One of my all time favorite. I still have mine, hanging from the ceiling with fishing line. I'm ok with crazy colors as long as it looks badass and not disco fluo 90s.
As outlandish as the Tiger Force color scheme may have been, I always liked the fact that the color schemes for the various sub lines made the figures look like they were part of the same unit.
Really great review man! Tiger Force was a way for Hasbro to make quick money off of what they already had made. I still do like the line even though it was basically asking to be shot down!
In 1997 there was another variant of the Rattler. It was A-10 Thunderbolt which was what the Rattler was modeled after. I got it for Christmas of that year.
If someone wanted to army build some cobra equipment all they have to do is repaint the parts whole on the part tree and them let dry and assemble per instructions right ?
Great review. I never had the rattler or the Tiger Rat. I had to wait until the '97 Joe Thunderbolt to get the plane. I hope you do a Python Patrol Month soon.
I think if was to get any tiger force vehicle it would probably be this one just cause I love the rattler and I like the thunder head piece but I could still do without most of them. great review I like how you killed the younger you lol.
Something that wasn't mentioned is that the gun turret is only meant for figure molds from 1984 and earlier. A lot of figures from the 90s won't fit in the gun turret.
did not realize the Tiger Force color scheme was possibly based on a real life military unit! always wanted to see Tiger Force in a tiger camo paint scheme myself, instead of the "Tony the Tiger" colors!lol
(I can just see the TV ad now...) "INTRODUCING THE NEWEST FIGHTER TO TAKE ON COBRA! THE GI JOE TIGER FORCE, TIGER RAT BATTLE JET WITH PILOT, TURKEY SANDWICH!"
Tiger Force was one of my favorite things when GI Joe brought it out. Because it brought back the action figures and the vehicles I loved. This being one of my all-time favorite GI Joe vehicles. Granted the rattler is my all-time favorite.
To be fair, no aircraft can be truly invisible while flying. Sure, there are ways to make one invisible to radar and other forms of detection, but not from being visually seen against the sky. The Tiger Rat is no easier to shoot down the Rattler was in midair. The real danger for the Tiger Rat, like the rest of Tiger Force, would be being spotted on the ground between missions, where it's orange color scheme would indeed stick out like a sore thumb.
I was going to point out the labeling on the tires. The Rattler being a MARS/Cobra designed vehicle, any tires would have to come from scrapped Rattlers. I agree Larry Hama did not write the file card. Case in point: 1. There are no Air Force bases in Rhode Island, yet he was born in Providence. Newport, RI houses a Naval station where NUWC is based out of, is a little over 30 minutes from Providence. Air Force brat, I don't think so. Even if his parents had him prior to joining, an Air Operations Specialist is an enlisted rate/MOS. Larry Hama was too thorough. 2. He flew Conquests in, not the Cobra Civil War, 1988, but would have had to fly the Conquest in the attack on Cobra Island, trying to push Cobra off the rock and mud of their newly formed island before their muddy ball of rock gets officially recognized as a sovereign nation in 1986. This would have made him a Captain in the Air Force when he flew Conquests two years earlier. Makes more sense. LtCol is more of an XO rank in a squadron, possibly CO in GI Joe. LtCol would be a great rank to command the Tiger Rat squadrons. 3. I know I am a total geek, but, when I played with these toys from 5th/6th grade on, I used the same logic and reasoning. I constantly compared file cards to comic events to discern proper timelines as my (custom) Dr Venom was always tinkering and had created a time machine. Ugh. I agree with your younger self, ugly toy and lackluster pilot. Great review though!
I can't lie, that's one sexy paint application on the Tiger Rat. This sub-team had some serious swagger. Like a "yeah, I've got a striped jumpsuit and jet -- you got a problem with that?"-kind of swagger, which is especially effective with the inclusion of the mustachioed characters. No sir, Mr. Roadblock -- no problem here.
Thank God I only got the figures and the vehicles I was missing on these. I hated buying these. These things were so garish. It made you wonder why you were still collecting at this point. I only picked up the Devil fish and Stinger I believe. But this was a missiles bullseye.
