First time I've ever heard Earl narrate a match, and I've watched them all. He's better than all the regulars, and it's nice to hear him laugh. When he plays he is so intense, some people are fooled into thinking he is mad all the time. This professional play-by-play is unmatched.
I don't believe that pool would have made it this far or have been this popular if Earl had never entered the pool scene! Earl was talking to me and another guy while he practiced in Atlanta. He was hitting different shots then he looke at us and said "my tip is fixing to come off." The next shot his tip flew off. Hell of a call.

As an amateur player it is amazing to hear Earl commentating and analyzing a great match between two giants. It makes the game much more enjoyable to watch and to understand why they choose the shots they play and how much english and spin they apply for each shot. This insightful commentating really helps amateur players to become better. I was never a big fan of Earl just because of his temperament, but one for sure he has one of the biggest knowledge in the history of the game, and I truly respect him for that, and he's quite funny too! Hope we will hear him commentating many more times in the future! Way to go, Billiard Network! :)

I've heard Earl on the mic only 3 or 4 times over the years. Every single time I said to myself he's the best commentator I ever heard. This is coming from being a pool junkie for 25 years, and watching tapes/dvd/livestream/RUclips all of those years of professional matches. This match is super good. Good job putting Earl on the mic. Edit to add I put him tied maybe with Bentivegna commentating one pocket matches for my all time favorite commentator. They both know their craft so well, and have an amazing communication style for us fans.
Unlike other announcers (I won't mention names) Earl predicted the correct shot 99.5% of time which is great but what is invaluable to the novice is Earl was able to tell the viewer where to strike the cue ball and with what english to achieve correct position on the next shot. Great commentating by "The Pearl". Great shooting by Shane and Corey

Listening to Earl is a real joy. This is not the person I've seen out on the pool floor. He's very educated and explains things very well even to those of us that don't know the game. His skill and ability come through with every remark. Unlike most of the commentators we hear these days a he's not running his mouth just to hear himself talk and he knows what he's talking about and he's accurate. When he doesn't know what a player is going to do he says so. What a brilliant change!

Earl Strickland's commentary is the most informative pool commentary I have ever heard. It teaches you so much about the game--it's a privilege to hear him.
Keep in mind you're listening to a 9 ball savant. Superb commentary. Earl, knowing the right way to get out and why things are done the way they are. This is what builds consistency in your game. I believe he's the only one that had enough firepower to stay with Efren in a 9 ball match. Without consistency and discipline, you'll never approach that level of play.

@@billiardnetwork After seeing this video, I'll watch any match Earl commentates. Keep in mind that Earl, by himself, is better than any two commentators (together) I've heard. Earl just seems to knows how to keep the dialog completely pertinent, focused and insightful. I can't tell you how often I've had to mute the commentators of a pool match in order to enjoy the video, while with Earl, I'm hanging on every word. So, this may be a situation where adding an additional commentator to the mix would actually take away more than it gives. Although, Jeremy Jones is also great and would be respectful to Earl. I can see a potential for synergy there, but you may have the perfect mix already: Just Earl.

Not even three minutes into the match and you can tell the commentator is the most knowledgeable person to be on a mic - Can accurately anticipate the play, not giving four different possibilities just to cover their butt because they've no idea how a pro thinks; no unwanted banter just to fill dead air; doesn't try to make the air time about himself in some manner. Absolutely fantastic commentary and a benchmark to be noted. Thank you.

This is what I’ve been waiting for, finally a true genius of the game commentating. Shane is almost like Earl’s son or prodigy. They think almost exactly the same so this proves the impact Earl has had on his game. I still believe Earl is the greatest 9 ball player ever, yes Efren overall in every discipline but Earl will always be the G.O.A.T. of nine ball. I don't believe that pool would have made it this far or have been this popular if Earl had never entered the pool scene! He has influenced so many players to start playing this sport and increasingly get better. He is the driving force that got so many people started, and they have turned Pro now! Earl was talking to me and another guy while he practiced in Atlanta. He was hitting different shots then he looke at us and said "my tip is fixing to come off." The next shot his tip flew off. Hell of a call.

