@iHandleEasily if it's cursed at the same rarity it'll probably take the cursed one if they're the same weapon. If they're different weapon there might be some other calculation.
I find the weapon the turret chooses a little confusing....it uses highest tier of course, but then I think it may be the weapon scaling itself, which then gets converted to scaling off Engineering.
I think they actually need to change this and go off of stats, it is a pretty stupid way to do it honestly and somewhat of a contradiction to what the text says.
@@petecabrina It's not stupid if it's easier to code, AFAIK brotato is made by a single developer. Because think with me, with all the weapons having different mechanics, how do you define "strongest" besides rarity? Cause you might have a weapon that has better scaling but it's super bad cause it has low attack speed or something, the calculations required to define that are too complex for a simple game like brotato, so it gets simplified if you change the calculation to use rarity and then you go off of scaling in the same tier.
Some tips for the builder: Rarity is (I think) the highest priority for what weapon the turret chooses. Shredder is a pretty difficult weapon to use on the builder because of it's poor single target damage. If you want an easy builder win, choose the revolver, focus on early harvesting for about 5 or 6 waves while picking up all the materials and then around wave 6 or 7 leave basically all the mats on the ground for the turret. Once the turret has maxed out the projectiles (you can easily achieve this by stage 12) you can start picking up mats again if you want. Also, since the turret chooses the weapon based on rarity, you can easily get away with 5 level one revolvers and a single level 6, this frees up a ton of materials to use to buy engineering, defense, piercing, etc.
Fill in your extra weapons slots with support weapons, preferably sickles, too. You get lots of extra money and the sickles scale off harvesting so you can do decent damage yourself, instead of relying so much off your primary
Im pretty sure it doesnt think that the shredder is better because of pierces. Im pretty sure it thinks that shredder is better because its Rank 4, and your rocket launcher is Rank 3.
The Turret states though that it chooses the strongest weapon depending on its base stats, I would be really surprised if that somehow includes the tier of the weapon
@@DexTagit always chooses based on rarity before anything else. It's probably because it's easier to code that way and then do some kind of tier list of weapon strength to choose when they're same rarity. The dev might've also thought that if you have a weapon at higher rarity you want it to be used by the turret.
@@DexTag no, it states that it _uses the base stats_ of your best weapon. exactly what "best weapon" _means_ is not elaborated on in the slightest, and it's certainly not derived from the base stats
3 Baby Gecko was how I did it, so I got money to buy stuf but the Turret ate like 200-1000 material every round in endless. At some point you stop picking up material with the Gecko's since yhe amount on the floor reaches max and the new ones that drop start to amass and are not affected by the auto collecting of the Gecko.
In my personal experience the easier way i found to make the builder work was to just focus on get the turret maxed as fast as possible, so basically ignoring all material. Once its maxed it easily carry you by itself, it hard to get there but i usually have it maxed around wave 10.
Piercing explosions is what makes explosive weapon good against high health enemies if a big target is surrounded by other enemies when a bullet hit an enemy it explodes and damage the big target than it pierces and hit it again essentially doubling or tripling the damage based on the enemies and the number of pierces and pierce damage
Playing the builder is quite easy when you play around his strengths and avoid the weaknesses. Take a weapon with either good base stats for yourself and one with good scaling and bring it to lvl 4 asap while keeping the others low. Don't waste resources on your damage and let the turret scale after you build up some harvesting. Having a 150as slingshot lvl4 with like 4 projectiles and 20 bonus damage at wave 10 or so is completely broken
imho, the key to this class is timing. There is a correct wave to start feeding the turret so he is ready to own. One's own weapons fall off fast due to the 75% reduction
Harpoon worked excellent for me its probably because it got 100% ranged and melee that translate to engineering so its great starting weapon and it have great attack speed.
Builder is easy if you follow this formula. Exploding planks + any good shooting weapon(shredder is fine). You fight with engineering and you have turret with engineering. You do not invest a penny in range damage. Only upgrade the weapon for turret purpose
When i first did this i went for slingshot and 5 other weapons with support group so i'd get extra harvesting and focus my early game mostly on harvesting. After that money isnt an issue so u can sacrifice material really early. Then later on you can chance the slingshot for other weapons (i went with minigun). Quite an easy win with a little bit of luck
You should do a challange where you play co op mode by yourself but it kinda only works with 2 controllers i tried it and it was quite fun i used the builder hes literally a support character in that mode

Hey can somebody explain why he didn’t keep the other nuclear launcher and sold the shredder? In my mind he could have survived until wave 50 with them. Thanks 😅
It was probably the right play to sell a shredder but it wouldn’t have made that much of a difference. Most of his dps was from the turret, not his actual weapons, the slight improvement to his overall dps from swapping 1 shredder for a nuclear launcher wouldn’t have moved the needle that much
Our weapons barely did any damage in comparison, you can see this on the left with the DmgMeter. My actual goal was to get the Giants Belt and then switching to 5 SMG/Minigun/the legendary super fast firing one, just to apply the Giants Belt effect as much as possible, but sadly never found it
With builder you should only scoop materials for the first few waves. You really want it to go blue ASAP. I levelled it to red by level 12 or 13 and it absolutely demolished everything. Its kind of against everything other classes teach you, you have to get over the fact fhat you won't be the primary damage dealer...much better to focus on survivability and harvesting. And FWIW....Obliterator is VERY good with the builder turret.
there is a guide on builder on youtube with a very ez strat that's almost impossible to lose until 30+ wave, can't remember the name, but he played with a revolver, check it out
One strange way to play this dude is getting exactly one ranged weapon and after that, abuse melee weapons that scale on things that are not damage, like Level, Luck, Engineering, HP or whatever. They should carry you until your turret goes nuclear.