Skystryker aka "Turkey sandwich" will earn his "wings" if he punches out behind enemy lines, dressed like that. He may just get shot on pure principle, or by, being mistaken by a tiger poacher. Wasn't the story line behind Tiger Force and Python Patrol, the re-purposing of each others captured equipment?
That looks different then the original rattler. I know it’s the Joe version which is weird to me. Shipwreck is awesome. Who remembers road pig a dreadnought??
Great, always loved the tiger force vehicles color scheme. uhm.. skystriker? Luckily I forgot this pilot's name like 25 years ago...... there's only one skystriker!
I like the jet but hate the fact that they called the pilot Skystriker. They could have came up with something else, surely? How about Flying Tiger? It would have been apt, and a respectful nod to the hero pilots of World War II.
This is actually sort of a good idea because planes don’t really use camouflage do usually just try and blend in sort of a little bit like the Japanese plans during World War II had a blue bottom and then a green top and then the SR 71 is painted black probably to blend in with the night sky but they relatively weren’t camouflaged
I do not own any tiger force toys however if I did, I'd be happy to banish the loudly colored figures to the vehicles. 😎 Also, to talk about the lifeline v2 for example he'd be great if he was more like how Dusty is colored or Flint. I don't dislike TF but I don't plan on getting any of them. As far as sub teams go I dig all the slaughters marauders re-releases for the vehicles but the figures bugged me....
If you think the battle damage feature is unnecessary, imagine a whole toyline dedicated to it. like what Bandai did with their Gundam toys in the early 2000s.
+Jakub Buszko I don't have the Vector. A friend had it, but I don't remember that much about it. Eventually I will get into BF2000, but I'm not ready to make that leap yet.
HoodedCobraCommander788 The thing what I wish to see in your site is " Python Patrol " squad even with fact that these are only tree vehicles , Python Asp , Python Stun , Python Conquest & six guys : " Python Viper " , Python Officer , Python " Tele Viper " , Python Crimson Guard " ," Python Cooper Head ... "
Well Tiger Rat was first aircraft what I saw in store on 88 but he was expensive for Polish environments ... It's VTOL craft so is these planes like Harrier have some accidents during vertical starts ... This is gunship so why they use acrobat pilot on him ... Am not offence for " Tiger Force " am just think they are OK for times when I collect that toys ... By the way don't panic friend commander " Tiger Forces " toys have also colours like Orange , Red ,& Green black with yellow tiger camouflage so don't cry ...
If Skystryker aka "Turkey sandwich" punches out behind enemy lines, will earn his "wings" by getting killed on pure principle. For his hideous color choice. I agree, a darker tiger stripe camo would be better suited for behind the lines. The brighter colors wouldn't be too bad for parades and ceremony.
Even though the colours are bright, unfortunately they are called tiger force for a reason to have tiger camouflage and if all were brown or military coloured it would defeat the object
IMO, the Cobra Rattler is superior in every way. The name of the vehicle is cooler, the color scheme/design is better, the code name for the pilot is better, and the look of the pilot is better. The G.I. Joe version literally has pretty much nothing going for it.
You nailed the analogy of the "sobbing-hurting" child and the "angry-hurtful" child
+Byron Kellogg NNnnnneeeerrrrddd! j/k
HoodedCobraCommander788 Lol. That was a funny skit. I take it that you know a little about the inner child?
I had the green one you could get from Toys R Us in the late 90s as well as the X30. I loved these toys as a kid and wish I still had them.
One of my all time favorite. I still have mine, hanging from the ceiling with fishing line. I'm ok with crazy colors as long as it looks badass and not disco fluo 90s.
+sirkowski I'm glad I was able to review one of your favorites :)
As outlandish as the Tiger Force color scheme may have been, I always liked the fact that the color schemes for the various sub lines made the figures look like they were part of the same unit.
Great video review. I can't wait for next week's episode. YoJoe.
