Thank you! Thank you, thank you thank you for not being like half the third gen owners out there and just adjusting the decklid back. Kudos for spending the money and doing the correct job the correct way. Keep the third gen content coming.
Yeah finally the 3rd gen again, and excellent tips ! Won't work for me though since I have a 1987 Camaro Iroc Z-28 Convertible, but any other 3rd gen owner may have some serious tips here! Excellent work, and please keep those 3rd gen video's and other video's comin' !
Sweeeeet. Thank you so much for making this video, new follower here and as soon as I finished watching this, I went straight to Hawks to order the billet hinges and billet bolts.I even got 15% off for it being memorail day weekend. Woop Woop!! I cant wait for them to get here. It really gets on my nerves seeing the hatch like that in my 91 Z28😢. I appreciate yall guys and I will watch more of your videos tomorrow because it is 03:20 am🤣🤣.
I'm pretty sure the problem actually lies in the bolts on the rear side of the hatch under the plastic cover. The issue is the struts that have to be strong to keep the hatch up, and when down they push extreamly hard and force the spoiler portion backward over time.
Got a question. I am trying to do mine, but I did not quite understand from where you got the material to make the hinge gaskets. Could I possibly use tire tube rubber?
The Hawks hinges are a quality part, I have them on my 88' Trans Am. I went around and around with this and found 3 sources of the overbite hatch: 1. Bad hinges like on Bearded's car and the purple Camaro, easy way to tell is the body to hinge gap being what it is on the purple car then new hinges will be great. 2. The windshield urethane and butyl gave up where the glass meets the decklid and pressure from the struts pushed it out. Seems more likely in cars that sat outside a lot. 3. Not to be overlooked but replacement hatch struts that were too powerful, the extra power can push the hatch out of alignment, my car had that and I went with struts for cars W/O spoiler and W/O wiper and they work well with my Hawks fiberglass aerowing.
Incorrect. 86 wasn't the only year for the upper outer brake light. Early 87 had both the 3rd high mount outside and in the spoiler. It's was brief that the 87 had the upper outer brake light.
Glad you still have the 3rd gen!

Did they provide a torq spec for the bolts on the glass?
You are correct on 86 I have one.
thats a great year !
You still looking into the l98 tpi swap? I remember you mentioning before in a previous video
Yessir, got almost everything ready for it. Just waiting on garage space lol

We got a nerd in the chat!!! :) JK I know some of the differentiating parts on the different model years but I'm still at the tip of the iceberg
@@beardedreviews 😂 I got an 87 GM brochure that shows the unique rear glass with the brake light.
