“I’m afraid I thought more about getting into heaven than being with my Heavenly Father” I’ve been thinking about this quote all of yesterday and today.
Consider this, "we aren't earning heaven"(like getting a certain amount of service time to fill a requirement), "we are LEARNING Heaven. Heaven won't be heaven for those who aren't Heavenly." Wilcox
One of my favorites stories of Jesus Christ, is when he is dying on the cross, alongside two other men. Jesus is suffering unspeakable things, but has such love, and mercy, that he gives these words of comfort after the former thief repents: "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." -Luke 23:43-44 We are all spiritually"face blind," without Jesus Christ, but with his help, we can learn to "see," the great wisdom he has for each of us!
I cried while listening to this talk. It reminded me of my mother and how I viewed her growing up. Similarly, during my university days, I also thought of God as described. Thank you for this talk Elder Daines.
A great talk; a practical sermon…. I think God wants us to aim to get to Heaven, but not as some distant reward in and of itself, but to COME HOME TO HIM…That is what it is ALL about! The Gospel and everything that Jesus and Heavenly Father do for all of us is for ONE purpose: to come back home to Live with God….
I just want to say going through high School has been rough but that has also made me more thankful for the spiritual rest that comes with seminary and the Sabbath day that comes my way and it makes me grateful in the end for our loving heavenly father and his help in all of our lives and I can't wait for the day when we reunite in Heaven!
His analogy of facial blindness and holding to the rod not knowing where it leads is relatable and masterful. Teaching us how to see God is most important.
This is my favourite talk. Spiritual face-blindness - or struggling “to see God as a loving Father,” but seeing “a thicket of rules” - may cause Heavenly Father’s children to doubt His love. That’s was exactly what I was feeling throughout the week. I have been stretched to the point that I have begun to doubt His love for me.
I hope you can once again feel in your heart, not just know in your head, that you are LOVED by our Father in Heaven and our brother Jesus Christ. You are a soul of great worth. You are cherished. Fresh courage take, our God will never us forsake. ❤🙏
Jesus Christ is always the answer! May we not be spiritually blind! May we learn more about our Saviour, see Him as our loving brother, as our friend, our Saviour, as the one who paid for my sins, as we get to know His character, we love Him more. This has lead me trust Him and feel so grateful for Him. Thank you for this timely talk.
I love this really really daily situations in all conutries we feel........i love,,, not the rules, not the starards we LOVE JESUS CHRIST,,,WE LOVE HIM,,,we look unto him in every thought
This is an amazing talk. I don’t think many people would recognize Jesus from his appearance but only by his words. People who have actually seen the savior would compare his appearance like a the appearance of a missionary.
This talk is extraterrestrial. The analogy of living Faceblind was serious and thought-provoking. How he related personally really stood out to me as uncommon especially in the times we find ourselves.
I can really identify with the subject. It’s easy to be immature and take parents for granted and often they are gone before we ever think to make amends. God deserves our appreciation and recognition. Good talk!
Please excuse the man that said 'bummer'. I'm in the hopes he realises that alot of people go through it - Bummer (losing people, wanting us to follow Satan instead of Jesus, losing homes from natural disasters, still single after trying, whatever it may be). We all go through it. Beautiful talk 😊

Amen!!! It has rang true with me too!
All I’ve ever thought about was being with my Heavenly Father

Its a great one. What conclusions have you come to, or take aways have you gathered?
I love this... "Covenants are the shape of God's embrace."

This is one of my top 5 talks all time.

May the Holy Spirit lead us to see and feel the saving and merciful love of God. Amen!

Will this help others see and love Jesus Christ? If not, try something else. I needed to hear this.

We need to know the difference between honor and obey.
