    • @Jon908584
      @Jon908584 5 лет назад +6

      1. Whether a teacher/lecturer is effective in getting a message across or not is a matter of personal opinion. Some may not share that opinion.
      2. There are many things in this World that we do not understand. Don't despair.
      3. People who make negative comments are expressing their opinion. It is common in countries where the natives have pretensions to being free. These countries are usually considered to be democratic and significantly technologically developed.
      4. Yes indeed, some people do post rude comments on the Internet. Making a comment contrary to that of others is not considered rude especially if couched in polite terms. Everybody has opinions but sadly only a minority of the World's population have the freedom to express it.
      When I first set foot in the Kingdom I resolved to learn to speak Thai. After making inquiries at several Language schools I considered that the cost of doing so would not be cost effective especially in view of my advanced age. I have in passing acquired a smattering of the Thai language which is sufficient unto my needs. I have taught all the children in my Thai family to speak good, grammatically correct English and some have acquired a working knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry. I consider that it is more beneficial for Thailand that I spend my last years imparting knowledge to the youngsters that they are able use to make a comfortable living and enhance the quality of Thailand's work force, than becoming proficient in a language of limited vocabulary and not in use elsewhere.

    Thai language in everyday life is not as difficult as you think. The Thai language that Thai people learn is in depth Thai language.
    Such as royal language, a lot of poetry, important Thai literature or Pali Sanskrit language in Thai, death words, etc., which are rarely used in everyday life. So this is not too difficult to learn. Don't give up☺️☺️ Su Su สู้ๆ

      @ThaiPod101  6 лет назад +32

      Hello Hoangyen,
      Thank you very much for your comment and question. For the tone rule, first you have to be able to separate all alphabet in to 3 classes, Middle, High and Low, and then be able to tell if each syllable are live or dead (in case there is no tone mark). If there is a tone mark you will have to be able to tell which tone each tone mark makes with all the different class consonants.
      Here is a short description for tone rules.
      Tone rules summary
      Mid class ก จ ฎ ฏ ด ต บ ป อ
      With live ending = mid tone
      With dead ending = low tone
      High ข ฃ ฉ ฐ ถ ผ ฝ ศ ษ ส ห
      With live ending/ syllable = rising tone
      With dead ending = low tone
      Low ค ฅ ฆ ง ช ซ ฌ ญ ฑ ฒ ณ ท ธ น พ ฟ ภ ม ย ร ล ว ฬ ฮ
      With live ending = mid tone
      With dead ending + short vowel = high tone
      With dead ending + long vowel = falling tone
      Tone marks
      Middle class consonant
      With ่ maaiH-eekL = Low tone
      With ้ maaiH-too = falling tone
      With ๊ maaiH-dtrii = high tone
      With ๋ maaiH-jatL-dtaL-waa = rising tone
      High class consonants
      With ่ maaiH-eekL = Low tone
      With ้ maaiH-too = falling tone
      Low class consonants
      With ่ maaiH-eekL = Falling tone
      With ้ maaiH-too = high tone
      Live final consonants
      ม - m
      น ญ ณ ล ร ฬ - n
      ง - ng
      ย - y
      ว - w
      Dead final consonants

    It’s hard to learn here because the way Thai locals are speaking is different they don’t use the word (r) at all and instead they use (L) or cut the the (r)from the sentence which is hard for a foreigner to understand! U need to stay among the local Thai and learn communicating with them..

    Hello Jay, I just started watching this, It seems extremely difficult. I was wondering how Thai children get on with their Thai lessons?
    Also with the different dialects, can you speak all 4 fluently? and if you were to speak the northern dialect in southern Thailand, would you be readily understood or not. Thankyou Jay

      Just wanted to share my experience as a thai from the southern region. I dont use southern dialect in my everyday conversation but i understand everything when i hear people speak with the southern dialect as i was born and raised in the south.
      About a month ago, i went to the north eastern region with my friend who studied and worked there for 18 years. I got to have some luunch and dinner with my friend's friends wha are locals and they spoke with their north eastern dialect almost all the time. At that time i came to realize that, wow i hardly understood what they were saying.lol

      @@yotagarn3303 May I ask? How do you guys write name, particularly foreign name as Thai is tonal language? I do know that you write as usual when it comes to native name as it often refers to a particular word. 🤔

    • @yotagarn3303
      @yotagarn3303 6 лет назад +1

      @@cookieinhaler we actually have some rules when it comes to writing foreign words (especially english words) that we thais use like our own. For example the word percent, we have a correct way to write it in thai. But as i cant remember any rules now so its just up to how i want to write it.lol
      For names, i think we normally transliterate them. for example David, you will most often see it written in thai like เดวิด which is not its correct pronunciation at all.
      For most other names we tend to write them according to how we thai people actually say them in our own thai ways.

    สวัสดีค็าบ 😊🙏 ผมมีคำถามครับ. When and How to use the word "เนี่ย" and "โว้ย" in thai?

    • @老奴在
      @老奴在 5 лет назад +1

      Kristoffer Antonio I’ver never realized how hard Thai is until now. เนี่ย can be used in many ways. Mostly it is used as “เห็นมั้ยเนี่ย / เห็นปะเนี่ย” which mean “see?” And used with “ปะ” at the end of a swear word for example “บ้าปะเนี่ย / ปัญญาอ่อนปะเนี่ย / $%*@€ปะเนี่ย” and “โว้ย” is basically an interjection mostly used at the end of the sentence (I have to warn you both เนี่ย and โว้ย are not that rude but not polite tho) . Thai has so many words that don’t have meanings alone but are used to help sentences sound more beautiful, flow and not strange. I suggest you learn as a whole phrase or sentence, not a single word alone because some words have one meanings and can be easily translated but there are also words that can’t be translated as a single word. ( for example เนี่ย โว้ย นะ สินะ จ้า ล่ะ อะ งะ งือ ไง งี้ etc)

    • @bookbugstory
      @bookbugstory 5 лет назад

      used when feel annoyed + moody

    • @pujiacy
      @pujiacy 5 лет назад

      Kristoffer Antonio “เนี่ย” when you want to point out an obvious point. For example, “เห็นไหมเนี่ย” means “you see?,” but it is not that polite and is often used when you start to feel annoyed. “โว้ย” is also used when you’re annoyed and just use it for others to see that either you are joking or you are simply just annoyed. E.x. “เบื่อแล้วนะโว้ย” means “I’m starting to be sooo bored” with a connotation of feeling a little annoyed, just like the word “so” in this case represents.
