Tim died doing what he loved doing.
I salute and respect you, Tim.
You taught me to respect and fear tornadoes.
So I say, thank you.
And rip.

Why did he die?? I'm concerned

RIP Tim Samaras. Thank you for your brave dedication to improving the science of weather and increasing the warning time before a tornado.
how did he die?
@@shreyaaashree he was killed 13 days later due to the large tornado that hit El Reno, OK

Never seen a tornado, I hope I never do. Videos are enough for me!
Same. Accept in uk we haven't had one for soo many years.
+LapisGamer__ WELL PREPARE FOR JUNE BECAUSE IN THE UK THIS YEAR, THERE WILL BE FLIPPIN TORNADOES. ALL BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER.

Sadly, Tim Samaras, his son Paul, and Carl Young, all in the same car, were killed 13 days after this video was recorded in a historically violent EF-5 tornado in El Reno, OK. It was the widest recorded tornado in history. Correction: This tornado earned an EF-3 rating because it was a rural area and there were no structures in the path strong enough to have estimated the maximum wind speeds with confidence.
mstalcup rest in pepporonis
Wow, really
mstalcup a
Except that it was an Ef3 officially, because the tornado “didn’t do enough damage”. The Fujita scale is a joke.
@@shadegona2066 Yeah. It was 2.6 miles wide and had winds up to 302 miles per hour. It was an EF5 and I don't care what anyone else says
RIP Tim. I know you can’t read this, but I want to say a huge THANK YOU for sharing your life, your knowledge and your expertise with all of us who love and are fascinated by the weather.
When I think of the all-time greatest storm chasers in history, Tim, Reed and Hank come to mind. You’ll always be a legend to me. You were the Steve Irwin of storm chasing and many of us will never forget you.
May you be in the big sky, enjoying seeing tornadoes form from the top down
They are dead now. Mr. Samaras and Mr. Young were killed by a tornado in El Reno. Their last words:"We're going to die, we're going to die."
Yes just googled it. Sad but there is laways going to be danger doing that kind of job.
Jason Meyer where did you read this??? wow...rip...
I couldn't remember if Tim died in the Moore, Ok tornado or the El reno tornado. Thanks for answering the question you never knew I asked!

The guy died doing what he loved...he was amazing.
Damn.. this was posted just 10 days before they died.
WlatDsieny What?
Tabbymon Glitcher If you didnt know. the people who filmed this (as credited in the description) Died just 10 days later by a tornado.
WlatDsieny Ha that's strange
+Timothy Xiong Well, if we want to be technical, Tim Samaras was killed 13 days days after filming this tornado. This was filmed two days before the EF5 in Moore, Oklahoma. The El Reno, Oklahoma EF3 in which Samaras was killed occured 11 days after the Moore tornado.
In all honesty, the El Reno tornado probably was the most dangerous tornado in history if it hadn't hit rather remote areas. Not only was it the largest tornado on record at a whopping 2.6 miles wide, but it was heavily rain-wrapped and windspeeds in one of the sub-vortices was recorded at 302mph, making it an EF5 by windspeed but officially EF3 in damage because it didn't hit very populated areas. The reason Tim was killed was that the tornado suddenly changed direction and then the rain hid it from view until it was too late.
GamerFromSaturn, yes, EF5 winds but the rating of a tornado is based upon how much damage it causes. As Kermit said, it didn't hit populated areas which means catastrophic damage associated with EF5 winds did not occur. The damage El Reno caused was powerful enough to be an EF3, but not enough for the likes of an EF4 or EF5.
Nature is so beautiful and dangerous at the same time.
It's beaugerous.
yes it is
Girls like bad boys.
So true
Just like you🤣
Tim and the team did a great job getting this video captured. Amazing how the wind sounds pick up before the funnel touches the ground.
It's terrifying to think you are watching the birth of a tornado from a distance not knowing one is also forming above you.
Wait can you further explain? -someone from California
posted 10 days before he died... RIP Tim Samaras
What happend
He died while chasing the El Reno tornado. To find out about the actual tornado, just search up El Reno Tornado Documentary because there are a couple out there and they also include his death.
RIP Tim, Twistex was so much better than Reed and company. You were in it for the science, not the money. That is why I followed you and respected the hell out of your work.
Even the best in their field can get too close sometimes. And when it comes to chasing tornadoes, one time too close is one time too many. We're going to miss you Tim, Paul and Carl. Happy hunting.
Nature is always the one with the power. Always. We are just visitors here, and have far less control than most of us care to admit.
Samaras was an amazing scientist, self-taught, and one who gave his life to help learn more about tornados.
It's so amazing the way a tornado forms!
I like how tornadoes remind us of how small we are
He is my ultimate hero in tornado science.
Rest in Piece Tim. I will always remember your name, and what you did for the stormchaser community.
I live in Chicago..... we never see these so to me it's interesting
I live in Kansas. And I can say without a doubt, tornadoes.fucking.suck.
+Rohan Thompson yeah i live in texas. There has been plenty of tornado warnings and siren the past few months. The siren is freaking scary

