- What kind of range does Dimash have? It has been a question thrown around the internet and quite frankly everyone says it's one of the biggest ranges of any singer they have ever heard of. Congratulations, you just witnessed the greatest vocalist alive. He’s from Kazakhstan, sings in 15 different languages (speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently, some English, and a little Mandarin), plays 8 musical instruments and is currently working on his PhD in music. He was 22 in this performance and is 28 now (only gotten better). He’s been training since the age of 5, has a 6-8 octave range (depending on who you ask) has absolute pitch, and is an amazingly humble man. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a singer and producer. He sings every genre (even raps) He has many recent performances, but I would highly recommend "Sinful Passion" 2018 and then "Stranger" 2021, "Ikanaide" 2021, "Adagio" 2017, "Ave Maria" 2021. Dimash sings in all genres of music, he now has a 7 octave range, beautiful in every register. He has so improved since this performance from 5 years ago.
Dimash is incredible. Many professionals consider him the best vocalist on earth. Not only for his range and control all over it but also cause of his many technics and more importantly his capacity to move and connect with people. Dimash sings many genres: pop, rock, folk, crossover, opera and even raps a bit. He can do that cause he chose to stay independent. He wants to be free to do what he wants. His art and freedom are more important than money. This is only the beginning, you have a lot to discover from him.

He has been in music school since he was 5 yrs old. He was trained in classical. A lot of his music is pop-opera. He can do any genre you can think of. He even raps. (He listens to Eminem. 😄)
I think he recently hit a G6 in his head voice.

This was during the first series of"The Singer" competition in China. All.contestants are Chinese professional established singers and Dimash was invited as a.wild card foreign contestant (Dimash is from Kazakhstan, part of the former USSR). He doesnt speak Chinese and was the only foreign contestant on that show. He opened the series with this performance of SOS (a french song), and the following day, it garnered 600M views and Dimash became a superstar sensation overnight in China. Dimash is considered by many to be the best technical vocalist in the world. "Ahead of his time." Yep, you got it. So far, he sings in 15 languages, and you're right that it doesn't really matter to our appreciation. And guess what. He's gotten better over the last five years. He constantly pushes himself to do more and is working on a doctorate in music composition. Great review. The Chinese show, "The Singer" or "I Am Singer," is several steps about the idol shows. The contestants are all professional singers invited to perform. No hideous auditions or tacky comments from judges. The studio audience determines the winner. This was the first episode of 2017. At 22, he was the youngest contestant. He turned 28 in May.
He has a masters in Music Composition, and is working on his PHD in Musicology! Get your facts right please!

The great thing about Dimash is he does many different genres, sings in many languages although fluent in only his native Kazakh and Russian with English being a very close third due to his hard work. Sinful Passion by Dimahs is an absolute must. It is in Russian but has subtitles. He also does a killer cover of Lionel Richie's Hello.

Simply the best vocalist of all time... No one has mastered so many registers at this level in one person. It is not only that he dominates all the registers and the vocal range

Dimash is not only good in this or that field, in this or that aspect of singing, Dimash is the field of sound, Dimash is a totality, this is no longer just about octaves, registers of whistles
(as you will hear) or even more than a simple, immense and vocal technique, Dimash has a universal voice. To be clear, his voice is like what in biology is called a stem cell.

The best comment from a Dear under the first video: „If you are having a bad day, remember, someone had to sing after him.“ 🤣 That one moment when a vblogger first hear Dimash and is instantly mesmerized by it... priceless and beautiful to watch. I love it!The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RUclips ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won).

