For those interested, I've done some digging through the code to find out some of the details about curse. It seems there is a 40% base stat modifier for cursed items. The bonus values you get from curse start increasing by 2% every wave after 20. Technically speaking it has the bonus set to 20 waves even when you're below 20 waves, and it starts increasing when you reach wave 20. That means it should give you a 40% bonus to item stats until wave 20, after which it starts increasing by another 2% per wave There's also a random number aspect that can be negative or positive that gets added to the wave increase bonus, set to 30%. All together, in a normal run, a cursed item will give you between 50% to 110% curse bonus. The exact effect does always round up for increasing positive stats, and round down for decreasing negative stats. For positive stats, it just adds the percentage bonus to the stat; calculated_stat = base_stat * (1 + curse_bonus) For negative stats, to reduce the negative effect; calculated_stat = base_stat / (1 + curse_bonus) Neutral effects (such as enemy count) don't get affected at all. The curse stat value (as in the main stat, not the bonus to item stats) you get from a cursed item is 4% of its material value, rounded up. The maximum chance that an item will randomly be cursed by having a high curse stat, is 12%. Cursed enemies by default get 200% bonus hp, so 3x hp in total. They also deal 50% bonus damage (1.5x) And they also move 75% faster (1.75x) For every curse, cursed enemies get an additional 3% bonus hp, the other stats don't scale with curse. Hope this was useful to someone out there :)
Hey dex, as far as i know you can do the Same with the bullets as with explosions and turning down their visibility. That should Help the next time you have created a bullet hell like that. Btw thx for the vids :)

So, two things I have noticed, that are important for this. 1: There are Items that give curse. that doesn't mean they are already cursed though, and can still GET cursed, giving even more curse, but also increasing their effect. 2: Although rare, its possible for Cursed items to have more than twice their power. (for Items, not weapons) and I don't think there is individual limits for each seperate item. The idea is this: Take Sailor, and replay until you get the earliest possible fishhook. At the same time, and after, if you find any of the important limited/unique items, LOCK THEM until they get cursed, and only buy them then. However, the MOST IMPORTANT bit is, find the Spyglasses! You can get two, for 25% reroll cost reduction each, for a total of 50%. And what do you get if you double that with Curse? Free rerolls! the only thing standing between you and getting all the important items cursed versions is enough patiance to reroll until you get the naturally cursed versions. Alternatively, reroll until you get ANOTHER fishook, but keep it locked until it gets cursed. Do it for all three remaining Fishooks for potential 100% chance of cursing items when locking them.
Yeah cursed Spyglasses totally break the game, had one cursed with 53% luckily I also had a mirror active, which in turn gets you increased negative reroll costs, so free exponential money.

Agreed on bosses. They are so spammy. In general the dlc feels much more bullet hell like, especially the double final bosses Cursed book is also crazy on this character, if you can curse it. Had a version with +4 eng for every 1 elemental, and you saw how good nail is.
After loosing the two tardigrades on the wave 50, you dodged so much more than you even noticed about. I saw Lady Luck just stop snipping off little pieces off your life line and just threw the whole spool of the cliff strapped on dynamite.
Yeah, the amount of dodges before he got hit the first time after losing the tardigrades was immense. 11 dodges in a row at 54% dodge chance gives a total chance of 0.14%. Which means it should happen about every 879 dodges as long as you stay at a 54% chance. More often than expected, but still. A huge amount of luck involved here.
I love how you are showing 'alternate timelines' where you tried different weapons that didn't work. I presume you are doing some sort of save file hack to do it, which normally I'd turn up my nose at, but because your purpose is simply to show your viewers what would have happened, and not to mislead people into thinking that you are a god (though you are legitimately amazing at this game) I think it is a good thing and not a bad thing.

Just beat Builder abyss d5 first try with Slingshots + lutes today. Honestly the Lutes are AMAZING. After I got few of them I stopped taking damage since the big guys were just charmed all the time. Amazing combo!
Honestly a strategy i tried with him that actually worked was to just focus on the explosive planks as starter weapon and only 1 strong ranged weapon. The charakter and the turret have great engineering scaling so my planks were doing work and lategame you get enough material to scale the turret later on.
I do really like the cursed mechanic but, I feel like it’s not quite done, they should definitely keep working on this and then it could become an insanely good and fun mechanic.
Really liking all the brotato, north god game (forget what it's called and vampire survivors atm - just wondering if you'll return to deep rock galactic survivor anytime? enjoyed that game a lot also :)

Can hooks get cursed? If so can you get one hook and leave the rest to get cursed? Can you get them to like 80% chance of getting the locked items cursed?
@@Evershifting That's so powerful. 80% seems achievable (15% for the normal hook and then you need an average of like 23% per hook over the other 3 hooks) if you wait for your additional hooks to turn cursed Imagine endless baby with cursed hooks and shurikens, if you could pull it off that would be one hell of a run
It's a gambit, you lock your shop and it's still just a chance to curse. I had runs with a 45% Curse chance and out of 3 locked items, nothing got cursed over 3 waves, then I just bought them. The main issue being that inflation doesn't wait for them to get cursed. And while I'd argue most weapons and uniques are generally so good you want them cursed, you also delay any items or weapons you could've found in that time period. So I don't think it's as simple as just locking, especially if you don't have all hooks/not a single cursed one

@39:00 Why would that be a "bug"? All the turret copied weapons replaced their scaling with Engineering. Why wouldn't their bonus projectiles do the same? Might even be the Flamethrower Burn converts to Engineering like the blue fire turret's burn. Seems very intended to me, or else you wouldn't scale the turret damage up, or items like Sniper Rifle would be worthless by having a bonus effect that doesn't work. @46:35 THAT however is definitely a bug. lol
I think on 39 it was missed what I meant. Focus on the Sniper Gun only. When I hover first over it, it shows a range scaling on it's own bullets. When I then hover over it the second time, it changed to Engineering. That's the bug

The curse mechanic just made this game go from a 9.5 / 10 to 19.5 / 10 for me in terms of replayability.

yeap, they can. I had hooks with 21-27%. Also there's character which starts with cursed hook =]

52:30 you dodged 12 times in a row based on the number of times "dodged" came up. With 50% dodge, that is a .000244% chance of occurring.
At round 50 you dodged 11 times in a row at least and with 54% chance for each that is 10638 on 1 😯
