I live in Virginia also, and I have had people do the same thing to vehicles that I own. One guy in Amherst if my car for over a year, charge me a couple of thousand dollars for stuff that he didn't even do. Worked on the engine, I said he did head gaskets for it, I trusted the guy I never checked behind him until the engine start messing up again. I had car going over by another mechanic and that's when I discovered the other guy had not done anything that I paid him for. It's sad that people run businesses this way, what goes around comes around. They will get it back. I'm sorry for your loss. That is heartbreaking. I love the old Ford truck

Man in Texas to get a good paint job you need to pay at least 10k if you paid 3 in Texas you would get probably about the same thing so maybe you should just up the budget sorry for the truth but just being honest 3K doesn't get you nowhere here!! Check out my white truck 3K just to get five spots fixed!! But don't get discouraged man I know how you feel people just don't take pride in their work anymore. I've had so many projects go south because other people's work I just started learning how to do everything myself I know time is a factor that's why it takes me so long to put up new videos of my truck. BRO, MY SYMPATHY TO YOU, I WENT THRU A SIMULAR SITUATION WITH SUPPOSEDLY A PAINT AND BODY SHOP, MY TRUCK SAT THERE FOR 8 MONTH IT WAS STRIPPED DOWN AND BATTERY WAS STOLEN UNTIL I GOT TIRED OF WAITING FOR IT, SO TOOK A POLICE OFFICER TO RETRIEVE MY TRUCK AND I GAVE THEM 1100 DOLLARS AS A DOWN PAYMENT WHICH I NEVER GOT BACK, I WAS TOLD I COULD TAKE THEM TO COURT BUT THERE WAS GUARANTEE I COULD GET MY MONEY BACK.
3K is not much for body work we all know that but probably the body shop promised full body work and paint for that price just to get the money and im sure is not the first time the body shop do this.

You know? I was with this guy on the fact that these people screwed him over, but after I saw that trim in the scrap box it didn’t make me happy. I’m just a kid trying to take the summer to restore my 79 f150. I would’ve gladly given him $150 for that trim compared to the $25 he’s gonna get in scrap

If you want a "SHOW TRUCK" be prepared to buy new Fender and expect to be paying anywhere from $7k for decent work up to $15k for "SHOW TRUCK" work It's not the end of the world at least you have a base to start off with fix the dents left on it sand it down, block it, replace the rusted parts take the bed off, take the glass off then find a reputable shop to redo and repaint it end of story

I painted and did body work on my dad's 68 mustang in autoshop class and did a better job then the guy he paid like 7,000 to for paint and body he got wat you got pretty much and I remember asking him if I could take it to school and paint and do body on it since the motor was rebuilt and he said sure I couldn't eff it up anymore then the guy did so I painted it and did the body work took till the end of the school year but I drove it home and told him to come look he loved it I felt so happy he was jumping for joy and he won 1st in a Local car show and 3rd in a outta state show

wow. that's just terrible. 3k for a full body job and paint with jams it a "to go to be true" price. seems likw he just lied about body work. 3k for a prep and paint is still really really cheap. Full body work and paint for 3k is just unheard of. usually just a quality respray with jams, even without body work is usually around 5k.
Here in Phoenix a show quality paint job with that amount of metalwork would be at least $8k on the low side and $15k+ on the high side. Just paint and materials cost around $2k. Having said that I feel for you but you get what you pay for.

Body work was not done on that bed and did you tell him you wanted that hole fixed on that fender? because i fix what you tell me too . I tell by body shop buddies all the time get everything in writing and go over the list before the customer leaves the shop so we both know what is expected. So these kind of situations do not happen. Now that i have looked at the video again what this guy asked for is more than a 3000.00 paint job he had at least a 1000 in body work alone.

Yes its start all over, that engine will never be an engine in a show truck, you got to strip that back down to the block, the engine compartment is just a mess. THe bed, doesnt need body work it needs the panels replaces. Every panel can be replaced, and then patch panels at the very least. But ya sorry bud, but Id sell it as is cut your loss, cause your never going to be satisfied with what you got there. Start over with a new vehicle. My suggestion is sell cut losses and get new truck. Or start stripping it down to frame and go from ground up that is only way your going to have that vehicle in show truck quality.

Strip him all the way down and sand him to bare metal or get some aircraft stripper. Coat everything with etching primer and shoot it with Rustoleum Satin black #7777 from home depot. It will look great! You will appreciate it even more when you put your own attention to detail to it.
