SHANE VAN BOENING vs EARL STRICKLAND - 2015 "Make-It-Happen" 10-Ball Invitational

- Shane Van Boening and Earl Strickland were two of the players invited to the 2015 “Make-It-Happen” 10-Ball Invitational.
If you described one of these players as a five time US Open 9-Ball Champion and thought of as one of the greatest pool players that the game has ever seen, you wouldn’t know which player we were referring to, as the description matches both players.
Earl “The Pearl” Strickland between 1984 and 2000, while “The South Dakota Kid” Shane Van Boening won his five titles between 2007 and 2016.
They have both won just about every title that the game has to offer, and you would be kidding yourself if you didn’t think this match meant a lot to both players.
Bill Incardona and Danny Diliberto called all of the action.

🙏 Thank you sincerely for uploading this piece of history and sharing it for the whole to see - I still cannot believe how lucky I am to see all these videos ... One after another for free whenever time permits 🙏 I remember in the late 90's & Early 2000's when my friends and I would would buy different ACCU-STAT tapes and we would trade and share with each other around Central Florida 🙏 ... 💔😢💔 I have one very tragic and heartbreaking story that I could share that goes along with this theme yet I will not go into specific detail here ... All I will say is I was friends with the owner of a pool hall and he had a Son and my Mirror Image Identical Twin Brother and I would go over to his house and his Son would let us borrow some of his Accu-Stat tapes ... Well that Son who was quite young at that time is in Prison for life now and has been there for approximately 20 years now over something he did that was tragically life altering in many heartbreaking facets and negatively effected many lives 💔😭💔
Shane was super good here I like the wooden shaft and his stroke !
2015 was truly a different era. isn't that scary? Shane has admitted that Earl was one of his biggest inspirations, which makes this classic match all the more special. Thanks for the upload!
Sorry I missed the premiere pool fam…..Big thanks so much for this one Pat!!!
Greatest commentating power couple in any form of media great video Pat
are u insane?
@@Synrgiii most definitely
you arent though becuase u have all this tryhardness about you...stop being corny. insanity is real, u shouldnt mock the mentally disabled...@@chriscripplercruz1833
SVB, one of my favorites, probably the GOAT, but Earl is the GOAT at making hard rack look easy, his stroke is so so so so smooth. The brain of his, not so much! ;)
earls psycology is all tactical. u arent payin attention
Earl might be the best shot maker ever and definitely top 5 9 ball ever.
@@jeffreyyoungblood7438lol top 5?
hes the greatest 9ball player ever
who won world champion more than earl?
@@hehe-oi4gm the competition wasn't that good back then.
@@jeffreyyoungblood7438 lol wasnt that good? LMAO
Earl met so many legends including Efren, Bustamante, Nick Varner, Steve Mizerak etc lmaoo It's up to you how much you want to discredit Strickland, but until now no one touching his record
only svb touch 5 us open
1:2 increíble 😮la bola que fallo, pero así es el juego, las bolas más fáciles aveces se fallan por la confianza, al tirar
I love the way no one is better than Earl, they are just "lucky." I miss watching him get butt hurt all the time.
The 2 G.O.A.T.'s title for title matched up
15:56 I'm really glad that kick shots still count as slop and that all other shots have to be made on purpose.
As controversial as this may be, Danny n Billy are my favorite commentators.
They are awful
garbage opinion.
With JJ Danny is terrific; with Bill just a back up guy.
Question.....what size shaft does shane play with 12.5 or 11.8?
Two years ago he was using an 11.8mm HOW tip. Search YT for this vid:
"What The World Champ Plays With / SVB 5x US OPEN CHAMP"
42:17 it should be whoever makes the last object ball that happens to be on the table wins the game, then Shane would have had to shoot the 9 in also.
Don't really like how Earl seemingly keeps complaining about his own shots. It's like, dude, you're the one doing it. :) Ok, edit: NGL, Earl had some pretty epic bad luck in this.
Earl is so talented it’s scary. Much better than van boening in his prime.
😂😂😂
@@daveowen9003 he was
Much better is either wrong or a stretch
@@noway9426 definitely better
Are your parents aware of your mental disability?
1:08:39 that cue ball was not going in the side! But Earl touched it so the foul was called, and the sorry thing about it is, maybe I'm wrong, but SVB would have been snookered! Or what?
huh
I noticed that myself looked like it was gonna hit just short of the point i think it likely would've glanced off the 8 and tucked behind the ten maybe the 9 but definitely snookered Earl was frustrated and wanted this game to be over on another note one of the best matches shane has ever played
I feel bad for everyone here: Earl, the crowd and Accu-Stats. He literally treats them like a battered wife ... leaving them with little options except to feel abused and without options of how to act acceptably. Demanding praise ... only to (I'm assuming) make him feel embarrassed // humiliated for asking (or should). And for Earl..? Anyone who actually plays pool has to understand what he's feeling; that he can do nothing adequate to the challenge. He actually not only is the underdog ... but he does get some bad rolls. All around an unhappy experience. I also understand the people who'll feel no sympathy for Earl. All around a sad experience. Obviously, not everything he thinks of as a bad roll or bad luck actually is. Much if it is just good play by SVB ... some (not all however) caused by his inadequate break. But, when balls line up to a dead 10-ball combo? For all the angles that exist..? One certainly can't call that a good roll. Or having ran out only to miss the 10 ... as each successive shot gets increasingly more difficult. No matter what though ... Earl just sucks all the possible joy out of an event Accu-Stats generously put on and INVITED Earl to ... out of the realm of possible. 😢
45:50 it should be whoever makes the last object ball that happens to be on the table wins the game, then Shane would have had to shoot the rest of the balls after making the easy combo on the 10 ball.
Thank God SVB didn’t model his attitude after Earl. Earl gets annoying when he’s getting schooled.
“U dirty rat”😂😂😂😂
I wonder if earl thought shane was a great player yet or still 'just good'
Nothing like watching Earl make an ass of himself. Nothing like being one of the best in history and being known most for being a giant tool
Was Earl an only child?
He certainly acts like it.
can we get the match of jhonny archer vs bustamante where archer white washed him
I don't think it was filmed
Billy I's commentary is a bit tiresome.
He's 62 and still great !!!!
So is it a call shot game or not?
Not
It is, but not on rail first shots
@@davidbehrens4760 Thanks.
👁️👁️
Earl is such a Cry Baby.
He tells it like it is. Shane is the type of guy who holds it in so long that he becomes a serial killer. Luckily he hasn't yet
these announcers are so bad. its like sitting across from grandpa while eating dinner and he takes his dentures out and starts telling a stroy about the war =s
These are 2 of the greatest pool commentators to ever do it.
@Joshua_t_ nah..I think nostalgia is clouding your vision
