I was born and raised in Arizona. After 52 years, we moved to Vancouver, Washington. Even after three years, I still get excited when I see the creeks and rivers full of water! Who knew?
Gary I have to say you are a very talented craftsman! Remember when you are in the south it is said “Bless their little Hearts!” This is when someone has done something wrong!
I like golden pecan to. I've got 2 end tables & a large cabinet stained like that. It's my favorite stain color. Amazing Grace signing reminded me of my two grandma's. When I was really younger they would take me to church & we would sign that song almost everytime we went to church.... R.I.P. ~ H.M.F.1988 & G.M.W. 2011 ~ Thank you for planting the seeds for someone to come along & water them years later. Great video everyone. Thank you for sharing your videos with us, Chris from Missouri
Proud alumnus of Berea College! Have known Warren May since 1977. Congrats on your new mountain dulcimer. Check out Kentucky Music Week in Bardstown, Kentucky. A solid week of classes on many instruments including mountain dulcimers. You would really enjoy it.
I've been watching for a couple years now and I have been enjoying every minute. Something that stands out to me in each video is how the whole family is so positive. Watching you all makes me feel so good that I can't wait for each new video.
Here in Kentucky we call them wild onions. They grow everywhere. You should come back in the summer. When everything is green. Yes, most all of our rivers and streams flow all year. You were in Daniel Boone country. Thus the name Boone Tavern. You were on the edge of Daniel Boone Nation Forest. Eastern Kentucky is a very beautiful and historic area. My wife grew up in Beria. Jesse James spent a lot of time in KY, hiding from the law. He had family here. The next time you are here you should check out the horse farms around Lexington.
Also from Kentucky! I live in Richmond now but I grew up around Danville ("The City of Firsts"). When they picked up the "chives" from the ground I just kept saying to myself, "those are wild onions!" lol. I remember chewing on them now and then when I was a kid- that and honeysuckles. There's just nothing like the smell of fresh-cut Kentucky grass and wild onions on the wind. We live in a truly beautiful state filled to the brim with history and tranquility.
Please be so thankful for your father to teach you all these things! Some of us "country folk" don't have fathers. Literally the cornerstone of life are our parents. I watch y'all and am grateful for what I can give mine. I Truly appreciate the time spent, love and compassion for life that your parents give to you all! What a life you all have and a great wish for many young girls and boys!!
I came across your RUclips channel and I was captivated. So much so that I have been binge watching (just a pause for eye spray) I love your story and çan identify with your outlook on family. The building of separate earth bag bedrooms was an inspiration. I live in the UK and have lived in a cob built dwelling that was constructed in the 1500s and I loved it. I love the way you present your content and I'm surprised that you haven't got more subscribers. I have to post a link to your channel. I will be launching a podcast on a new RUclips channel soon and would love to invite you to take part if you could spare a little time. In the meantime, I will get back to my binging. Wonderful! J x
♥ The sink ledge underside should of been protected too by sealing it closest to the sink and the rest could been left be, so the under splash doesnt get to the wood. You guys werent too far off from me I live in Indiana. Awww I wish I could of bumped into you all to give you hugs. Happy you guys went on a vacation to and brought home a new set of stings ♥
It seems like adding that shiny windowsill added a LOT more LIGHT as it seems to be reflecting off the surface of the wood. It is all so beautiful, creative and debt-free! I LOVE your channel and how you continue to share the multiple talents God has given each of you. You each work so well independently, yet you also make a very strong TEAM. Blessings from Texas 💙
I enjoy all your videos so greatly. Haven't figured out how to see them in order, so I just jump around and watch whatever comes up. It's always great. I would like to make a request that you post a map of the property either a ground or air view (or both) and identify the different structures as to whose they are are (bedrooms) and when they were finished. I try to keep track but it's easy to get confused. Thank you all so much for sharing your lives and adventures with us and adding something beautiful to our lives. Prayers for God's greatest blessings on all of you and be sure to let us know when the little angel arrives. Hugs
