I’m getting the feeling that the Open 1st gen is going to be better than 2nd Gen, purely because they put everything into there entry into the foldable market and may get a bit complacent with their next gen. Just saying. Great video as always and very entertaining.
I like the concept of a foldable - having a tablet on tap for media, but would question the longevity of a folding screen. I don't think I can justify spending £1,000+ on any 'blower' when there are plenty of more than capable mid-rangers available (as demonstrated by Chris each year).
I'm really hoping that the Find X8 Ultra comes to the global market, otherwise the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be the only global release with the LYT-900 and HyperOS 2 does not excite me in the slightest.
The OnePlus Open is my favorite phone. But I honestly don't use it that often because I didn't get a warranty on it. So it's really been relegated to a travel phablet so I can carry less devices, while I daily an iPhone or Pixel. It has the best hinge of any folding/flipping phone I've used. So here's hoping it continues to get even better.
@bloodhoug82 just really good at getting those pre-order trade-in deals. My iPhone and Pixel together cost maybe $15 a month on my phone bill. My S25 Ultra I just ordered was $550 with a trade in of a Z Flip and came with the Buds Pro 3 free as well. My OnePlus Open was definitely the most expensive, though it was $200 off and another $200 for trading in a literal old Nokia.
@@bloodhoug82 oh do you mean like down payments? Literally never made a down payment on a phone. Just traded in phones when they offer stuff like trade in this and get a free that. Those Samsung s25 phones must have been as fun as pulling teeth out of your skull with a pair of pliers without the anaesthesia of a whisky kind huh Uncle Spurt?
I don't know, I think I'd rather have a bigger camera bump if it means having the biggest sensor possible or better optics. I'm not saying to make it bigger like a lense, but not reduce it in size from last years model. Instead make better use of the same space.
The 7 core version is most likely for heat management. The 8 elite is a 3nm chip and cramming that much is indeed very hard to cool, and you've seen other Chinese foldables having extremely reduced performance from gaming overtime due to lacking cooling, so this is a good thing.
I just recently ditched my galaxy fold 6 for a OnePlus open. It's taking some getting use to but I do really like it minus only being able to get the 512 gb version. I am looking forward to the next rendition!
It's a pet peeve of mine, but I prefer the more boxy design of the Z Fold 6 in comparison to the Open (and eventually the Open 2). I don't like how when it's folded it's curved on one edge but not on the other! I'd rather they made the design less curved and more boxy like the Z Fold 6. How was the battery life of the Fold? Was that one of the reasons you switched to the Open? I was a OnePlus user for many years (2, 5T & 7) but then switched to Samsung (Note 10+) and finally Apple in 2020 (12, 13PM, 14PM, 15PM), but thinking of making the jump back, certainly to the Android world at least.
Think its a bit lame also. One thing that kept me from getting the pixel pro fold was its processor, wondered about waiting for oneplus o 2 but seems a bit of a compromise there too. Will have to see how different the benchmarks are
