Fantastic interview. I was never doubting that it wasn’t the ambulance. But listening to the expert & how he knew certain things that clicked with this ambulance should make doubters believe. I’m a nurse & for whatever reason, I het so choked up when I watch these videos about the ambulance. I’ve seen a lot and you can’t break down. But, this is a tough one if you picture Elvis that day, knowing what they were trying even though he was probably already gone moves me to tears. Thanks for all your hard work with this. Elvis is saying to himself ( “boy, that guy never gives up. What a fan I have. “).👍🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎸🎸❤️
Billy, to some, it may not seem like a big deal that this Ambulance was saved from a scrap heap. But I guarantee you future generations will find it fascinating and amazing that it didn't get thrown in to the scrap heap of history. Imagine if we had the train that took Lincoln from DC to Illinois? The hearse that carried President Washington or Kennedy? These things matter. Especially to those of us who care about history. Thank you for what you are doing!
@@thomaspearce8424 It is quite something to see. And sobering. JFK was carried by a riderless horse snd caisson. I believe it is kept at Arlington National Cemetery.

Hey Spa Guy, I just wanted to thank you for all of your wonderful videos about Elvis. Your videos are fascinating and I truly enjoy them! They are very well done videos! Fantastic that it has been found, but I just can’t help feeling so sad about it too, after all these years, the day we are talking about is still so fresh in my mind, I hope that Elvis is indeed resting in peace, top job Spa guy
Just wanted to say how much I appreciate you Mr.Billy. You completely saved and restored perhaps one of the most important pieces of Elvis history. Your hard work is so very much appreciated. God bless you always and I look forward to visiting your museum soon!
Correct and at the time like what was said in the retrace video almost 6 years ago that it was so new at the time and it was parked towards the rear of their quarters behind Engine 29 also 9-1-1 at the time so you had to call 0 to get an ambulance to where you need it
Just confirming that this was indeed the ambulance that had taken Elvis from Graceland to Baptist Hospital in August 16, 1977. Cool Mr. Spa Guy. Thanks for tightening up and preserving Elvis' history. Thank the Smith family and all who helped in this project. Be safe and well in your travels. God bless you and yours.
There was no doubt in my mind you found the right one, and now Bill has confirmed it. I shared this video with others I know who are interested in this kind of thing. Definitely was intended to be a Chevrolet branded chassis as I stated by the VIN. The VIN decodes as C for Chevrolet (it would be a T for GMC), C for 4x2 conventional cab, Z for 454 V8 with four barrel, 3 for 1 ton rating, 3 for cab and chassis, 5 for 1975 model year, S for St. Louis, MO assembly and the rest is the production sequence. As noted, the Chevrolet and GMC versions of the same chassis were both made in the same plants (including St. Louis, MO where this one was made), so there's always a chance of both sets of badges like that. The "R.E.V." in the 1991 photo stands for the Ambulance body builder who was Roadsafe Emergency Vehicles which was around from 1972 to 1978. Eventually this would become "F.A.C.T." or First Ambulance Center of Tennessee which started around 1988, was bought out in 1992 and eventually went bankrupt. Eventually around 1995 they went out of business and then what was left of the company would become Select-Tech which is still in business today selling Ambulance parts and doing body remounts. The founder of Select-Tech, Steve Feldhaus worked for FACT for a time starting in 1978. This "R.E.V." is not to be confused with today's REV Group who makes Ambulances, as that company was formed in 2015 from a combination of other existing Ambulance builders. Today's REV Group owns Ambulance companies Wheeled Coach, Horton, American Emergency Vehicles (AEV), Leader, Road Rescue, Marque, McCoy-Miller, and Frontline and also owns fire apparatus manufacturers, other vehicle companies and recreational vehicle manufacturers.
That's very cool Spa Guy I like the way you do business, you're dotting all your I's and crossing all your T's to make sure everything is official and legit. This is great that you are preserving history. The reason fire apparatus is in good shape, is because they are kept inside a building til they go on a call.

That is absolutely amazing that you found that. Very impressive. I know a minor restoration would be good, but I myself with it being such an amazing find would be willing to do a full restoration to how it looked in 1977. That would be amazing.
Wow that's incredible to see. This gives me goose bumps. So that was the ambulance that gave Elvis his last ride. I bet he's in Heaven looking down and smiling. I'll definitely be there to see it and, hope to meet you Billy. Thanks for confirming it. You can fix the ambulance to working order but, please don't totally restore it. I think it tells more of a story that way. That's what Mike Wolf from American Pickers says.
Love your videos Spa Guy. 👍 You must come to Scotland 🏴 and visit Prestwick Airport the only place in the UK 🇬🇧 Elvis ever set foot on. The name Presley is supposed to originate in Scotland as well and I believe his family tree has descendants from Scotland. 👍
His last one alive would be the car he drove home the night before, and his last one after death would be whatever was used to transport him from the mausoleum back to Graceland for final burial a couple months later. This ambulance falls somewhere between those.
@@ThamiumOne I was referring to the bicycle Billy helped find in the smokehouse in Graceland. Elvis could potentially been alive in this ambulance, not in the hearse. But I'll wait and see if Billy says how he feels about it.
@@russellgay5337 - I understood the bike reference... definitely his first ride it's safe to say. As for the ambulance though- Given that his body showed signs of at least a couple of hours of tightening, with no vital signs whatsoever, that indicates a person is deceased in every clinical way. If you're found that way, you're well beyond life no matter what.
@@SpaGuy - I wasn't implying that the ambulance isn't important or significant, by the way. Whether or not it was his last ride in any way isn't the point anyway - it's what was used to try saving his life. It's an incredible find and it's only because of your work that it's not still sitting forgotten and deteriorating in the weeds.

Great to see it authenticated. I do respect your prerogative on not restoring it, but I feel like bringing it back to 1977 condition is the better choice. In my opinion, the Elvis fans, myself one of them, agree that it needs to be historical period correct, as a number of people would presume that it's being left as is to preserve patina, instead of a piece of rock and roll history. That's simply my take on it.

Don’t restore it[I know your not]… it will only be original once . because of it’s original significance in regards to Elvis Presley it would be a huge mistake to repaint or do any other major modifications.