So good yo see yall. Oh you have no idea how much it means to me to see yall's dogs, especially the Pugd! My Pug baby left me in March of last year. She and I had been together for nearly 18 years. That's a long time for a Pug....I'm 54 years old and have been a Pug owned human for over20 years, now I'm Pugless and it's a really hard thing to deal with. 😥
Love that wide kitchen window shelf Gary! With so much width and proximity to water and sunlight, coating the bottom side too will go a long way to keeping it flat over time.
Berea's students are super well rounded. There use to be something about paying tuition in Livestock. It's a great option for homeschool graduates to get a college education without loosing passion and zest.
Kentucky is loaded with history, and soon I'll be moving there. I love all the lakes ponds and creeks. Best jug fishing for the greatest tasting catfish nuggets ever. Love dolcimer music, and yours with the history & hummingbirds is pretty special.
Enjoyed this one, I spent the holidays in West Virginia with my parents. Living in Wisconsin I get green but very few trees, lots of pasture. The best saying is "Bless your heart".
When we first moved to Dallas pre-GPS, I got lost because my directions were, down this road, as soon as you cross the river take the hwy going north, ya can't miss it. Well we drove for miles and miles and never did see a river... We didn't know that in the summer the Trinity River was narrower than a lot of the creeks we'd lived by in Pennsylvania.
Definitely neeeeeed more songs 🎵 played and sang by the family. Would be a lovely tribute to end each episode with a family song and one day string them all together for a special family reunion rembrance. 💘 We cried thankful tears as you sang .... to God be the Glory for your gift from Him. May it be used for His glory 🙏
We are right down the road from Berea KY. It is a beautiful place with great shops and a beautiful campus. You should come back in spring when it's all green and lush, talk about a pretty place! We hope you had fun here and hope you all come back! We watch your channel every Friday and love it!
Dad looks real GOOD! Ooooh I feel real bad about the aquaponics system. I like that the RUclips community has been helpful with inputs. Thank you for the Kentucky visit and tour.... I feel like I joined you on vacation (oh yea, I am part of the Family). Ha ha, nothing like showing up at someones house..... lol lol ("Excuse me..... Can we see your lake?"). I was really interested in the makings of the dulcimer. Happy you bought one. Windowsill looks great.
It was nice to see you enjoying my home state. I lived in Kentucky most of my life. It is a beautiful state. I hope you all where treated with kindness there. Glad to see you out and about Gary.
This weekly peek did not disappoint (none have)! The interview with the dulcimer maker was quite informative and the search for more history of the wood, I wouldn't have thought of that during a trip makes this even more enjoyable. Well can't wait to hear some dulcimer music in the background.
God Bless you all. I am so pleased to see the unity of your Family. You should be so proud of the many accomplishments and hard work you have competed throughout the years. Cant wait to see the baby when she arrives. Many Blessings.
Kitchen is just beautiful, an amazing job👍🏻. The dulcimer is a great find, the maker is wonderful and very proud of his work. I didn’t realize Shea was Shea until about halfway through the video, thought she was a relative you were visiting , new hair do threw me off. I appreciate all the work y’all do to make these videos, love watching, look forward every week to seeing what you’ve dreamed up to do/make next. Wishing you all the best of life for 2020. 🙋🏼🥰
Love your new dulcimer made with wood with a long history. That's really neat. Also that you got pictures of the old jail. It's a shame no one had pictures of the interior. You sounded great singing. Amazing Grace. America's Got Talent, here comes Brie.
I so enjoy learning from you all. Shelley your laugh is so light it's a delight to hear. Yup the kitchen shelf finished the kitchen beautiful. : ) peace
Glad to see you all are feeling better to post your vacation highlights, the amazingly beautiful kitchen (so different), new and improved solar 👍, and Bree with your new toy (it's so beautifully crafted). Great family experience. Have a fantastic weekend and we'll see you Monday well hear you anyway. Lol😂
I hope you all are doing good. I love your videos !!! I'm working on liking every one of them. I can't wait to hear how Bryson's thermal water heater is doing next week !!
Yall coming out here and being amazed by us having flowing creeks, would be the same with me coming to your area. Part of God's great paint brush. No 2 places are the same but we are all connected somehow. So since there was no news or announcements made, I take it the newest member has not graced us yet with herself. I hate to hear about the aquaponics fish, but now they are giving back to the plants still. Remember Bryson one step back will lead you 5 steps ahead. I would take a build a few different types of the waterheaters and see which type works the best for you.
