    As usual...I enjoyed the video. I appreciate an updated video on the dovetail capabilities. I was a little stunned that Mr Farris wasn’t doing it. Hope he’s still part of the group. He knows his stuff and he is fantastic with these demonstrations.

      @@AaronGeller Jeff is a natural in front of the camera. He describes the content very well. Jay did a great job with this one also. You guys have a lot of talent, in the video department, engineering department and manufacturing department. Keep up the good work.

    I’m a big fan of Woodpeckers tools but I think I’ll keep my Leigh DR 4 Pro dovetail jig which for me making all sorts of dovetails is so much nicer and easier. I know this jig can do so much more but so can the Leigh jig.

    Is it possible to use a different bit to get thinner pins? I'm not a fan of fat pins that scream machine cut.

    This multi-router machine is amazing! I wish I had one! How wide of a board can you use with this? Say I want to make a toy chest 36” wide x 20” depth x 20” height with dovetails

      Using the built-in clamps on the table, the maximum material width is 10-1/2". We're experimenting with auxiliary tables you could build to expand that. Watch our RUclips channel for further developments.

    Do you guys have recommendations on a good initial position of the stylus before we start adjustments for the pins? Should we start at the bottom and just dial upward until we get a tight fit?

    • @WoodpeckersLLC
      @WoodpeckersLLC  2 года назад +1

      I have found that the position of the stylus usually is around 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. If you start around there, you should get pretty close to your mark on your first test cut. Hope this helps.

    What is the repeat distances for the 3/4" and 1/2" dovetail spacing's?

    • @WoodpeckersLLC
      @WoodpeckersLLC  2 года назад

      Sounds like a simple question, doesn't it? Not so much.
      If you're using the 3/4" template and a 3/4" bit with 3/4" material for both sides, the repeating pattern of one tail and one pin is 1-1/2".
      If you're using the 1/2" template with 1/2" material for both sides, the repeating pattern is 15/16".
      BUT...it all changes if you have different thicknesses for the pin boards and the tail boards (which you usually do).
      The best plan of action is to mill up some extra stock the thicknesses you're planning to use, adjust the machine to get them fitting right, then check your pattern and adjust the width of your stock and the width of your outside edge half-pins to get everything balanced.

      @@WoodpeckersLLC I appreciate it. I’m thinking mostly about the 1/2” set with 1/2” material all the way around. Baldic birch pre finished plywood drawer side material for kitchen cabinets. My old omni-jig hides most of the blow outs from cutting plywood dovetails. I may try some through dovetails with my Leigh and see what they look like. If they are satisfactory, I may give your 1’2” set a try. I don’t like lifting a handheld router up and down to make dovetails. would be sacrificing single pass half blind dovetails for tails on one setup and pins on another. The multi router sure beats wagging a router around all day. Have a great holiday weekend!

      Remember as you you're considering this, if you want to start and stop on a half-pin (and you do), that's your wild card. You're working in multiples of 15/16" plus 2 times a "half" pin, That half-pin add-on is roughly 3/8" times 2 for 3/4" down to around 3/16" times 2 for 3/8". That's a pretty big window to work in.