Funny this isn't even really how you do this build, it is a lot easier if you just feed the turret a lot more materials earlier, or get some ridiculous luck I guess 😄 Should have been feeding way more into the turret later in the run too instead of spending so much time in the shop, so the AS of it gets insane.
23:46 - Actually, doesn't the Builder Turret convert the highest % base stat of the gun and use it as Engineering? If that's the case, the obliterator on the turret would have 1000% Engineering scaling, which you had 200, so the damage would have been 2000, which sounds pretty good...
Turret takes all the base stats of the weapon and adds them, at least it did in the beta. The obliterator is just a bad weapon in general though. Attack speed is too low for it to be strong; it gets out dps-ed by most things in practice because having 2000 damage doesn’t matter when most enemies have 10% of that
@@1TieDye1 yep, that does actually makes sense. I actually never bought the Obliterator so in my mind it had AoE explosions like the Nuclear Launcher, I didn't realize it was a fancy slow cannon...
I think the Obliterator could work, but you need a ton of Bounces or something to make sure you actually hit all enemies - though even then travelling speed is a problem 40+ while explosions happen instantly, then even multiple times with Bounces/Pierce
in case you want to use it, i have found and never disabled a mod that removes the explosion smoke. since youve complained about that a few times by now
the first thing in terms of "Strong" the game considers "Tiers" First T4 is always better than T3 no matter if its a 20 damage T4 Shredder vs a 150 Damage cursed T3 Rocket Launcher. The game considers the T4 weapon as "Stronger" thats why it choose the shredder and not the Launcher. also lies! i got a cursed hook once with 42 THAT is the highest posible roll! (i also mirrored it and had 104% Chance to curse stuff in the shop XD
Harvesting. Minimize the number of ranged weapons you have and fill the rest of your slots with support weapons until you building up to 1 strong ranged weapon for the turret and 5 support weapons. Hands are good early, as the knockback protects you and the bonus harvesting they give, then transition to sickles, because their damage scales off harvesting.
It upsets me that I cant be as lucky as Dex or others when playing this game. I've been playing the DLC since it came out, and I cant get any run on Danger 5 past Wave 9 or 10.
I think we see the runs that are successfull. Selecting for the good runs, aswell as his high skill level might make it seem like his luck is higher than the norm.
i dont get lucky and even i can easily beat dlc danger 5. maybe i dont hit wave 40, but not to be rude, but if you consistently cant get past wave 8 or 9 that is an issue of skill not luck.
If you can’t get past wave 9 or 10 on D5 it isn’t a luck issue, it’s a skill issue. Keep practicing. Dex makes this game look pretty easy but in reality it is pretty tough.
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, I always make sure the thumbnail/titles actually represent what happens in the video, but doesn't spoil the actual path and is "general" enough that it's also understood by someone not deep into it. Level 1721 references the level of the turret that is obtained every 5 Material, which ended on 1721, so 1721x5 Material was sacrificed Edit: The last level is seen at 37:00 with 2121 Range, minus 800 base is 1321, the last 400 were gained by giving it (almost all) material
@@DexTagI wouldn't worry too much about it. Yes, it looks like a stereotypical "clickbait" sometimes, but you don't overexaggerate - for example, your runs that you stop at 20 don't have key words like insane, broken etc unless it's actually true. I appreciate the honest and original content, and I love the fact that you actually put work into it, rather than just churning out rehashes for the sake of views.
@@DexTag To explain. It's just trying to be more attention catching to try to get a higher Click Through Rate. The thumbnails and titles show whats happening. But it doesn't spoil too much
i think youre still playing him wrong, the turret is insane and is everything you need, let it build up AS FAST as possible, with just living from harvest and getting one weapon to red. why are you even thinking about your attack damage at all? you only need engineering literally, and a red weapon. get some harvest early, and then start picking up some materials when it is maxxed out, but not all, later you can pick up as much as you want or need. the screen will always be empty.
