Your absolutely right, ownership doesn’t make any sense when we are looking at or dealing with an entity that we all worship which is believed to be beyond mankind and the cosmos itself. But the ownership, is mainly in today’s world, to fedralise the tangible object which is used as a conduit between us and the entity since we are part of a certain government structure and less of a heirloom or kingdom structure. It was said in ancient times a powerful sage called, Parasurama purified the deity at the end of the previous Yuga (or Age almost 5000 years back) for the next Yuga assigning the responsibility and care of the temple to 5 families in the south. It is due to this reason, the tradition is handed down is carried through generations on as it was outlined by the great sage, probably to protect the sanctity and the mysteries of what this temple may hold in its depths. The temple is said to have been mentioned in the Mahabharatas many times so it’s definitly much much more older that 5000 years. In today's context, it's very hard to predict what these vaults might have held within them at this time scale and what we might have let out.

There's a difference between responsibility and ownership. Kings were responsible. The Brits and their successors aka today's politicians are owners.

Im from Thiruvanathapuram and i studied about Padmanabhaswami temple for my research , this gold and diamonds were the wealth of Travancore Kingdom, in 1750 the King of Travancore Anizham Thirunal Marthandavarama surrendered his kingdom and entire wealth to their family deity called 'Padmanabhaswami ". Then he became the "dasa" or servant of this deity and ruled the Kingdom. After this incident the Royal family members and others feudatories scared about the wealth. Because this became God's owned, so they were not created any type of problem related with royal wealth and power. That's why this wealth is still survive. It's a great move of political and diplomatic by Anizham Thirunal Marthandavarama Maharaja.

I don't believe ownership makes no sense ..one has to take the ownership to take care and prevent from future unprovoked challenges or events..though govt does not take ownership of other religious places or their temples but still india is holding above 80% Hinduism or sanatan dharam in total, so it's our duty to protect it and preserve it. And I also believe we have soo many ancient history engraved beneath them which needs to be explored and protected at the same time , for that someone has to take the ownership and government is the best authority right now.

So basically no one has really explained this properly but, the actual owners of the temple are the royal family of travancore(the region where the temple is located) and they were the ones fighting against the decision of opening the vault, i assume they know what is inside and no one can really open the vault cause it can only be opened with a mantra chanted at a specific frequency, (it's a lost mantra that no one knows anymore apparently) there's no key holes or anything of such sort on the door. Many of the treasures were donated by the royal family and other kingdoms from around the world. Still to this day every month (or day not sure) the king from the royal family goes to the temple and donates 1 gold coin. This temple is really old i mean very old, easily a thousand years old no doubt. The royal family takes care of the temple to say, but it belongs to Lord Padmanabha and not any government or anything, and it better stay this way

i don't know know what's behind that vault, but its definitely something really bad...just imagine.
    - whoever built these vaults predicted that humans later would fall into the trap knowing it would be a trap.
    - thats why they filled the first few vaults with treasure, so when we open the first vault, we find huge treasures, now we get greedy and want to open the 2nd vault, more treasures....like, it goes on for 4-5 vaults...
    - now the greed level is off the roof, and then they make the 6th vault hard to open, stories of curses etc....ven without greed, the mysteriousness of this would build curiosity, now add this curiosity to the already existing off the roof greed..."what's so special about this vault? if these prev vaults had this much wealth, this mysterious vault might have 10x that..." and therefore opening it and falling into whatever trap was hidden in there...

Ownership is necessary cuz it is a Hindu temple where daily rituals are done, annadanam is done daily, the deity is living there for you. From 3 in the morning till evening pryers and finally putting the deity to sleep, there are many rituals. There are rules to be followed, and someone has to take ownership. Lord Padmanabha is the King of Thiruvananthapuram, the kings call them Padmanabha data, meaning servant of Lord Padmanabha Swamy. They have safeguarded the temple for all these years and they have every right to do so.
The communist govt should keep out of Hindu temples. Period.

its like the family or the trust or anything u wanna call it will be held responsible for conducting all the rituals maintainance it the temple is a famous one then the tourism aspect n all...
if the gov owns it (ik it doesnt sound secular but) the revenue is never used for the development of the temple itself but mostly donation for church or mosque building... iam not claiming it ppl are the proof of it...