OMG...met him once when he was pushing his n balls in hand handicap tourney. For a solid hour he never shut up and every other word was me or I. I finally had to leave as my hair was starting to hurt.
I am not a big ES fan but I very much enjoyed this, as a commentator hes quite humble and kind of funny.

I agree that I’m an amateur but geez Earl. You have to know that people who are watching this match probably play a lot and watch a lot of pool.
As an amateur player it is amazing to hear Earl commentating and analyzing a great match between two giants. It makes the game much more enjoyable to watch and to understand why they choose the shots they play and how much english and spin they apply for each shot. This insightful commentating really helps amateur players to become better.
I was never a big fan of Earl just because of his temperament, but one for sure he has one of the biggest knowledge in the history of the game, and I truly respect him for that, and he's quite funny too! Hope we will hear him commentating many more times in the future!

Earl The Pearl commentating is golden. He's on point with calling the shots 90% of the time. Dude even called the break shots accurate 😂. I've heard Earl on the mic only 3 or 4 times over the years. Every single time I said to myself he's the best commentator I ever heard. This is coming from being a pool junkie for 25 years, and watching tapes/dvd/livestream/RUclips all of those years of professional matches. This match is super good. Good job putting Earl on the mic.
Edit to add I put him tied maybe with Bentivegna commentating one pocket matches for my all time favorite commentator. They both know their craft so well, and have an amazing communication style for us fans.

Unlike other announcers (I won't mention names) Earl predicted the correct shot 99.5% of time which is great but what is invaluable to the novice is Earl was able to tell the viewer where to strike the cue ball and with what english to achieve correct position on the next shot. Great commentating by "The Pearl".

Listening to Earl is a real joy. This is not the person I've seen out on the pool floor. He's very educated and explains things very well even to those of us that don't know the game. His skill and ability come through with every remark. Unlike most of the commentators we hear these days a he's not running his mouth just to hear himself talk and he knows what he's talking about and he's accurate. When he doesn't know what a player is going to do he says so. What a brilliant change!

Earl Strickland's commentary is the most informative pool commentary I have ever heard. It teaches you so much about the game--it's a privilege to hear him.
Keep in mind you're listening to a 9 ball savant. Superb commentary. Earl, knowing the right way to get out and why things are done the way they are. This is what builds consistency in your game. I believe he's the only one that had enough firepower to stay with Efren in a 9 ball match. Without consistency and discipline, you'll never approach that level of play.

@@billiardnetwork After seeing this video, I'll watch any match Earl commentates. Keep in mind that Earl, by himself, is better than any two commentators (together) I've heard. Earl just seems to knows how to keep the dialog completely pertinent, focused and insightful. I can't tell you how often I've had to mute the commentators of a pool match in order to enjoy the video, while with Earl, I'm hanging on every word. So, this may be a situation where adding an additional commentator to the mix would actually take away more than it gives. Although, Jeremy Jones is also great and would be respectful to Earl. I can see a potential for synergy there, but you may have the perfect mix already: Just Earl.

Not even three minutes into the match and you can tell the commentator is the most knowledgeable person to be on a mic - Can accurately anticipate the play, not giving four different possibilities just to cover their butt because they've no idea how a pro thinks; no unwanted banter just to fill dead air; doesn't try to make the air time about himself in some manner. Absolutely fantastic commentary and a benchmark to be noted. Thank you.

This is what I’ve been waiting for, finally a true genius of the game commentating. Shane is almost like Earl’s son or prodigy. They think almost exactly the same so this proves the impact Earl has had on his game. I still believe Earl is the greatest 9 ball player ever, yes Efren overall in every discipline but Earl will always be the G.O.A.T. of nine ball. Pool brings out true character, and even more of a test than pool, is age/time... amazing to see you keep getting better & better as a person with time. Life is the real 'ghost' we're all trying to beat.
