    Great routine!
    For my reference:
    1. Wrist rock (index finger forward)
    2. Finger push-ups
    3. Fist to flat back wrist pancake
    4. Hands/fingers reverse (to me), bend elbows towards knee
    5. Wrist fist rock forward to thumb, back to heavy loaded back fist
    6. Back wrist pancake twist 270 away back to out

I'm overweight, unhealthy, and new to fitness.
I tried this exercise for the first time just now.
The one where you where rolling one the top of the fist. That felt like it was going to rip my thumb off.
The rotation of the wrists was more difficult for me than I imagined.
I realized recently that my wrists and ankles didnt have as much mobility as I thought they did.
Im grateful to have stumbled across this channel.

I wanted to say thanks for this video... This actually released the tension and pain in my inner elbow which i had got from doing chin ups . Now i do these as warm up routine every workout... Works wonders.
So anyone who has elbow pain due to overuse .. may have it because of less wrist flexibility , forearm muscle weakness and weak rotator cuff..so strengthening them is necessary to take load off of elbow joint.

Hi Josh! I was waiting for this topic from your side, cause I play drums, lot of movement and vibrations transfers through wrists during drumming, so drummers need healthy wrists. Your approach is fantastic, so simple, yet mostly beneficial. I can already feel the effect of this routine, not like anything else I've seen online, it addresses the right muscles and hamstrings. Thanks so much man, keep it going!

I'm super, super stiff on the wrist rocks and then very stretchy on the flexions, so much so it doesn't even feel like a stretch! I believe that wrist training is often overlooked underencouraged. This year's goal for me is to gain upper body strength, to solve my shoulder pain and eventually do handstands on the wall. And for this type of calistenic training, strong wrists and fingers are a key factor. Even though I try not to overlook training them, I still sometime get ackes even when I don't push them too far. They are weak and I want to shift this into my training focus. I will be doing this training, thank you for it!

  • @tyelrs837
    @tyelrs837 9 месяцев назад

This is great. Started doing some basic calisthenics and my right wrist is very tight. I play the drums and when you play your dominant hand plays at least twice as much so it works more. I have always get a terrible cramp in my hand for the last 20 years if I'm not constantly focusing on technique (over-gripping). We have a really freaky stretch in drum core where you hold the sticks in both hand palm up and wrap one hand in at time into double flexion while still holding the sticks. It's the best. Thing is I never realized until now that it's only one part of wrist flexibility. While you said it was hard for you at first to do the wrist flexion stretch, mine is very good because this is literally the only stretch I've ever done with consistency in my life. I found that my right hand can barely lift up for a finger pushup while my left hand can do 90 degrees. This is most likely the issue. Most musicians only learn like 1 or 2 stretches, but we probably need a good 5-6 wrist and finger stretches for warmup. I never though about stretching my individual fingers until I started playing bass a month ago. Learning guitar is just pain man. I then found 4 types of finger stretches which helped with drumming too. Only issue is I now need to spend stretch fingers wrists, arms and legs before playing??? Getting old sucks.

Rating my wrists strength and mobility from 1 to Josh my right wrist is around 1 and my left around -5. Im not kidding
Because my left wrist is so painful i always try to do some 7:37 one handed wrist flexion stretch, rocking forward (to make it less painful) until its comfortable (almost all the way) and put on some pressure then rock backwards until i almost feel the pain.
    Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the follow along man I like these! If you're like me and you have gamer tendons , these are a sore reminder of how much we need to work on hand , wrist, and forearm mobility so we can train and be healthy without injury. I add some rotations and shakes at the end. I also hold my arms straight out in front of me, one goes over the top of the other (palm to palm) then you pull the other hand into wrist flexion and slowly rotate that hand laterally - feels amazing, go slow and painfree!
