      He’s just always been a standout person. You rarely get that these days, there’s so many seeking clout, or some kind of controversy either on or off the field or both. Not with Buster, he was raised right and has what so many lack today, which is respect, honesty, integrity, just basically living and playing by the book of you would basically want to be as a person yourself. He is a great embodiment of what it’s like to be a great player but even more of one as a person and what all of us should strive to be more like in our everyday lives. I all carried ourselves more like him, this world would be a much better place

      @@chriscerta9821 This Giants fan agrees with you. In the end, they are just people, and Clayton and Buster come from the same type of background. Both are men of faith who are family men first and carry themselves as such both on and off the field. While I always hoped Buster hit a HR against Kershaw when they faced each other, I have never wished any ill will toward Clayton or any Dodger for that matter as people. I am sure most reasonable Dodger fans like yourself felt the same way in that you hoped Kershaw would strike Buster out, but never wished any ill will toward him personally. That is what being a fan is all about. Glad to see so many nice words from Dodger fans today. I hope us Giants fans return the favor when the likes of Kershaw or Justin Turner hang up their cleats! He’s not making the hall of fame. A career WAR of 44.9 and 720 RBIs not happening. Those would be some of the lowest totals ever elected for a position player. Only 5 players in history have been elected to the hall with 1500 or fewer hits. One died the year after he collected it. Still as an active player. I do agree with the fact his play was very good and on a hall of fame path the volume is not there. He had under 5,000 career at bats his batting average slugging% and on base % won’t qualify to even be a comparison as MLB requires a minimum of 5,000 to be considered in the all time totals for those categories.

    • @claytonreid996
      @claytonreid996 2 года назад +2

      @@early_crypto_investor4451 Id agree with except for this: When Buster retired, the entirety of the media and writers association, along with pretty much anyone who played with or against him said he was a HOFer. The two things people forget about voting is Winning and Character Judgement.
      Sure, the counting stats aren't Elite because of volume, but when taking into account he was an NL catcher (very few DH opportunities), who refused to switch to 1B permanently multiple times, the lack of volume is easily explainable. But, he was a consistent producer and the best player on 3 champions which does factor in to voting (albeit Bernie Williams still got screwed).
      Next is Character Judgement, and Buster is second to none when it comes to being a fantastic teammate and member of his community, he has done so much good for starving people and in particular Pediatric cancer, these also factor in.
      I love analytics, but there is a level of listening to the professionals and consideration for the style of career they had that needs to be done when talking about who is truly GREAT, and it seems to be unanimous that Buster is just that according to the people who admittedly know better than us.
      Your argument above for me works much better on someone like Lincecum. His 3 year peak of 2008-2010 was incredible, and he was statistically the best pitcher in the entire league in '08-'09 (led literally everything except IP). '10 he still threw a 3.10 ERA and led the NL in SOs. After that, he fell off a cliff. But, for 3 years he outpitched probably 7-8 HOF caliber people; Scherzer, Greinke, Verlander, Sabathia, Waino...etc. Timmy was HOF caliber but injuries shortened that to 3 years. So, for him I agree it is fair to say volume is a genuine reason he cannot be in the HOF. If you add all the context, I don't think it is fair to say that for Posey.

    it would be a joke if if he does not get into the Hall, too many times it is for stat compilers rather than peak performance, he was the best at his position for a decade , at worst 1 or 2 with Yadier Molina.Go Dodgers 2022 by the way

    I wouldn't be surprised if Buster is a first ballot HoFer. How many players can say they've won 3 WS and all the individual awards not to mention calling pitches in multiple no hitters and Cain's perfect game

    • @joebarr725
      @joebarr725 3 года назад

      Johnny Roseboro did some of those things (3 WS plus no-hitters and perfect game). He also won 2 Gold Gloves (Posey won one) , but he was not close to the hitter Posey is.

  • @SpidermanandJeny
    @SpidermanandJeny 3 года назад

    Well that was really nice and totally not something he had to do. But Posey hasn't ever been even close to ANY controversies except that he was the center point of the Scott Cousins/Buster Posey rule change. When healthy there wasn't a single bad thing you could say about his game and there was never a single bad thing anyone ever said about the man. Even as a young guy he did everything really well.
