Hi Kent. I spotted the radiation tester on AliExpress and thought that it would be interesting for you to take a look at. Looking forward to the teardown! I included "From Neil H" in the address to give you a hint as to who sent it! 🙂
Hi Mr p.o.s thanks for a great year of videos, I'm looking forward to another year of watching you. I wish you and your family a very happy and joyous Christmas.
Those push in LED's are great for so many projects. The one you had looked more of a pink colour than a cool white, but I have seen them in virtually any colour you can want.
I’ve gotten used to using imperial and metric units because you never know which one you’ll run into. Practically everything I own was made in china so I had no choice but to learn the metric system in order to work on anything.
Thoriated welding rods are a good radiation test source, A ionizing smoke detector will give some clicks. Really old glow in the dark radium clock faces give quite the big buzz. The tube in that one is small and more suited to large sudden doses rather than small long term doses. Or go hang out at a dentist or vet's office. Radiology at the hospital might have a few warm spots too.
Radon is more prevalent than anyone thought 20 years ago. Lots of research going on in Western Canada. Levels are relatively high in my area. I have purchased an airthings radon detector to monitor the ever changing levels in our home.
So far after several days of this tester running the levels have stayed as low as they were showing in the video. Other places have less favorable geology, though.
Radon checkers are cheap (or free) and accurate. You open a small can, leave it open for the time they instruct you to, put the lid on and mail it to the lab. Best way.
LED is kind of overexposed to see the washed out colour but it looks to be pinkish purple/ magenta , like the colour of your sub counter/ LED matrix holder in the background but washed out. Maybe its just the signage thats bleeding into a white LED? I doubt it, i could see the reflection of the pink light on your skin.
I bought a similar model with a knob instead of the touchscreen for this reason. But to be fair I haven’t tried the touchscreen so I don’t know if it’s good or not.

Thank you for your donation, and apologies for not giving you proper credit in the video.

"Temperature in, well, Celsius and that other thing." 😂
Your southern neighbors just cringed as we laughed.
that's ok, we cuss C daily in usa

Nice haul.
🎅Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone🎅
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Kent. Looking forward to more and different beer in 2025.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years
Thanks for the mailbag. Happy Holidays!

Just purchased these a week ago using one already. I use them after circuits are bread boarded.

happy holidays! enjoy the videos, always interesting.
LOOKS like they want you to build more 'scratch built' projects and less kits. 3:52 they should send the sockets too.

I was looking into that, but teh post office was on strike for most of December, so I'd put it off.
1:52 I went off the cheap headers since I got some unsolderable from cheap distributors.. steel.
You can get Radiation Emitters in some Smoke Detectors.
If you have any old green glass, you can use the radiation tester to see if it's "uranium glass".
Happy Newyear!
That meter doesn't say it detects Alpha radiation, which is what Radon emits. But as others have commented Radon detectors are cheap and available
I see the Kaiweets continues to evolve
Kaiweets sent me the same model also to me, I just received last Friday! It's a good improvement based on the previous model km601.
I like the big screen on this one, but I'm still less of a fan of the automatic scan feature being the default mode.
@@pileofstuff I have the same opinion. Because this feature make the multimeter a bit slower

You will need to dig out an old Colman Mantle for testing the Geiger counter. Nothing like inhaling Thorium when we were young /-:
I remember we had one of those a long time ago when I was a kid.
It's been years since I've come across that type of lamps.
What part of that old type of lamp is radioactive? Is it the element wick-net things?
@@GnuReligion The cotton bag the heats up has a coating of Thorium. It has to be one of the really old ones since the new ones don't have Thorium.
@@GnuReligion Yup. The "mantle" that the compressed gas treats like a wick.
you could use the radiation tester on 70s 80s smoke detectors if you have one in ya basement or so
The only time I had ever seen DMX used in a commercial environment was a nightclub and some DJs.
Most theatres and concerts use it, though these days, it's used in conjunction with Artnet due to the number of universes needed for most shows.
strip club?
@@TheUnofficialMaker Probably. It's been a while since I've been there and looked at the lighting.
Maybe hightail it down to Bulk Barn and check the radiation of the brazil nuts.
The automotive leds look pink on video 😅
For me too!
Thanks. It's always a risk for me to try and identify the colour of things.
My eyes always lie about colours.
@@pileofstuff That is why we are here. The truth is out there..... or in this case. Here.
There are lots of sources for radioactive materials that can be obtained easily and legally. Many youtube videos as well.
hi one way to test the radiation detector is using common everyday bananas or less common tungsten welding rods
Table salt!!!
Try a smoke alarm, they have some sort of radiation thing in them
you could talk to a dentist or Xray tech to test the counter
Good idea. I'll bring it with me next time I get my teeth checked.
Try a bunch of bananas or a bag of Brazil nuts to test your radiation detector. Should be able to get to a few tenths.
The screen in these multimeter is so gimmicky, i like the space used for something useful, also these screen are really bad in general.
Their meters with the monochrome screens show up a lot better on camera.

Radon in the basement are not something new.
Of course. But it was in the news recently in my city, which got my wife's attention.
@@pileofstuff might be time to move to USA
@@TheUnofficialMaker I'll pass on that offer.
@@TheUnofficialMaker We have radon in the US also.