Pia Tshering no they died. 13 days after this vid from the el Reno tornado
People think storm chasers are just adrenaline junkies who go to take pictures but they're literally recording vital information
It's amazing how flat the land is in that region of the U.S.
+Ryan Shah Nebraska and Iowa is pretty flat too
+Ryan Shah What amazes me is that a tornado hits, they wake up, rebuild, and wait for the next one. Rather than moving the population to better regions
That's their home. These people live and work in these states, why would they move?
Ryan Shah Because it'd be smart.
+Jesus Peralta yes because droughts, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and tsunamis are so much better

When I was a kid I was at a drive in theatre with my cousins watching the Disney Hercules cartoon. A storm hit and a tornado dropped close by. I remember the sirens going off. There was no time to react. The van was shaking and sides were lifting back and forth off the ground. It wasn't enough to sweep the van up and off but it was terrifying. The strength is unreal..
We Miss you guys.... But now your chasing Tornados in the sky. 💕
Tim Samaras has always been my hero
Thank you for such an educational video. My 4th period really loved it!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RANDOM TORNADO.
Who else just looked up that just so you know what it looks like there's a tornado warning that says to take shelter and I'm just watching his videos.
Nature is awesome and so powerful.. just wow.
Today, I was at the playground with my friend at school. I had a Tornado last night in Ocean County. So, of course I was looking at the clouds with my friend. We saw a faucet looking thing, we called it. And then we looked behind us. We saw a funnel forming into a tornado, spinning. We were scared so we went back inside to take shelter, I don’t know if it was a tornado.. we’ll find out tonight! My mom said it might’ve been a HURRICANE!!
It probably wasn't a hurricane because hurricanes form in the ocean. It was probably a tornado.
Where is Ocean County that you’re referring to?
wow I have only been through a tornado once and it didn't even touch the ground THIS IS BEAUTIFUL
I loved the footage. R.I.P.
thank you national geographic
America, where we get tornadoes hurricanes earthquakes volcanoes blizzards absurdly high temperature absurdly low temperature and everything in between.
Just like every other country in planet Earth...
@@MariaMartinez-researcher Hurricanes happen almost always in the western hemisphere and they tend to go north towards the US. Tornados happen very often in Mid US, because of the cold air and warm air from the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf of Mexico respectively. Also, death Valley in Nevada is in the top 3 hottest places on earth.
@@Bono9850 Hurricanes are a system of low pressures that causes huge storms. They can be found everywhere in the northern hemisphere where the conditions are appropriate, and are called typhoons in the East. There are also other kind of cyclical heavy storms called monsoons.
In the Southern hemisphere there aren't such big systems only because the continental mass is lesser, but you bet there are also big storms and floods, which cause heavy damage on a regular basis.
Tornadoes aren't an American exclusivity. They are found in Europe, South America, anywhere where the proper conditions are found, now more with the ongoing climate change. As for wildfires, Australia, Greece, Brazil, Chile and Russia have a few things to say.
I highly recommend you to watch or read international news, so you can be aware that USA is by no means the only victim in the planet of natural disasters.
Chilean here. We are famous for the driest desert in the world and having had the strongest earthquake ever. There are tornadoes in our south too. Now I am writing in Buenos Aires, under a heavy storm with thunder and lightning, which here is just regular spring weather. The neighborhood where I am has a plaque in a nearby park in memory of the victims of the flood that killed a bunch of people just a few years ago. Mind you, this is a middle class neighborhood, with solid architecture and good services.
Wish me luck. 🙏
That tornado formed quickly 🤩

R.I.P Tim, I respect your sacrifices.
I would like to stay in the spot where the tornado is gonna start before it reaches the ground, then Im going to run after 5 sec waiting. I hope I survive. Will I lmao?
when i was 3 i wanted to be sucked up by a tornado...
When I was three I thought tornados were works of fiction.
The winds that suck in things start from the ground up.
the winds blow the cloud so it because faster and faster it go to the ground it
+Danish Kasmin no. Hot moist air and cold dry air get together and create a funnel. The then the clouds start to rotate. Then RFD pulls it down.
This is why I am happy living in the Rocky Mountains. Much respect to these guys though.
I always want to experience a tornado
+Noman Jaffar well, go find one and chase it... unless you live in tornado ally, you'll most likely never see one voluntarily.
HINT: Do NOT go chasing storms in your twin turbo RWD sports car like dumb ass me and then get HIT head on buy an F1. Your car (and insurance agency) will hate you for it.

I absolutely hate tornados. Are they the most destructive disaster? Probably not. But they win the award for the objectively most terrifying disaster to experience. The formation and movement of that funnel cloud is unmatched.
Feeling the need to chase a tornado is beyond me. But thanks for the research and footage
Nature is so beautiful and scary

2:05 Omg, that was really lit!
I remember a few years back, I asked my mom, "I wonder if Arizona would ever get a tornado." That exact night, we had tornado warnings, including an F2 that hit a town ~50 miles away.
And now, we're having a streak of earthquakes since the tectonics plates near California are heavily active. A magnitude 4 point something woke me up one night. Be careful, Cali.
i was on 66 and a tornado was forming, but i guess it decided to not form lol. Then later one formed down in golden valley and actually hit the ground.
