Batman 251 Five Points Market, Akron Ohio 1973. Batman 237, my mom got it at the Summit mall and brought it home to me cause I was sick at the time. It goes on and on. Massive loss.

The Ali cover was awesome but to me your #2 and #3 were by far the best, with Superman being number One as it really showed the world what a superhero would look like in the real world. Adams is legend
The Ali cover is one that I have always loved since I was a child, so there is definitely boas there. I agree on the Superman cover. Absolutely legendary stuff from Neal.
@@michaelcalabrese2960 Yes it was. Joe was around since the beginning of Marvel and played a huge part in shaping the industry as well. I only met Joe 2 or 3 times unfortunately but he seemed like a really nice guy.
@@ILikeCollectibles You can sense Batman's shock as Man-Bat just looms there. The lighting is great and it almost gives me vertigo just looking at it.I appreciate it's hard to pick a Top 10,though.
Good video and good choices. With SO many amazing covers, not sure I could come up with a top 10. In addition to the Batman, Superman and Green Lantern titles, which you covered some great issues, he also had some amazing runs on Spectre, Deadman, Aquaman, Tomahawk (#116 is superb) and many others. Your #1, Superman vs. Ali, would definitely make my list. But speaking of Treasury editions (and wrap around covers), what about C-51??? That would definitely be on my list too. Neal Adams is a legend and will be sorely missed.
So well done, I cannot argue with this list at all. I own each of these books and signed by Neal. He was very giving of his time at conventions and it was an annual thing for me to meet and talk with him. I always told him when I close my eyes it's always his Batman I see when I think of the character.
One of my favorite books in my PC is the fly #4. Neal Adam's teenage pro work. It's a book that took some serious looking for. And when it came in and I flipped to his panel. I was just so happy to own history. RiP Neil
@@ILikeCollectibles absolutely do..and I picked up a lower grade copy last year as well. So both of those books are gems for me. For any Neil fan. I'd recommend to hunt a copy of fly #4 down. I watched a interview with neil a few years back. And he spoke about that book. And gave the story. Where his panel was used over the legend jack kirby.. Just an amazing story and again piece of history.
Great list Greg! So many great covers to choose from! Neal Adams is definitely on my top ten list of the greatest artists of all-time. I wish I could have met him and picked his brain.
I can confirm that Neal didn't like the leg on Superman #233; he told me the same story as he signed my copy. I agree on the #1 spot on the list. I had Neal sign my Superman VS Ali as well as my first X-Men, #60. I also had him sign some Bat-Man, Avengers, Savage Sword Of Conan and Dracula Lives #3, and Legion Of Monsters #1. I met him 3 times and got to chat alone with him on two of those meets by finding his table early in the day before conventions got busy.
That's awesome. The first time I had a full conversation with his was in a similar setting it was a comic con that was low attendance and I took full advantage!
1.Detective Comics #400 2.The Phantom Stranger#18 3.Green Lantern/Green Arrow #6 (80's reprint the '70s comic with new cover!) 4.X-Men #58 5. Batman #232 6.Batman #234 7.Green Lantern/Green Arrow #1 ('80's reprint on the 70s comic with new cover) 8. Batman#227 9. Batman #251 10.Strange Adventures or #213 Batman #221
Think you should flip your list Batman 227 although inspired by Detective Comics 31, Neal's take on it exceeds the original. And Ali vs Superman is a ridiculous premise that isn't all that artistically creative just 2 boxers fighting that's just the premise for the story. But great choices for the list even if I disagree with the order.
Thanks for your comment. I love the 227 cover too. Really is one of my favorite. For the sake of the video I put it lower but I probably should have had it a bit higher. The Ali cover is one that has a lot of personal meaning to me. I remember seeing it as a kid at my local shop hoping that one day I could buy it. Well now I have one and I couldn't be happier about it.
I just saw this and i met Neal Adams several times at conventions. Anyway batman 251 is my favorite cover unless you include treasury editions. Then superman vs ali is the best cover and i would say non batman comic he ever drew. Great list!
Joker's left hip really bothers me with Batman 251. The disjointed appendage looks so weird, much more weird anatomically than Superman's left leg in Supes 233.
Nice to see a tribute to the great Neal Adams but there are some inaccuracies; 1) GL #85 did not "usher in the socially relevant in the GL series" as the SAME book was already dealing with many "SR" themes by the time it reached this particular issue. 2) This comic was NOT the first to tackle "what no other book had done", since Spider-Man had tackled this subject earlier in May of the same year &, famously, caused the Comics Code emblem to be withdrawn in response. 3) What about his Marvel covers?! Not ONE was mentioned! X-Men? Avengers? Conan? 4) Neal's covers to Deadly Hands of Kung Fu (#1, 3,17 etc etc) were WAY better than these early (though famously collectable), efforts! Great to see him being recognised anyhow.
Thanks for your input! Much appreciated. What was funny is that I am typically a Marvel fan boy, but I thoroughly enjoyed Neal's DC works. I think my issue with the deadly hands was inwasnt a big fan of the series in general.. so yes there is certainly bias in my list. Again, thanks for chiming in.