Really great review man! Tiger Force was a way for Hasbro to make quick money off of what they already had made. I still do like the line even though it was basically asking to be shot down!
Man, one hell of a review. Excellent.
+Galaxy of Toys Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Even the commercials for the first run of tiger force even went as far as saying the rattlers were captured and repainted.
Sweet review, I really love both the rattler and the tiger rat. They are probably my second fav of the aircraft.
+Dillon Hollis I'm glad you liked it!
Awesome! Awesome review! Nobody beats G.I. Joe!!! Tiger Force!!!!
You do realize you're gonna have to do a Python Patrol month now. LOL
+domalwright I wouldn't rule that out!
In 1997 there was another variant of the Rattler. It was A-10 Thunderbolt which was what the Rattler was modeled after. I got it for Christmas of that year.
In the Cartoon Wild Weasel, called the black mussels Sts missiles . He used them to make a runway for the joes transport
If someone wanted to army build some cobra equipment all they have to do is repaint the parts whole on the part tree and them let dry and assemble per instructions right ?
I just recently added this to my collection and I like Tiger Force
well since the tiger rat is a captured rattler they'd have the same tires as the cobra rattler. so cobra vtol still makes sense?
I had this, the tiger rat. I wanted the Cobra Rattler more though
Great review. I never had the rattler or the Tiger Rat. I had to wait until the '97 Joe Thunderbolt to get the plane. I hope you do a Python Patrol Month soon.
great work!
awesome review
nice work man ...I dig the plane ..
+M.G.Villan Thank you!
Larry Hama was able to work the tiger rat and skystriker in the idw continuation of the Marvel Series. He did get shot down, though.
I love you videos
+Gijoe Fan567 Thank you!
I think if was to get any tiger force vehicle it would probably be this one just cause I love the rattler and I like the thunder head piece but I could still do without most of them. great review I like how you killed the younger you lol.
great stuff!
+jon ulrich Thanks!

did not realize the Tiger Force color scheme was possibly based on a real life military unit! always wanted to see Tiger Force in a tiger camo paint scheme myself, instead of the "Tony the Tiger" colors!lol
Imagine a skystriker piloted a skystriker, that will be a total chaos. LOL!
I love that 80s Rock during the Tiger Force commercial!
Any plans to do a review for the Tiger Force Snow Cat?
+joefan82 Yes, at some point. But it may have to wait for another Tiger Force Month.
To be fair, no aircraft can be truly invisible while flying. Sure, there are ways to make one invisible to radar and other forms of detection, but not from being visually seen against the sky. Did GI Joe have repairmen, welders, and/or mechanics? I'd love to put this jet on the Flagg and show someone replacing the damaged panels.
HCC788, a fine review; that said, what's with the tarantula on your shoulder in the beginning of the video?
I liked the Tiger Force premise back in the day, but even then I thought they should have went with Vietnam Era Tigerstripe for camo and uniforms.
I think the tires still saying Cobra on them is great continuity. They are stolen repainted planes, right. Why change perfectly good tires?
Travis Miller Tires ain't cheap.
I was going to point out the labeling on the tires. The Rattler being a MARS/Cobra designed vehicle, any tires would have to come from scrapped Rattlers.

What do you think about the Takara G.I. Joes compared to Hasbro?
+Rai Hari I don't have any Takara Joes, so I can't really say.
+redvitaminblue I'm not going to argue with Roadblock no matter what he's wearing!
Thank God I only got the figures and the vehicles I was missing on these. I hated buying these. These things were so garish. It made you wonder why you were still collecting at this point. I only picked up the Devil fish and Stinger I believe. But this was a missiles bullseye.

+Byron Kellogg The Dreadnoks had a poacher. Gives me an idea.
HoodedCobraCommander788 Gnagahyde doesn't look like he's too bright. I would love to see it in a short film, care to bounce some ideas around?
I did not know John Wayne was a pilot. He only needs a cowboy hat (Wild Bill for instance).
