I have to commend you for doing this. I had always wanted to do that, but never would of had the guts especially to the extent you reached out to educate people and your costume. Market Street is great, but it looks like it was windy, and of course there's a lot of weirdo's on market Street. Good job!
Love it. This idea is the best thing since "Free Hugs"! And it warms my heart to see people jumping in and playing. But it looks like your players have all played before, and it's not really exposing newbies to D&D. I think the Mortal Kombat-esque costume really puts people off. It makes it seem like either you're crazy, or having a joke at their expense. Why not try it in regular clothes?
man that takes alot of guts to do! which although is scary as hell makes you wanna do it. And goodness it must have difficult to shout over passing cars and buses while trying to teach people about the game. Respect!
Awww man, wow. I was thinking while I watched this how so many people kept ignoring you and then those first two dudes go "Sure, we'll play" and I was thinking "Woah, those dudes are so cool and open minded." Then I started thinking how everyone in life is so secluded and wrapped up in their own world that they are too scared to open up to others and THEN I read your top comments talking about exactly what I am saying. I just had one thought after that. D&D is a very spiritually awakening game.
The closest I have done to this is playing in the dorms in the cafeteria during the largest traffic levels. I will have to do this again. Running a game of epic proportions!
This is so awesome, Interesting to you maybe, if you go to the average goth festival you will find people roleplaying, though in general it's a lot of white wolf games, but still I suppose it counts...
I was thinking on doing something this, But sadly its winter, so ill end up playing in the spring in downtown winnipeg, come join us sometime if your headed to your northern neighbour.
It would be excellent to see you here in my city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Go to AMKE's website. It is Anime Milwaukee, the convention of Milwaukee started at the University, it would be awesome to have someone like you visit.
Emperor of Evil Halloween costume ; ) Is that in fact a Haloween store in the background? The thing is try this in small town Midwest. You'll get arrested lol This is par for the course in SF. Maybe too normal lol Are we playing for $? Incentive would be the customary Cheetos and Mountain Dew giveaway. Pretty cool idea. The map and shark look great. Love the d20 necklace. Ill be doing this on on 12/12/12 : D
Pretty cool, I am not a big fan of 4th edition, but have wanted to give it a shot. If your ever in Toronto, give me a shout! Assuming I don't have school that day, would love to play some, I'll bring extra dice ^^
If you have ever been to San Francisco, most people ignore you. If you try to ask for directions you are ignored. It is just part of the culture there.
@sboxjunk Or maybe they were on their way to do something and couldn't be bothered? It's not like people just walk around looking for random DnD games in the street
its stupid that sooo many people think dungeons and dragons is for kids and that its for geeks. Dungeons&Dragons is awesome. my friend told me i had to play it at least once. well... i fell in love with it when i played it for the first time.
I wish the video was more about playing and less about people walking away. I actually said, "oooh, fiendish tyrannosaurus" out loud. I know a DM who wears a hood like that, but not the face mask. -val
how many players did you have that day? do you remember? looks like you had some playing, come on down to Independence Missouri, I'll play with you, i usually up for pnp action... take care man, keep on gamin'
This is great. But I think the costume turns people away more than the idea of playing. I get the love for dramatics, I've been know to throw on a cape every now and then. But if your trying to attract new players who have never played before you should just wear normal clothes. LOVE the d20 necklace though! I've wanted one of those for some time now, just can't find one that isn't stupidly expensive or crappy looking.
Lose the outfit and just smile alot. You'll get more players. I had to stop playing way back because too many players were taking it to far...it's a game...not a lifestyle. The lifestyle folks just push out the normal gamer crowd.
Speaking for myself, I would stop and play if the guy wasnt dressed like a idiot. This type of crap is what nearly destroyed the game in the early 80s, which is people getting way too much into the character either by dressing up or not leaving the game mentality at the table.
"Sorry I’m late, I met a gamer on the street and we spent the next 8 hours slaying monsters" ☺
right around the corner from where I worked, wished I'd have left the office that day.
"There are no limits in Role Playing Games...Except the rules!"
I lul'd at that.
Riddle78 time number one- have fun!
that was AWESOME :D I love how it illustrates that once people start playing it, it's actually really fun and absolutely entertaining.
How doesn't this have more views? I guess this is just one of those gems.
come to Madrid!! we'll play with you to d&d !!! awesome
Absolute awesome!
i love old school role playing games !!!!!!!!
thats amazing
Once you got that first guy to sit down, it suddenly seemed like everyone wanted to join in. This video makes the nerd in me very pleased. Well done.
Jason, like a fine wine, only gets better with time.
Bro, please come to nyc...lol I would play
I would play, hell I wanna play D&D and MtG now.
I would play!
Lol come to London!

Awww man, wow. This was obviously meant to both mock and differentiate a true dyed-in-the-wool nerd.
The closest I have done to this is playing in the dorms in the cafeteria during the largest traffic levels. I will have to do this again. Running a game of epic proportions!

That is cool. Nothing like this happens here.
Come to my city! I'm asking You!
Anton from Novosibirsk, Russia.
So fucking epic. What a great way to evangelize the hobby! Good job! :D
Noble Bear hell yes
I was thinking on doing something this, But sadly its winter, so ill end up playing in the spring in downtown winnipeg, come join us sometime if your headed to your northern neighbour.
Very rad. I wish someone did that near me.
It would be excellent to see you here in my city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Go to AMKE's website. It is Anime Milwaukee, the convention of Milwaukee started at the University, it would be awesome to have someone like you visit.
He’s gotta say “roll up a character”
People love dice and decisions
ALL HAIL THE STREET MASTER!

Pretty cool, I am not a big fan of 4th edition, but have wanted to give it a shot. If your ever in Toronto, give me a shout! Assuming I don't have school that day, would love to play some, I'll bring extra dice ^^
Even though MtG is more of not really an RPG, but it's still epic!
please for the love of god come to san diego
haha this was pretty sweet
If you have ever been to San Francisco, most people ignore you. If you try to ask for directions you are ignored. It is just part of the culture there.
I live there, its fucking shit. I wish I lived in a cool place like North Korea or the Artic!
That's cartoonist Jason Shiga (BOOKHUNTER, DOUBLE HAPPINESS) at 3:07!
theisotope !!!
You are welcome to Moscow!
@sboxjunk Or maybe they were on their way to do something and couldn't be bothered? It's not like people just walk around looking for random DnD games in the street

I more like GURPS, as a system. But it is a beutigul idea
I wish i was there.... I woulda played... I have a D20 necklace just like you. X3.
Oh yeah, COOL FUCKING VIDEO!
I would have so skipped work and played.
I agree, I would not play 4th edition, as I don't like it.
Lose the outfit and just smile alot. You'll get more players. I had to stop playing way back because too many players were taking it to far...it's a game...not a lifestyle. The lifestyle folks just push out the normal gamer crowd.
Hehe,I hate 4th edition...It's just made to make combats over combats...I prefer when it's 50/50(roleplay and combats)...
Speaking for myself, I would stop and play if the guy wasnt dressed like a idiot. This type of crap is what nearly destroyed the game in the early 80s, which is people getting way too much into the character either by dressing up or not leaving the game mentality at the table.
