuner -> pedals -> tonex -> mixer -> headphones. No pedals after the tonex though as I’m not ready to drop $$$$ on stereo-in-and-out modulation pedals. But I can plug my phone or laptop into the mixer and mix in backing tracks or TrueFire courses. It’s a great tool for learning and practice with options to change things if I want to. Loading a few great captures, getting away from the PC and playing more/tinkering less.
Dylan - thank for a de-geeked, practical use video of what appears to be a great product.
Good review! Thanks
Been waiting for it for months. I’m actually getting to the “over it” stage. 😂
I'm late to this, but I really appreciate this video. I bought one and use it just as you. It's quite amazing.
I think jou are a bit biased against NUX, because of one bad experience with the software.
As an "apartment" guitarist, I find everything I need in the Nux Amp Academy; at $200 you get 12 amps and 12 IR's, plus 16 slots for after market IR's. It does have an effects loop but no possibility to download other amps.
This pedal was only reviewed by Peter Thorn and CSguitars, it is not available at Sweetwater or Guitar Center. BUT it is a bestseller in Europe, Asia and South-America and gets great reviews on the youtube channels in those parts of the world.
I really would like to hear your (and your viewers) opinion on this divide.
Do Americans like to buy the same super sophisticated tool as the stars and use only 5% of its potential?
Just teasing, I really like your content.
Amazing pedal. Sold my quad cortex now and using it with real pedals and g3 switcher
It’s fascinating what technology can do nowadays. I believe when you approach modern gear, you have to realize you’re in one of two camps. Number one, you love playing around with effects and shoe gazing, or number two, you just like to plug-in and play like those of yesteryear. I myself have that latter old school spirit, so newfangled modelers with thousands of options is overwhelming for me. Give me a great amp, a decent pedal, and my guitar and I’m fine.
thanks Dylan, great job as always
Dylan
What a review sounds awesome
Sounds interesting
Sounds like a keeper unit
Thank YOU!
It's an awesome pedal ...you get a lot for the money, sounds incredible and last but not least it's easy to use 😉
And my crush on the Fiore continues. Never shoulda sold mine.
I’m hoping for a SE version Fiore 😍
Still backordered...patiently waiting.
HI dylan, you said you used tonex for your quite playing pleasure too. tell me please where it is plugged to, to get a good room guitar sound ( except to head phones) ?
monitors ? cab ? thank you.
Thx for the information. I want to use the TONEX to replace my current tube amp and take advantage of the cabs/IRs. In your opinion what is the best route to take for speakers/output?
I'd love to hear that explorer with a set of your humbucker sized p90s in it. I bet that beast would sound amazing with those pups.
Would this sound good going through a solid state 80 watt amp. In other words, can I turn my 80 watt Crate amp into a JCM 800 or Orange amp?
hey Dylan, great run thru man. Have you tried using it thru an amp? I play a 50 watt Marshall Origin head thru a Marshall 2x12" with pedals. It has tons and tons of clean headroom. Do you think the ToneX would work well with it if I just wanted to get diferent amp tones ? thks
I wish they would add the Capture into the Pedal.
Cool board! ? why not use those other 2 IK products on your wall on the board with some midi switching?
Did you play it into an frfr speaker ? ( active wedge or something ) How does that sounds ? In my experience all these things ( moddelers etc sounds fantastic in headphones or via RUclips but when you plug it in to an active 8 or 12 inch frfr speaker … you hear “ plastic “ ( the powered p.a. kind of speakers give those units a “ plastic” fake sound to my ears . Wonder how this thing reacts with a powered speaker
How many amps and cabs come preloaded and are they models or captures? Anything notable?
Nice boots!
This thing seems amazing!

I haven't had enough time playing at volume where my guitar responds to the amp to be ready to dismiss it and play into a computer at bedroom volume.
My #1 want is a big empty room. Not a new guitar, not a pedal.
I want a detached house with no annoying neighbours living above me who never go out and always seen to be in the room above me when I'm playing.
Dang! You've just sold me this.
Dylan, what are your options for getting the sound out of the Tonex? Do I plug it in the front of my real amp? Plug it into a cab? Plug it directly into some powered monitors? Into the FX Return on my real amp?
