Erik here! Thank you to all of you, and to the New Rockstars team, for letting me take this time off to spend with my family and we welcome this baby into the world... and try (and fail) to get sleep! If you haven't already, please watch Jessica's amazing breakdowns of the first six episodes of this season. You'll be seeing more of both of us on NR in the new year!
I find it pretty funny how Hela went through Loki's character development in like 1/20 of the time it took for Loki's character development. It was pretty awesome to see Wenwu and Hela interact
To be fair, I can’t tell if you’re talking about how short an episode is or time in universe. In Loki, the entire season one… is 1 week. They both had very short but impactful character development😂 also Wenwu and Hela are amazing together. I hope they’re in the GOTM
I mean it just it took Loki to watch alll the events that transpired in the mcu that Involve in minutes of the episode compared the amount of time we spent with in the movies
But then who would the villan be for the finale? We have to wait till the release of both the next episodes and the finale to be released to find out....

I think Hela is still the Goddess of Death. Death isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s all part of the natural process. Hela’s armor being white could also be a reference to white being the color of death in Chinese culture.
Seeing as how Hela’s older than both of them, I’ve now often wondered what it would be like for Thor and Loki once they grow up and how they would interact with their now glorious sister.
Thanos definitely would of been beaten sooner seeing how he didn't want to fight Odin You basically got Hela, Thor , and Loki who together are probably as powerful as Odin if not more
@@Chuck_EL I would understand that, Odin outright confirms this in Thor Ragnarok upon Thor facing Hela at the final battle, so to combine the efforts of all 3 children of Odin would be an even greater way to expand this concept.
Loki will probably become an Ice Giant, because Odin will not be able to take him from his home world because Hela changed him now... Only Thor and Hela will be the siblings in this universe
I think that the transition to English is similar to in Way of Water, where we hear English because everyone understands the language. They're not speaking English, but we hear it as such because both Hela and Wenwu understand the language.
@@rvds2040 in the beginning of the Marvels when Kamala and Carol are swapping, Kamala is falling out of the sky and just before impact Carol swaps in. 10/10
I really enjoyed this episode quite a bit! It mixes completely different sides of the MCU together perfectly, and a lot of really cool stuff came out of this episode. My highlights of this episode were the action and especially the final fight because that was really cool and well done! Props to the animators for animating one of my favorite final fight scenes in the MCU! 8/10!
Wenwu responding in English is to indicate they're both speaking the same language and not subtitling the whole episode, not that he speaks English (which Hela absolutely would not have been speaking herself).
What is very interesting is that Heimdall was there during that time period. I always assumed Heimdall was born after Helas banishment and began his watch during the time of Thor.
When you mentioned Zeus it made me wonder. Did he know of Odin? Did they meet? What did he think of them? Would be an interesting topic to cover or be covered at some point in the MCU perhaps.
In Love and Thunder Zeus recognizes Thor as asgardian and says he thought they were all gone when Odin died. This means he has to have some knowledge of Odin and has tabs on him to know he died
This episode was beautifully put together. Hela’s arc in the episode was shocking and well done. The team up with Xu Wenwu vs Odin was epic. Very good stuff. S2 of What If…? has been a great step up.

I interpreted the quick turn back to conquest from Odin as him not yet having had to sacrifice for the wisdom to know when to stop. He hasn't lost his eye yet and hasn't had those hard won battles.

Hey Erik, Welcome back! Congrats to you and your wifey, on the little kiddo being born!!! I'm so happy for you two and hope everything is going great! Love you guys at New Rockstars! Happiest of Holidays to you all!
I think Odin from this universe feels he has absolute Dominion over the 9 realms. That is why he scolds Hela at the beginning for wanting more. It’s less of a switch in attitude and more just Odin knowing what’s his and what’s not.
I noticed Odin still have both eyes. That means he hasn't hung himself on the world tree and sacrifice an eye to receive all the knowledge and wisdom, which would have helped him in dealing with Hela. Maybe he lost between exiling Hela and Thor being born.
Not entirely sure how someone of one culture inviting another person to partake in that culture is cultural appropriation lol, since how else is someone supposed to experience and enjoy another culture if you're not supposed to even when invited and told it's acceptable