People go against govt taking over the temple's treasure because once it becomes govt, even the other religions can benefit from Hindu wealth. And in India, there is a controversy because the govt controls Hindu temples and sometimes tax the temples, or take in money from the temple giving various reasons such as Audit Fees, Disaster Relief Donation etc. The govt controls the properties (huge areas of land is owned by temples) of the temple and leasing it out at meagre amounts. The revenue of temples are siphoned. And because of all this, other than the famous and big temples are finding it difficult to meet daily rituals. The temples are not allowed to run religious institutions and other religolious activities.
All this while other religions are allowed to use their properties and wealth as they wish.
So, there is a debate that the govt is not following real secularism. And if temple treasures are taken by the Govt and used by the general public that will create another outrage.
And by the way as per law, temple properties cannot be sold. As per Indian Law, the deity of a temple is considered a legal person with rights. But is considered a minor and the Temple Trusts or the Govt run 'Devaswom Board' takes decisions on behalf of the deity as a Guardian. Since the property belongs to deity, it cannot be sold without His/Her permission and as the deity will always be a minor, there is no real legal ways to sell temple properties. But people who have political powers usually try to find loopholes in it. Also most Hindus are not really aware of these things and there will not be any counter actions against this.

Stop spreading nonsense about things you do not know. Padmanabha swamy temple has been traditionally owned by the Travancore Royal family as they considered it their deity. They moved their capital from Thiruvathar to Ananthapuram for this temple. They built the infrastructure in Thiruananthapuram city centered on major sites connected to the temple. They anoint every child in the family as Padmanabhadasa or Padmanabhasevikas and they consider Lord Padmanabhan (Vishnu)as the ruler of Ananthapuri. They come to the temple everyday to report to Lord Padmanabha. The so called treasure that has been amassed in the treasury is claimed by The descendants of the family ( the nieces of the last maharaja) to be the property of Lord Anantha. All the palaces that were the property of the Royal family were turned into hospitals and important institutions which were later taken over by the govt. For eg SAT Hospital for Women and Children, Kerala University, SUT Hospital, sCT Hospital , sCT College, Maharajas College for Women and so on. My father used to talk about Sreechithira Tirunal Maharaja who used to visit the temple daily in the morning, his car very familiar to all. The maharaja was the epitome of simplicity. A man stood waiting and bowed down everytime the car passed by. One day, the Maharaja stopped the car, and told him not to bow before him as he was not the king any more. The man refused, saying he did so out of respect to the man and family, not the position. After his death, we saw his younger brother do this. Even now, the family is very simple and highly selfaccomplished. There are writers, singers, painters in that family that has brought great acclaim to India. The govt. which is Communist, wants restrictive laws for Hindu temples and controls Devasom Board which treats temple management as a political thing and not religious. So, the govt. Is saying that the money and treasure is govt. Property and should be given to the political authority. This is because padmanabhaswamy temple is under a private trust and govt. Cannot control it. The Royal family argued that they are mere caretakers of the Lord's wealth and it should belong to him. Several politicians ridiculed the family, alleging that the maharaja was stealing. But the fact is, they have been the true custodians and that is why all of this was intact. If it had been given to the govt., it would have gone to personal wallets. Now about the treasure itself, a committee with experts and members of the trust, entered each chamber and documented whatever was found. There are ample interviews of these people talking about what they have seen.( Check out oru nagarathinte kadha)Prince Aditya Verma has himself has talked about vault B. He said there are no intricate snake designs on the door. The first door of vault B has been opened. There is another door inside. According to the vidhi, there needs to be a particular puja that needs to be done before opening it. There is no tantri (expert priest) currently knowledgeable in the puja vidhi to do it. There is also a lore that there is immense danger to Trivandrum city if it is opened. Thus, the Royal Family decided not to open it. End of mystery.

I am sorry but I don't believe in a word this Praveen guy says. I saw some of his other videos where he gave "sources", but upon checking he just manipulates facts to hyper-escalate hinduism. Sorry, I am a serious follower but not this praveen guy.

BEWARE! I would like to tell you that Praveen is a pseudo archeologist, so don't take his words seriously he is famous because he over praises and exaggerates evidences to make them look like alien and futuristically advanced just like other pseudo archeologist.
There are many other great archeologists and historians who will show you the beauty and genuine advancements of ancient India and all of South Asia without all the "it looks like something so it must be that thing" nonsense.
People get way too emotional with things that shows our past but don't put the effort to find if the information is even verified, this is why pseudo archeologist like Praveen get away with their ear pleasing mumbo jumbo.

5:00 I guess more than owning, originally, it could've meant as who was the last person ultimately responsible for someone/something. Now, obviously money is much more important to our government, but having the right over something also means being held responsible for it.