There are no boundaries to his vocal abilities, his control, his stage presence, his emotional intelligence. He has star power but displays true humbleness. He is kind, modest, respectful, generous, thoughtful, shy, intelligent, funny, spiritual and a humanitarian.
Dimash was only 22 years old when he opened and won the very first episode of the I Am Singer Chinese show in 2017 with this performance of SOS - a showcase competition for well known, professional Chinese singers, with a voting audience of 500 people from the music industry. Dimash was the youngest and the first foreigner ever to be invited on the show (as a wildcard) and, as a total unknown in China, he wasn’t expected to last more than half the show. He astonished everyone, came second in the competition, an overnight sensation in China (600 million views of this performance) and a global phenomenon. He turned 28 in May.
Dimash is university trained in classical (bel canto) and contemporary music and has been training (voice and piano) since he was 5 years old. He has degrees in voice (classical), contemporary music, completed a Masters in composition and is currently completing a PhD in musicology. He was offered a position with Astana Opera but declined to follow a career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music.

The best singer on the planet without a doubt. All genres- all styles - all octaves! And not a shred of 'star ego'. You are right that he is in a league of his own. You are also right that there is a real spiritual connection that he makes via his artistry. Dimash was raised in a very traditional community oriented culture where both parents are well known singers, and where he understood, from very early age, that with great gifts come great responsibilities.
His music crosses all land, culture, religious, language boundaries. As you observed. you don't need to understand the words to understand the emotion. (Although, if you had the version with English captions - you might have been in tears also like some of that audience, because the story / the lyrics are asking : How do I make sense of all this business about being human" "Why do I live? Why do I die? I don't seem to fit into this world"

Again; you guys GET it about Dimash. Instantly. He too says all music and all performance is about storytelling and that his voice is 'just one instrument' that he brings into the equation. One of the things that is also striking about Dimash, and very much appreciated by all, is HIS appreciation and respect for all who work with him to create these masterpieces. As an opera singer myself, there is simply two words that explains what he can do: Classical training. The thing he was smart about was that he was training from a very early age when he was no doubt a boy soprano. It is the only way he strengthened the chest, through the head voice and into that boy soprano register. The Russian countries (Kazakhs are within that sphere) are deeply respectful of their classical roots. No matter the genre of music they pursue, they learn their craft from a classical level and branch out from there. Glad you're both fans of Dimashland.

He is so stunning in his vocals from 23 years of classical/operatic and contemporary training, he puts American slackers (I am in that group) to shame. He has trained hours and hours a day not only on his vocals but his instruments he plays.

He is proving that music has no borders, it goes beyond language barriers and has a powerful effect on us. He sings to make us feel better than before we heard his song, he wants to 'distract us a litte from our normal routine and take us on a journey, to fantasy world'. More or less what he said in an interview a few years ago. I really valued your reaction, please continue with your Dimash journey. Perhaps you could react to Ave Maria next. All Dimash's music is cross-cultural. I love all his music and a lot of it is not in English. He is in my mind the greatest vocalist alive. You can pick any song he has done or any video he has done and it will be good. His fan base (Dears as Dimash calls us) is transcontinental and knows no boundaries. East meets West meets East without a problem. As a matter of fact I listen to mostly Eastern music now because of Dimash. I was introduced to many outstanding singers on the Chinese show Singer which this 2017 performance is from. Great first time reaction ✌❤😎

Dimash is very spiritual, ironically or not, his name means Gift from God, I truly believe that he feels that his purpose is to spread love, joy, peace and acceptance through his music and messages. I would suggest Stranger and Ave Maria, both completely different from each other but a great way to keep going with him❤️, Dimash’s fan’s are called Dears, just so you know, named that by Dimash himself, Dears are in over 160 countries all over the world. In some places Dimash is very well known, but the US, well we’re behind on this one, hopefully not for long with guys like you sharing your reactions.
I hope he never becomes like the majority of performers from and in the US - he walked away from THE WORLD'S BEST in Hollywood several years ago because he was left competing against 2 children - he was vilified by Ru Paul and Faith Hill - he stated very clearly but it was edited: "The pre-condition for my competing here was that i would not be competing against children" - it's against the Kazask culture - he walked away from a million dollars and gained countless fans in the US s a result - this man is not only the greatest vocalist the world has heard but he has chasracter and integrity seldom seen in those who are twice his age !