I honestly just enjoy watching these videos to see Y'alls family dynamics. Even as you all grow and mature and start lives of your own, seeing that togetherness and love is truly heart warming.
Love everything you did on the window, Gary. It looks great. Thanks family for taking me along on your Kentucky trip. That was so fun! Take care and God Bless.
Berea, Kentucky is beautiful countryside. My mother and father in law were from McKee and Beattyville, Kentucky. They were each one of ten children. I love Kentucky and we visit quite often. We still have lots of family there.
Bree has such a lovely voice. Thank you all for these weekly videos you make. My family and I are going through some really hard times and this helped me feel better.
What an amazing family. I wish my family was like you guys, united. Keep it up till death! Btw, nice countertops and good job with the windowsill dad. It was also a great adventure seeing you all getting lost trying to find the lake. Thanks for taking us to Kentucky with you on your journey, it was enjoyable. Bryson, all the best with the solar heater, black paint will surely heat things up.
Yes the tiles will act as a heat battery. Yet the pipe that is coming off the solar collector isnt insulated and is losing heat before it can warm the tank.
Nice! The window sills look great! The solar heater looks way better now too. That kind of music is so great. It sometimes brings tears to my eyes. I hope that you keep playing your new dulcimer.😊❤👍
One of my best friends was an alumna of Bureya. I think she majored in education, and had a wonderful career influencing young minds all over eastern NY. Definitely one of the most innovative small schools in the country.
I can’t believe you guys went to Berea. I used to live in the next town over. It’s funny seeing your reactions to the type of landscape I’ve always lived in. Arizona is like Mars to me. Lol
That's so neat that y'all went to berea Kentucky we too have loved ones that live there I was intently watching in the background hoping to see someone I knew in the background of the video lol
What a fun video. Your place is just beautiful. Everyone is so talented and fun loving. Gary your work is exquisite. All of you are amazing. God bless you always.
Thanks so much for another awesome video. Looks like you all had a great time visiting Kentucky. It was especially nice to see Shea. I’ve missed seeing her in these videos. The kitchen looks amazing! I look forward to seeing next weeks video. I plan on sending you a package with some of my plumb chutney very soon. Thank you again for your wonderful videos. Have a wonderful week!
Kentucky is probably the best place on earth, but I’m biased! There are creeks, ponds, lakes, and rivers everywhere you look. We never worry about them drying up, but they do flood quite often. Really glad y’all enjoyed visiting my state.
This is such a great video! The family exploring KY and talking to locals and learning history is so awesome. Keep learning and traveling the US and sharing with us.
I love your family, I literally wait for you guys to upload videos... in the moments while watching your videos I feel I become a part of it .. it fills up my lonely life 😊
Missed seeing Garen and Ellie this week.. Cool visit to Kentucky, Hope you enjoy that dulcimer!! I have it's big brother, the hammered dulcimer I'm still trying to learn. Cool kitchen window trim, makes it look finished and ties together well. And lastly, nice Purple hair Shaie... Very cool!! Again thanks for sharing!!!
Berea! Ya'll were in our hometown! We live just 6 miles North! Sorry we missed you! Wish I woulda known, then ya'll could have come out and seen our little straw bale house! Congratulations on your new mountain dulcimer! I hope you do continue to play her. We have a saying during the building of our house, "Trim will fix it!" Ha! And it does. Right up until you have to figure out how to trim it out!
I am so excited, my little homestead video just posted yay, as always thanks for sharing and god bless love ya all nancy, just finished the video and you guys just put a smile on my face with every video, thank you all so much...
The first time I saw or even heard of a dulcimer was on the Waltons, John boy had one. Then my ex husbands mom had one ( whom I never met she passed away from cancer at age 47) which she played. This is a beautiful instrument and sounds beautiful too.
Thank you for taking us on your trip! The kitchen is so beautiful. Had to get the SS camper mug with the beautiful dulcimer. Can't wait until it arrives!
I was born and raised in Arizona. After 52 years, we moved to Vancouver, Washington. Even after three years, I still get excited when I see the creeks and rivers full of water! Who knew?

