- This gun restoration video, I restore an ak M. I bought this gun in an arsenal in the czech republic, I already intended to restore the gun, the restoration process was not easy, because akm has pins inserted at 12 tons, this means that a large hydraulic press is needed for the restoration of this gun. However, I managed to complete the restoration and make this Soviet beauty work perfectly.
This gun is built in Izhmash in 1971, normally he required maintenece, but this need really a restoration because he stay a lot of time in humid place. and was used for take every pieces. but at the end the restoration was end with a great result.

I like the folding stock. This exact version was my service rifle for 3 years in the east german air force during the 80s. Excellent weapon

I have to admit I'm not a fan of the plastic furniture and the wire stock, but that's a damn good restauration job! Very satisfying to watch.

Personally I prefer the polymer stock AKs such as the AK-74M and the AK-104/5
I agree with the stock being a poor choice but I quite like the 100 series furniture.

It’s really not a relic, it’s an AKM which is still standard issue for Russian infantry
EDIT: I mixed its application up with the AK-74, but the AKM is still the second most produced gun in the world

This Ak 47 was manufactured in the Russian city of Tula in 1971...there is a triangle with an arrow inside...) But instead of testing with aluminum oxide, it is better to do cleaning with aquablasting ...) And so it is very well done...the like is definitely from one of the subscribers ...)
Это не АК 47 (на самом деле автомат, выпускавшийся серийно, назывался просто АК), а его "наследник" - АКМ того же калибра (7,62 х 39 мм) образца 1959 года, о чём свидетельствует, как минимум, характерной формы дульный компенсатор с косым срезом (ранние АКМ с прямым срезом дульного оконечника/муфты в этом контексте не отличались от АК), а также отсутствие прямоугольного паза на правом боку ствольной коробки, которая у АКМ стала штампованной в отличие от фрезерованной у АК.

As a Master Gunsmith that has built AK's , FAL's , etc I was Impressed at the condition after the rust removal of the metal receiver and parts. Great Job Restoring that ! I personally prefer wood stocks and handguards , or the Underfolder stocks which seem a bit sturdier, but to each his Own !
Building AK's is not exactly a "Master Gunsmiths" job but Im sure you knew that lol
@@thepensmith1 I guess you never milled an AK Receiver Casting or replaced a trunnion , barrel and rivets , or built a receiver from scratch like I have , but i'm sure you know everything....

@@thepensmith1 building an ak is something a master gunsmith can do, yes, but nothing too scoff at. the ak was meant too, and did, and still does have entire factories and cities worth of people behind building them especially in soviet times. It was made with mass production and ruggedness in mind, with the specific machines made too do nothing but make parts for it, i challenge you too produce a kalashnikov type rifle/carbine/etc, you will then realize it is no easy feat, but once done CORRECTLY with the right materials you will have a weapon that can be passed down for generations.
No way you actually found one! I remember asking you to restore an AK-47 months ago, I believe it was on your Uzi video before you re-uploaded it, and you responded to me telling me "if you ever found one you would do it" and here you are. Amazing work, keep it up!

@@Krejii05 to be fare not many people understand the difference in an AKM and an actual AK47 and the colloquial term for the kalashnikov family is just the AK, whether its a 47, 74, krinkov, or just modernized

He went above and beyond in treating the small parts and repainting it. A rifle with a reputation of being " just good enough" The chemical rust treatment, removing the rotten wood & adding a new stock could've been enough.

It’s Romanian not Russian. The Russians used a two digit date code and the Romanians used a full 4 digit year. Also, the Romanian Arsenal mark while similar has the arrow touching the base of the triangle while the Izhevsk Arsenal mark has the arrow separate from the triangle and features fletching on the base of the arrow.
@@youbite1 ya I figured it was pm63 from the cuigar factory, but it's got the izhmash symbol on it. If you turn on subtitles he says it.

Easily mistakable though especially cause if it’s condition. The Romanian marking is the top half of an arrow inside a triangle while Izhmash is a full arrow in a triangle

Tha fact that this Ak was made exactly 50 yrs ago shows how genuine the AK is.
While I simultaneously wish that you uploaded more frequently, I also understand that this takes a lot of work to both restore and to edit. Great as always, I’ve watched it to sleep to every night since the release.

ну да, но там 2 ошибки!
1) Оружие не надо заряжать, ибо оно и так заряжено, поэтому и делают контрольный спуск!(заряжается при сборке)
2) Сначала спуск, потом магазин!

Its is not an AK-47. Model with name of "AK-47" is never existed in nature. This is AKM or AKS.

When you put those smaller pieces of the Ak parts in that small jar, I thought you’ll put in some type of chemicals that’ll clean it but you pull out a jar of pickles and pour in the pickle juice inside the small jar where the Ark parts are at, you really caught me off guard there not gonna lie also thank you rescuing and repairing a old gun, you got yourself a subscriber.
The liquid from pickles is acidic as all hell, my dude. It would have been just like putting the parts in vinegar - will strip of rust and grime no problem. Symbolically adds a bit of national flavour, too.

