Every single London mayor so far has turned out to be a venal, narcissistic moron (yes, even by the standards of other politicians). Imo it's time to scrap all these pointless intermediate tiers of government - the job of local councils should be to collect the bins, fix the roads, maintain the parks and manage the planning and development process. Everything else should be centrally managed.