I just love that the pugs are like "meh" while Bullet is losing his MIIIIIIIND about this frisbee being saved!!

I live in Lex and when I mow my yard, if the wind isn't blowing, I can smell the wild onions!

So good to see Gary out doing the things he loves. We’ve kept him in our prayer group. 👍🏻
For the aquaponics have you considered a “compost” heater. The heat generated by an active compost pile can be used to keep water from freezing.
Great idea!
Sing more... Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Love it
That was beautiful! Loved the singing and playing on the dulcimer.
Glad you got to meet my family! I'm related to 2/3 of the state of Kentucky! 🙄

Your guy's road trip seemed like so much fun. Especially getting lost going to the lake.

Love dolcimer music, and yours with the history & hummingbirds is pretty special.
Suggestion: foam sleeves on the tubes to/from solar heater to lessen the heat loss. Another life's lessons to learn from. Good Luck!
we use pool noodels around our pipes. find them in the dump every fall.
I grew up in KY! I get homesick watching this video. That dulcimer is so awesome!
Enjoyed this one, I spent the holidays in West Virginia with my parents. Living in Wisconsin I get green but very few trees, lots of pasture. The best saying is "Bless your heart".
Also the best insult...lol
Awesome memory making for the family😊❤️👍🏻❤️

so glad my comment on the solar water heater was taken as a helpful hint rather than criticism and great job adding the tiles as a bit of mass :)
My native Kentuckian husband wants you to know that only one other state than Kentucky has more fresh water running through it.. That is Alaska.
Burea, Kentucky is a special place as you pointed out. Glad you had a good time.

That part of Kentucky is really beautiful and calm. Love it! Also I’d never heard of that instrument before. Would be neat to learn it 😊
That window sill is beautiful Gary and you look so healthy!
It was nice to see you enjoying my home state. I lived in Kentucky most of my life. It is a beautiful state. I hope you all where treated with kindness there. Glad to see you out and about Gary.
Y'all are the high light of my Friday Night. Glad y'all are home and safe. Glad you enjoyed your trip. Have a blessed weekend. Love from Texas.
Love the dulcimer. So good to see y’all this evening! Hope y’all have a good weekend!
I grew up watching my grandma play the dulcimer and it was a joy watching Bree buy her own. Best wishes for the babies arrival! 💖
I love watching y’all have wonderful creativity and reminds me of how I would watch my grandpa make things in his workshop so awesome 👏 love u guys

You should have done a bit of stain and the varnish on the overhang to protect the bottom of the board from splash up
Love your new dulcimer made with wood with a long history. That's really neat. Also that you got pictures of the old jail. It's a shame no one had pictures of the interior. You sounded great singing. Amazing Grace. America's Got Talent, here comes Brie.

Bryson, all the best with the solar heater, black paint will surely heat things up.
What a fun episode, you travel well together as a family!
Yes the tiles will act as a heat battery. Yet the pipe that is coming off the solar collector isnt insulated and is losing heat before it can warm the tank.
wow that timber has just made that window look amazing
Beautiful voice! Y'all should sing more!! Thanks for taking us on your trip ! Love the window Gary!!
So happy you all enjoyed your trip to Berea. It is such a great little town with so many great artists... ya'll come back now, ya hear!

"the baby's not born yet" OMG! what? she's on her way? that's exciting. Best wishes to Allie & Garen with the birth.
Nice! The window sills look great!
The solar heater looks way better now too.
That kind of music is so great. It sometimes brings tears to my eyes. I hope that you keep playing your new dulcimer.😊❤👍
Glade to see you guys back ..I really needed a smile this week ...my family is in pain .. Thanks for your videos and bless your family ..
Lol

Beautiful singing at the end with the new dulcimer. And, the windowsill is great.
What a great trip to Kentucky! That kitchen window is beautiful ! I love that Dulcimer!
Enjoy you guys always,,,,,Looking well Gary
Kentucky is probably the best place on earth, but I’m biased! There are creeks, ponds, lakes, and rivers everywhere you look. We never worry about them drying up, but they do flood quite often. Really glad y’all enjoyed visiting my state.
Over the past years, that college has made wonderful wooden games. My family has many we have picked up. They are beautiful.
That is crazy you all went to Berea, Ky. My family (I believe it was my great great grandfather) donated the land for them to build that college. :)
Thats so cool! Im up in Boone county...
I so would have loved that trip! That Dulcimer is amazing Brea! and I agree I wouldn't let him hear the end of it either!!!
My only regret is that I can like this video only once!
You might consider using some insulation on the pipes going to and from your heater to help retain heat.
Great video. It’s always nice to see visitors enjoying our awesome state of Kentucky.