I honestly totally disagree. I think it makes the run easier to do it that way, but early on everything is cheaper and has a bigger impact on the run, while the scaling of the turret remains identical. Like no matter if you get 2k material into the turret wave 1 or wave 40 changes nothing but how difficult the run will be. E.g. any economy item you get by rolling into it early will have a severe effect on the later runs when you do give the turret all the material. If the goal is wave 20, then yea I agree the turret should receive more material, though it can run into a similar issue close to 20 if no good items are found (or in other words, RNG). But if you go Endless, then spending all the material on it seriously cripples the run
@@DexTag its like another comment said, you do get all materials in the first 3-5 waves to get some very cheap items going and get a weapon to red, but then you immediatly stop until wave 12 or so, where the turret is at max power, and then you can go from there. the screen will always be empty and you can collect as much as you think you need or want. usually and the end of a shop from wave 5-20 I just lock want I want to buy and get exactly enough materials to buy them, and give the rest to the turret.
You’re playing the builder wrong you spend too much time collecting materials for yourself instead of increasing your main damage dealer which is deterrent not the weapon weapons or the stats on yourself
I don't think it's as simple as that, it takes a long time to get it to a powerful level. Like the level 300 for its last bonus projectile requires 1500 sacrificed material, and I think it's easy to get below a requirement needed to survive and the run is just lost, unless some major early buffs are gained
@@DexTag but getting the second projectile early, aswell as its superior scaling due to engineering means that you can easily cruise through the earlier waves, and not have to spend so much money on your own damage.

I've tried builder with obliterator and do a wave 62 run with it (it was on the beta but not the dlc one) so cursed obliterator must be insane
How
Did a run with the harpoon gun it was insane fun and turned horrible very fast
Nice
Dex, why do you casually increase your doge past the limit? You had 138 dodge while the max chance to dodge for Builder is 60%.
Another question - why didn't you replace yours shredders? They are terrible.
With giants belt I only got to wave 35 or so using a nuke and a few bounces. But I was unluckier with getting armor and HP so I got one shot.
there is a guide on builder on youtube with a very ez strat that's almost impossible to lose until 30+ wave, can't remember the name, but he played with a revolver, check it out
If you would have left more material on ground your turent would have been so fast to kill everything almost instantly.
High fire rate is very important on this character
16:39 @Dex du brauchst gar nicht Pile of Books für Krit, weil das turret auch die Krit von der besten Waffe kopiert
they really need to add banishes
There should be a mod that just removes the poofs from the explosions
Considering you had a bit of monke brain for the first 20 waves you got very far
Prefers rarity. Confirm. Did three runs with that thing today. ;)
The random German swearing reminds me of Sebastian vettel
Revolver builder is the best
23:46 - Actually, doesn't the Builder Turret convert the highest % base stat of the gun and use it as Engineering? If that's the case, the obliterator on the turret would have 1000% Engineering scaling, which you had 200, so the damage would have been 2000, which sounds pretty good...
he wanted the attack speed and aoe from the launchers, otherwise I would agree.
I think the Obliterator could work, but you need a ton of Bounces or something to make sure you actually hit all enemies - though even then travelling speed is a problem 40+ while explosions happen instantly, then even multiple times with Bounces/Pierce
in case you want to use it, i have found and never disabled a mod that removes the explosion smoke. since youve complained about that a few times by now
mod name plsss
@@Ethan54006 its just called "no explosion smoke"
"it doesnt get any damage" besides the bonus projectiles
You cannot get Improved Tools on the builder, because all structures and items that affect structures are unavailable for him
the first thing in terms of "Strong" the game considers "Tiers" First T4 is always better than T3 no matter if its a 20 damage T4 Shredder vs a 150 Damage cursed T3 Rocket Launcher. The game considers the T4 weapon as "Stronger" thats why it choose the shredder and not the Launcher.
also lies! i got a cursed hook once with 42 THAT is the highest posible roll! (i also mirrored it and had 104% Chance to curse stuff in the shop XD
Immer geil wenn das deutsch rauskommt😂
Throw the drill on it... see what happens.
It's ranged weapons only. So nothing. They might be good as a backup weapon though if you can find them.
How am I supposed to scale with a character completely focused on scaling a single overpowered turret?
Hmm,that is a tough one.

I just tried
Pope poop
These thumbnails and titles are getting more clickbaity 😆
The upgrade on level eight will blow your mind...
I'm not 100% sure what you mean, I always make sure the thumbnail/titles actually represent what happens in the video, but doesn't spoil the actual path and is "general" enough that it's also understood by someone not deep into it. Level 1721 references the level of the turret that is obtained every 5 Material, which ended on 1721, so 1721x5 Material was sacrificed
Edit: The last level is seen at 37:00 with 2121 Range, minus 800 base is 1321, the last 400 were gained by giving it (almost all) material
I feel like it's only clickbait if there's a bait and switch involved, and I don't really think that applies here.
@@leSmokySmoke Ill give that a shot and see how I feel about it
You’re playing the builder wrong you spend too much time collecting materials for yourself instead of increasing your main damage dealer which is deterrent not the weapon weapons or the stats on yourself
I mean, he won the run, if may not have been optimal to collect so much but saying he is playing “wrong” is clearly incorrect.
When I play the builder with no mods, I’ve got a max tier turret by wave nine. And to say he won when his stated goal was to get to wave 51 would be incorrect max damage in efficiency on this character comes from the turret getting it maxed and buffed as early as possible is the best way to play and the best way to advance
