I think the jam was the mag's fault to be honest. Usually when an AK does malfunction it's a magazine issue.
Yep, always knock your mag against something to prevent feed issue... basic things yet so effective...
It was the drum for sure. Tapping it wouldn't have solved the problem either. It's not exactly like a box mag.
Actually sometimes it does help sometimes not, what comes to box or drum. Also quality of ammo and mag makes big difference.

It's most likely the drum's fault here. As they are much more likely to have feed issues or the like, and why they aren't used more often. The AK as a lot of people already said is rather reliable, and often it's the mag or ammo's fault first before itself. Possibly a cheap drum mag, or just a drum mag being a drum mag, who knows exactly what caused what without carefully looking at what exactly happened.

There's a reason why we stopped seeing drum mags on the battlefield. This is a textbook example of why.
if that happens in combat just yell "time out!" and they'll stop shooting you, then say "time in" when you're ready again.

@@Dylan-vj9yl I mean in military service. You see drums in the commercial market for a wide variety of small arms, but the only military I can recall that issues drum magazines in mass is North Korea for their AKs and some of the light machine guns. Outside of them, nah.
Also, the MG3 is belt-fed. The belt is just contained in a drum. But the holder itself doesn't feed ammunition through the system. Saying the MG3 is drum-fed is like saying the RPD was drum-fed. Neither weren't/aren't.

7.62x39 doesn't actually recoil as hard as most people think. It's a larger caliber that flies at a much slower velocity, so the impulse is more of a long push than an AR's rolling pop. This does depend on the Kalash's build quality, as many Chinese copies have gritty machine work which add to the recoil.

These KCI drums always jam. The only AK drum mags that work properly are those with the lever-operated loading system. There used to be plenty of Romanian variants of such drums on the US market, but novadays they are all gone..

people talking about the drum mag helping recoil. lol do you not see the compensator on the end of the barrel? That's the reason why there's not that much recoil, the compensator pushes the gasses up which pushes the gun down
That's a slant muzzle brake, standard on any ak. Not a compensator. The drum helps more than a slant muzzle brake I promise.

Not once did I put my finger in the chamber. The bullet went nose down on the feed ramp and I was simply trying to reset it in the mag without removing it but since it was still basically full I could not.