Most people would plug it in to studio monitors, PA speakers, headphones, or FRFR speakers. It gives you the amp AND the cab sounds. If you wanted you could bypass the cab function on the tonex and go in to the fx loop return of your amp (if it has one) to just use the cab portion of your amp. Similarly you could disable cab feature on the tonex and go in to an external cab (as long as you power it somehow). It doesn't really make sense to use this go straight in to the front of your amp.
The appeal is lightweight and flexibility. I think it’s fantastic……However, I could also be happy with a small real Princeton tube amp or similar DIY clone and be happy with it
I can't find the Dragon Drop button to send the amp to my pedal. please help
Players would still need to buy an amplifier ($$$$) and or speakers ($$$$) PLUS the Tone X ($$$) to get the sounds out of the unit vs ONE full unit that literally does everything. (And or a DAW/INTERFACE/Computer etc.) which is also $$$$$$$$$
You got Paul or Dylan pickups in that lettieri?
how does it take fuzz?
How do they sound straight into a mixer
Time based after Tone X is more like studio sound. Does it not have an FX loop so that it goes in between amp capture and the IR sound to be closer to an amp. Outside studio most still have time based coming out a cab. I stil llike to run pre amp sims/modellers in to the time based and then in to the IR.
The problem I'm finding with captures is that there are just so many. Its a never ending sea and daunting to sift through. If the IK ones are fine thats okay. BUt if not then the search begins.
Even the NAM has tonnes of captures coming and its hard to know which are good. I've found the ones I like and have stopped the search for now.
What if they come up with a rating system so guitar players as a community choose the best ones?
@@maspesasmasperras5554 they definitely need something like that. i dont have a Tone X but from what i can see from some reviewers, particularly unpaid reviewers is that the menu, sorting and cataloging system for Tone X is very clunky and will probably only get worse if they dont fix it
tone also has pedals, why the need for extra?
How is this different from a Helix, or a pod go at a similar price point, conceptually?
It is purely a capture storer/player with limited effects (reverb and compression) and some eq functionality. Coupled with ToneNet and capturing (using your computer/software) it becomes part of a powerful universe that is relatively inexpensive but very broad.
If I could be convinced/assured that the amp/cab combinations are substantially "better" than what's on my Pod Go, I would consider getting one of these, putting IT into the Pod Go's effects loop and shutting off the amp and cab blocks in my Pod Go presets.
I don't really know how to verify how good they are, though.
I can't for the life of me why people whine about Dylan's playing. He sounded great in this video. I'd pay to see him play.
He’s actually as good as Jimmy Page
Is Dylan from Honduras, EL Salvador or the like?
@@maspesasmasperras5554 He’s from Georgia
@@maspesasmasperras5554 He’s Native American and grew up in a reservation I think in Arizona and currently lives in the Augusta Georgia area
This sound like what everyone wanted to HX Stomp to be.
I not seen anyone plug straight into a mixer deck
Black Out Curtains = Pro
Did the price go up grime $399?
No. I misspoke link below
As soon as I heard this, I came and started farding.
id rather use nam. I have the tone x and it sounds like crap for recording
User error? 😉
@@Dead-Eye 100%
@@JayOneAlumni Me too.
That's bullshit it is not crap at all. But if you are looking for a closer copy of an amp signal Nam is the tool to use. ToneX get's you damn close though and you can put it on a pedal board. Try putting a Plug-in in the pedal board and see you far you get.
@@vaughanmacegan4012 not be it’s crap man sorry. It’s just how it is. Theirs no usable sounds for recording
Still $540ish Canadian. Sounds good, though, through your chain.
how do you go from tonex to speaker in room?
He’s using the computer
Nice hair
So many toys....
I just had the tonex for about a month. There is a lot of hype around it but I’m sorry.. there is no way it stands up against fractal, kemper or even the new UA pedals. They have used very good marketing to hit up RUclips demo guys and a lot of people forcing you to buy it. It is not worth what it does and it sounds like a glorified plugin box. If you didn’t like amplitube you won’t like this pedal. I would hands down go QC, fractal, kemper or UA before ever using this again. Up for sale and sold immediately. IMHO
Simple.....for simple people like me
No I'm good lol!
Quilter has been making pedals size amps for about 7 years. As well as the best non tube amps for close to15 years. It's a shame you haven't heard about them. They are way ahead of the others.
How do you know I haven’t heard of them ;) …. And those are not this.
If you run a Stereo pedalboard this unit is completely useless.