Ставлю двойку по НВП:))) Во время сборки , спусковой крючок нажимают и ставят на предохранитель без магазина. Иначе можно получить выстрел если случайно в магазине окажется патрон )))

+ Затвор был в раме, при разборке он вытакивается

I've used a lot of guns during my military service but to be honest the AK-47 (we used to call it PM 7,62 or our girlfriend) it was the best.
I remember every soldier writing his girlfriend's name on the wooden part of the gun(that was so stupid, now when l think about it).
I saw Maria, Elena, Ana, Cristina, etc...all kind of names on every gun.
I was alone in guard in the woods, at 25*C bellow 🥶, some wolfs hauling somewhere near, but carrying a loaded gun gave me a sensation of security and l was not scared it all.
Not a gun fan but this makes me remember that time, my mates...it was so hard but so nice at the same time!

That is why you should have blued it instead of paint it and put on new wood furniture instead of the plastic stuff.
Soviet AKMs were never blued. They were phosphated and then painted black
He probably couldn't get wooden furniture as plastic is more common. Also, bluing is a really toxic process and cerakote is better because it doesn't rust and it will last for about 10 years
With the pitting on the steel the bluing would have looked weird (the pitting shows up a bit more in my experience). With cerekote it fills in the pits slightly but also makes them less noticeable.
Cerekote is a better harder finish. And as far as using poly furniture. Wood warps snd doesn't dissipate heat well. The poly furniture likely had a heat shield in it.

Сначала производится спуск и постановка на предохранитель. А потом пристёгивается магазин.

Looks nice but you should check the head space and inspect the barrel before shooting it 7.62x39 is very powerful round and if something is wrong the rifle can be damaged
The rifle, but more critically, the *shooter* can get damaged. Getting Kentucky'd isn't a good plan to have for the day.

This brings back quite a few memories of my time in the South African Police ISU (Internal Stability Unit) back in the early 90`s...we used to patrol the South African/Mozambique border to catch gun runners bringing in hardware for the war in the townships between Mandela`s ANC and The IFP, we used to catch the guys digging up AK`s that they buried and returned to collect...they were always rusted to hell and back but even in that condition they still functioned after a quick clean using diesel...scary stuff, hundreds of lives were, and continue to be lost in South Africa thanks to those "Imports" by the now ruling party...

Видео странное. На первых кадрах видно, что отсутствует затворная рама, затвор и возвратка. На чем тогда держится крышка? Откуда потом появились, отсутствующие в начале узлы?

Дружище, NEVER НИКОГДА не делают контрольный спуск после присоединения магазина. Потому, что именно из-за этого будет выстрел. Контрольный спуск делается для того, чтобы убедиться, что в стволе нет патрона, а не для того, чтобы просто щёлкнуть.

Насколько помню...При сборке контрольный спуск не делают вообще. Сметали в кучу и всё. Сорок лет прошло... Номер своего АК-74 в голове...

To all those chiming in. I work on AKs, as well as restore furniture and items I find in thrift stores, it's why these videos intrigue me. IMO, it was not necessary to remove the barrel (unless it was pitted and needed replacing, which the video didn't say). As he said you need a press to remove and install but it was commendable all the same. A 10-ton press is really best to do this but the average person does not have access to one in their garage.
Also, the trigger guard was iffy as to necessity but again commendable and nice to see it done, his videos are top-notch. It's possible that it could continue to rust between the guard and receiver but unlikely with minimal care, these are AK's after all. Also, possible that the rivets were loose, and if that's the case then that would be a good reason for replacement. Thanks again for the video, your work is always great and I love watching them! Please do more like this!

@@mouthbreather280 An assault rifle is a fully automatic rifle, this AKM doesn’t seem to be fully automatic (its a semi-automatic rifle), doesn’t take away from the fact that assault rifle is an actual term.
The lack of bolt and barrel restoration makes me wonder if it is firing condition. Those barrels are usually chrome lined but idk how well it would have held up seeing the rest of the rifle... The bolt is surely ruined. When it is replaced it needs to be fitted, headspaced, to ensure it isn't dangerous to fire. Maybe that's a bit much for him. A barrel replacement would also require headspacing.

@@SpectralPearl это не реставрация,новодел. у АКМ никогда не было пластика и таких прикладов,да и затвор отсутствует,а вообще занятное видео.

Have you noticed that the gun had no bolt a carrier before ? Have you noticed it had 1 after he was done ? I am assuming there were not with the gun and i am assuming he didn’t check for headspace … bad idea to take to the range don’t you think ?

I'd posit that was taken care of off-screen. Putting an AK together is harder than it looks, especially compared to the "adult legos" of ARs.

@BushManSamuel 366 это другой калибр, это пулевой патрон в основном. Есть оружие именно в 12 калибре, называется ВЕПРЬ 12.

@@FerreusNRG very unusual for an AK to have a burnt handle on the outside while not being burned on the spots touching the barrel. Almost as if someone took a torch to the handguard intentionally to make the gun look more weathered and given how fake the Desert Eagle video is, I wouldn't put it past this video that the gun was further rusted and burnt to make it look much worse than was originally received.
