Glad you have the patience. 😆😎 Screen printing; First day, first class, Soldering Practices. Instructor holds up a PCB (NE555 + two Transistors, LEDs, etc.) with Soldering Mask. Straight away I spot the mask is inverted, polarity on the chip and transistors is reversed. Put my hand up and pointed out the error. Instructor says, best air force tech's designed this blah blah blah... Mine was the only one that didn't go up in smoke when tested. He docked me one point on every project there after, citing I was a smart-ass. 3yrs later he retired, and I was offered his position.
This is a very nice kit! Glad it worked out. Last time I had to solder that many LED’s by hand, I gave up lol. They were SMD as well, I kept reversing the polarity.
Thanks Kent. Happy holidays to you and your family. That is a lot of kit. I built mine months ago, the LEDs do take some serious time, but it is a fun kit. It is a good excersize in patrients before doing more costly and complex projects. Take care.
The problem with those LEDs, and segments in 7 segment displays, is they are white when off, and without a tint to dull them they standout nearly as bright as lit LEDs.
yes!!!! building a clockfor the end of the year. would this be a two beer build?????? just kidding. i'm wondering if there is an app, there must be, to read a bunch of resistors....... happy 2025 and best of health to you.......

Nice kit. I like the big digits, As we get older it sure makes it easier to see
A very - timely - project. 😀

If people don't realize "Pile of Stuff" means "components everywhere" that's on them! Looks like a fun build.
Umm, no.!
"Pile" is a definite 3 dimensional object.!
"Everywhere" is a non delimited mental construct.
I've been using blue-tack for years to do the same thing 🙂👍 and god bless whoever initially thought of it 👏😁
Great little kit, but very dim display.
Many thanks for all of your videos throughout the year.
Take care and stay safe,
Joe

Nice build 👍 but I think I'll pass on a clock that can only be used at night when I'm asleep 🤣
Nice clock kit. So many LED's though. LOL.
Have a wonderful New Year.
I was just about to go to bed 🤣 it's 6.32am here in Ireland 🇮🇪☘

your typos were a good exercise for my patience , happy new year
@@jyvben1520 Happy New Year!
Thanks for another great video. Have a great new year 🎉🎉

i have several different colourblind helper apps on my phone. None of them give consistent results on the tiny stripes on most resistors.
@@pileofstuff sorry to hear none of the apps helped w resistors..........
For extra thrills try one of those nixie clock kits specifically Nixie Tube Clock Kit DIY IN14 (With tubes) and Wooden Enclosure. Also arduino powered
To improve accuracy, replace the DS1307 with the DS3231 from AdaFruit.
Great vid now print a 3d case have a great new year,.//.,
23:34 a light dependent resistor contains cadmium sulphide. Is it even legal to sell non RoHS products in Canada?
As I understand it, photo sensors have an exemption within the RoHS regulations.
Though, I'm far from an expert on the full regulatory structure.
Funny the Seconds "Digits" are not working ??
Why don't the Seconds work ? When you did get them to light while setting it seemed like some of the LEDs were not lit
Seconds must not be observed in China I guess.
This kit was designed in Canada.
@@pileofstuff So what happened to the Seconds Display ?
@@lasersbee Not sure. I assume it's a software setting (that I don't understand).
The segments all light up in some modes.
