    • @thomasknapp6434
      @thomasknapp6434 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Knickerson I think a lot of the third quarter "issues" is that the Lions have the last couple of weeks been trying to make the third quarter about "clock control," slowing down the game and burning up time. Which is fine when you've had the sort of leads that the Lions have had... it's never going to be particularly good to watch, especially when the drives don't appear to kill much clock. The Lions were able to spin things back up and get points when they needed it, which is normally the big worry when a team slows it down.

    I’m still extremely concerned with Barry as our D coordinator. MLF even said it’s the definition of insanity to keep doing the same thing over and over and that’s what we constantly see from Barry. I was hoping his streak of decent defense against the Lions would show through, but that definitely wasn’t the case.
    As far as MLF, I wonder how much the offense suffering is from him and how much is from Steno? I still think we have something in Love, though he has a lot to clean up. I love our young receivers, but we really have to figure out how to run and figure it out fast. This game is a perfect blueprint for other teams on how to get us down early.

    I'm not even going to chirp, Tom. I went through it last night. The entire gamut of emotions. Soaring euphoria, cold-blooded schadenfreude, spine-tingling catharsis, followed by a third quarter filled with post-traumatic stress and near despair when it appeared like Brian Branch was going to be seriously hurt. When you root for a team that has been cursed for so long, you're always waiting for the booby trap to trigger as you're climbing the tower. "What is it this time that's going to bring the whole thing down?" "We're up 27-3 at the half - what horrible thing will happen that will make us fall victim to a Vikings vs. Colts-esque comeback?" When the ball was knelt for the final time, I was almost shocked into silence. Sure, I felt relief, and an odd sense of tranquility, but also confusion. It's still hard for me to believe that really happened. After so many years of surprise blowout losses on the heels of promising seasons, more years of mediocrity involving the Lions being good enough to beat the scrubs but never the contenders, and even more years of just flat-out bad football, the Lions are finally legit. Like, legit legit. The window has opened. I'm smelling fresh air. I now know what it must be like for someone serving 30+ years in prison to taste the prospect of freedom.
    That gate has not opened yet. We're not yet off the grounds. But with this win, the release order is signed. I feel like now it's only a matter of time.

    I for one am happy for the Lions. As a Packers fan we’ve had so many decades of success but the Lions have been so bad for SO LONG. I used to talk so much crap to Lions fans but it came to a point where it got sad with how bad they were. I’m glad the Lions have someone like Dan Campbell where he actually cares about these dudes and it’s showing on the field, those dudes are damn good and I hope them more success in the future, especially under Coach Campbell.

    The Packers haven’t had a run defense in like 20 years. It’s not just coaching , it’s organizational philosophy and roster construction. There’s a reason the same teams (Chargers) are bad against the run every year. They go light and fast on the line and that means you’re gonna get bowled over against strong run games. Very impressed by Packers performance thus far, did not expect them to be anywhere this good. Love’s not getting enough talk on the sports channel.

    The lack of physicality we play with is something that drives me nuts. It seems like every time we make a tackle the runner is carrying someone for an extra couple yards after first contact. This is a reoccurring issue that has plagued us for so long. Not only is it extra yards for the offense but it's a mental win for them as well. Watching how the Saints tackled last week left a lot to be desired for the Packers defense. We just seem like we're a flat team that is lacking any juice right now and it's been that way for awhile now.

    I think this was a game that set the future of both teams, one team is going to have its turn taking over the division after countless years of being left in the cellar, and the other team is going to have to face the fact that they're no longer contenders, and will need to adapt and develop slowly into something new. I think the people saying "cut Quay, bench Jordan, fire this and that" are going too extreme, and like you said, this team needs to learn what is positive and negative, and to build on that. It's a new era in the NFC North

    I appreciate the honest assessment of the game and of the GB team. From afar, in his time as HC I have seen LeFluer as a really good offensive coach, Rodgers or not. Defensively, it seems he doesn't seem to pay as much attention, maybe leaving it to others too much or something. It is a LeFluer historical problem the way teams run on the Packers. It's getting to a point where one has to assume it's a LeFluer coaching philosophy problem more than anything else. GB hasn't been a "knock the snot out of you" team for quite some time and now they got one in their division. What to do?

    It's been a while since the Lions were favourites in this matchup I reckon, and they played like it. Lions teams of the past might have faltered when the Packers gave it a try in the third quarter, but not these days. As for the Packers: you cannot expect to hang with a really good team with only one decent quarter and three bad ones. Injuries are a factor for sure, but that alone cannot explain the amount of mistakes and poor play. The Packers can do better and I hope they will. The Lions on the other hand are just a joy to watch right now and it's great to see them be good at last.

I know the Lions were trying to milk the clock, but it was costing us with very long third downs where we were still throwing to a receiver 5 yards from the line of scrimmage. The Pack O line just ran out of gas with Hutch jumping in and out of gaps and Buggs decided to have the game of his life tonight. Same with the Defense, 40 rushing attempts between Gibbs and Montgomery and most of the rushing straight into the interior of the line. Lionel does finally get to wear the suit, but there's a lot of season left for the Pack to find their identity and Thanksgiving isn't very far away. Always a pleasure to watch your channel bud

    I knew this fanbase wouldn't react well to this season. We are in a rebuild, this is what those look and feel like. I've never really been through one but my whole family is Vikings fans and they go through it 2-3 times a decade. So we shift out of "win now" mode into rebuild mentality, this means instead of freaking about every loss and demanding every player get benched or cut, you rejoice over the wins we do manage to get and deal with what problems we have now with eye towards fixing those things in the future, as in next season, not this season.
    Edit: oh yeah Barry's gotta go. Our defense is supposed to be about set as the offense needs more resources now, we really can't afford to pour even more into it after a decade of giving the bulk of the attention. So Barry's gotta go.

I think if we keep looking like how we have in the past two weeks, especially in the first half, then Matt’s seat gets hotter and hotter. This was a huge game and I feel like the past few years big games have just not gone our way and I think coaching has a lot do with that.