I have this one I have I think all of the tiger force just missing a few things for that
I have a pair of pants that look just like the Tiger Rats paint job.
Why is there a Canadian flag on the plane?
That looks different then the original rattler. I know it’s the Joe version which is weird to me. Shipwreck is awesome. Who remembers road pig a dreadnought??
Great, always loved the tiger force vehicles color scheme.
uhm.. skystriker? Luckily I forgot this pilot's name like 25 years ago...... there's only one skystriker!
+Rik Ice Only one Skystriker, and it is magnificent.
Rik Ice. Ace
I like the jet but hate the fact that they called the pilot Skystriker. They could have came up with something else, surely? How about Flying Tiger? It would have been apt, and a respectful nod to the hero pilots of World War II.
could u do a python patrol review.....i like all of yout reviews...
man you haven't aged
This is actually sort of a good idea because planes don’t really use camouflage do usually just try and blend in sort of a little bit like the Japanese plans during World War II had a blue bottom and then a green top and then the SR 71 is painted black probably to blend in with the night sky but they relatively weren’t camouflaged
well they was trying something new....hahahaahahahaaa
I do not own any tiger force toys however if I did, I'd be happy to banish the loudly colored figures to the vehicles. 😎 Also, to talk about the lifeline v2 for example he'd be great if he was more like how Dusty is colored or Flint. I'll call the figure Turkey Sandwich then XD
If you think the battle damage feature is unnecessary, imagine a whole toyline dedicated to it.
like what Bandai did with their Gundam toys in the early 2000s.
+nodto modley Hmm. I wasn't around for that.
Long story short, me and the other kids went crazy for it.
Power of marketing.
G.I . Joe " Vector " from G.I. Joe 2000 team got same problems with wheels like Rattler & Tiger Rat ...
+Jakub Buszko I don't have the Vector. A friend had it, but I don't remember that much about it. Eventually I will get into BF2000, but I'm not ready to make that leap yet.
HoodedCobraCommander788 Yes this Battle force 2000 Am just remembered problems with wheels on air crafts
The judgment on the way they did things. Remember. They weren't making these for 40 year olds. Children didn't care about all this stuff!
Well Tiger Rat was first aircraft what I saw in store on 88 but he was expensive for Polish environments ... It's VTOL craft so is these planes like Harrier have some accidents during vertical starts ... This is gunship so why they use acrobat pilot on him ... looks pretty dang yellow to me

I agree, a darker tiger stripe camo would be better suited for behind the lines. The brighter colors wouldn't be too bad for parades and ceremony.
I wouldn't even move those landing gears once.
This review shows that Python Patrol was good idea except they use some reused toys ... :(
how about shockwave
Interesting content, but the lack of an off camera mic, makes it hard to listen to.
They should have just painted some facial hair on Thunder, I mean Skystriker... I mean Thunderstriker.
The stickers
Looks like cobrastickers repro ... that explains the canadian flag
And the faces no the bombs ... the original does not Have stickers no the bombs
What a horrible use of the name of a wonder GI JOE JET. I like your reference of "Turkey Sadwich"
i like the tiger rat but i wish it was in a dark orange color like a real tiger
Your welcome
cool BRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Even though the colours are bright, unfortunately they are called tiger force for a reason to have tiger camouflage and if all were brown or military coloured it would defeat the object
a pilot should have a fitting code name that is strong and short like Ace or Iceman or ...whatever ;) ..Maverick heheh
IMO, the Cobra Rattler is superior in every way. The name of the vehicle is cooler, the color scheme/design is better, the code name for the pilot is better, and the look of the pilot is better. The G.I. Joe version literally has pretty much nothing going for it.
fuck yes, I loved this one as a kid
had this. i miss it
Hahaha.... dirty nails no This guy, but i love his reviews
Vintage toys are the best
I like the younger you better
+David Soriente Too bad! He's dead! I... KEELED HEEM!
The Rattler is 1000X cooler..
blowtorch
+Isaiah Smith Barbecue.
+HoodedCobraCommander788 ya both of them are my favorites
