Added one to my 29 with my tiger barbs. Great fish, gets along fine. Does his own thing, very active. Good cleaner too
Lots of personality for a little fish! I adore them
I have one in my 93 gallon African cichlid tank! He was super active on day two! The cichlids surprisingly don’t mess with him and he also ignores them! A cool addition to the tank!
Nice video. We have a YoYo Loach that is about 19 years old. Never kept anything alive this long in my life. The fish does recognize me. Especially when like coming home after vacation, the fish freaks out. Won't let any other fish (Cory's we like) live on the bottom.
I have one he is really cute ✨❤️ I love these fish they are active and a great addition to any tank.
My husband, Mr. Nonfish guy, went shopping today and came home with 3 green tiger barbs and a Yoyo loach ( and not the turtle UVB light he went in for). The barbs are beautiful, both of them, we had to flush one due to white patches around the mouth and sickly behavior. My heart skipped a beat over the yoyo. I've been wanting a yoyo for a long time. I'm doing my research now as it has been years since I've kept loaches. I have treated the tank for bacterial/fungal infections and ordered more green tigers and yoyos. Both fish seem to need company. Your video was very helpful and informative and I thank you.
we have had the same yoyo for 20 years.he prefers to be alone.every time we try to get him companionship,he is the only one left in the morning.
Ya, these fish have big personalities!
True.. can’t have two in same tank
Super agressive fish! Cute and active but mean as snakes towards each other and other fish, even big fish!
The two I have tend to sleep/rest on the sides either on the bottom of the tank or no a piece of drift wood or rock, so funny to watch
They are cool fish man I like !
Love the black skirt tetras
Thanks for this video too it's helped me adjust the tank to better suit my yoyo :D I've only had my man, Crab, for a few months. I hope to keep him around for quite some time and maybe get him some companions, if he feels social XD
I raised 7 of these ...they got very nasty toward each other ...i finally took them back to the fish store ...i couldnt stand wstching them chase one another around the tank ...it was to watch them grow ...they are hardy eaters and grow fast ... I now have the burmese border loaches they are very energetic and their dispostion is very friendly ... they get along great with the clown loaches...
I bought 7 but now I have 12. So they can breed though I hear and read everywhere that they don't. They always look very happy. And indeed when I stand at my tank there is one, then another and so on and then all of them looking at me. And that is not because I am such a nice guy it is the food. I guess. I also have a couple of Danio rerio and they never look at me and I feed them as well so perhaps the loaches really like me 🙂
Love my YoYo's! Always active and inquisitive and hungry! So cute swimming upside down to eat food on the surface. And murder on snails. I have lots of trumpet snails.... but not as many as before!
I just received a "gold zebra loach" from a friend who couldn't provide and temp control in his tank, he's doing fine now that he's in my tank. Not knowing much about the fish, I started looking up loach videos and came across this one. while watching I noticed the striking similarity between my new loach and the yoyo loach. Are the gold zebra loach and the yoyo different names for the same fish, or just very close relatives?
They are very cool! I have one that is about 4 inches in length and Iintroduced a much smaller one. Unfortunately, apparently, the larger one ended up killing the smaller one so I have not introduced any other yo-yos. I wish I could because I realize they are a hierarchal fish that prefers grouping...☹️☹️
I got 5 yoyo loaches now & I love watching them play more than anything they are a mess. I got a live plant at a Pet store when I got home there was a fish in the water got asking around what it was It was a YoYo never heard of one till now,& wld not trade them for nothing them are my buddies now. I name them YoYo Momo BoBo HoHo LoLo..
I've 2 Yoyos and they both love to sleep either on their sides or on their back, so much so that when visitors see one them sleeping they tell me that I have dead fish i9n my tank. They think it's quite comical when I tap the glass and they wake up and swim away! When they're awake they never stop moving, it's as if they are "super charged"!
One of the reasons I love these fish!
I have 3 of them and I remember when I saw one of the on the back i thought that's, when I tried to get him out he just swimm away. My 3 years old love watching them, they are so active all the time.
I've had one for four months, TodayI have seen hit attack and kill two guppieas and a beta. What do I do? I put it alone in a small aquarium.
nice I would like to know what pet store may have one of those awesome fellas
PETCO
Cool , I want some!!
I have one yoyo loach. Once I can I will get one more.
I love my yoyos!
Also they are not social among themselves,
Their color fades because of territorial disputes among themselves eventually could die,
best to keep one yoyo loach per tank.
Will they eat guppy babies?
I'm asking the same question and whether they also kill and eat adult guppies.
I bought a yoyo loach a couple of weeks ago and added him to my nano tank. After a few hours he came out of hiding and was quite active. After 1 day he managed to jump out of the tank through a small gap in the lid and he died. I went and bought another one and added it to the tank. This one is very inactive and is always laying on its side. I read that this is normal behaviour but the 2nd one behaves so differently to the 1st one.
So yoyo loaches eat snails. My tank is infected
Yup, Sa'ad, these are aggressive snail eaters. Cleaned out my infested snail tank in a matter of days!
What do zebra loaches eat?
ill need more i have only one
A question?? I have Yo-yo and Clown loaches the last few days they aren’t eating and are “rubbing” the sides of their bodies on the gravel. Two of the clowns are 25 yrs old all the others are about 6 yrs. Anyone know what this behavior might indicate?
why my yoyo loach always make a hole?
Because he love you so much!
Cool video but the loach you showed at the end is not a yo-yo loach it’s actually called a zebra or tiger loach!!!
The loach in the still shot is Not a *Botia Striata / Zebra Loach* .
Not known to eat snails, they are designed to eat snails with their tendrils.
cool fish i have two of them and there so much fun to watch and have if you wanted to sex them how is that done- how can you tell if you have male or female's in your tank
The male has a penis and female doesn't.
Do yo-yo leaches kill and eat other aquarium fish? My guppy population has steadily decreased since the elimination of the snails in my tank.
