On my combination instrument my bike reads 12 hours, but this hour/meter reads 14/15.. and my RPM were always fine. Is this because also meassures the idle time?
The Tusk Multi-Function Tach/Hour Meter allows you to set the number of sparks per revolution where the regular Tusk Tach/Hour Meter does not. The Tusk Multi-Function Tach/Hour Meter will also track on 2 separate counters the number of hours since last reset, so say you use one to track time on an air filter you can know for sure how many hours you had on it. This could be used for tracking how long it's good for under various conditions. The service reminders are separate of the Job trackers and they will count down and then flash on the main screen.
@@rmatvmc cheers man , one more thing please .. does idling ur bike with engine on wear out the engine oil and count as part of engine oil change time ? .. or is it only when ur moving (rpm) on the bike ?
I have a 06 Honda CRF250r... I have a coil on cap. I didn't realize it and wrapped the wire 6 times around the wires that go to it but the tach on the meter I got is registering 2200-2400rpms at idle with choke off and warmed up. Seems to want to die if I lower it to 1700rpms or so. SO I'm guessing this is why? I should be wrapped3-4 times around he base of the cap to get the correct rpm readings? Thanks!~
I'm installing on a trx300ex quad and the lowest rpm I can get is 5000 at idle. Should be more like 1400. Tried other settings and it only get higher. What could I have done wrong.
What setting is right for a 2-stroke YZ125? The video doesn't tell us what the settings mean. 1P1R, 2P1R, 3P1R, 4P1R, 6P1R, 8P1R, 3P2R, 5P2R, 1P2R? Nothing is mentioned in the instruction manual. View stroke stroke blink, if I had to guess it I would pick 1P1R. Assuming it means 1 piston, 1 Revolution. Still don't like guessing
Was installing mine and my wire is way skinnier and I couldn’t get the wire wrapped around it tight at all, any fix for that? Also my frame is painted and I cleaned it off but the sticky pad is barely sticky so it walls off
Plastics different from the ones you have on your bike currently won’t fit without some modifications. You need to get a plastics kit specifically made for your bike then follow the instructions.
Rocky Mountain ATV MC thank you for the response I buy a lot of products from you guys and have always had good service 👍 my issue is I have 4 spark plugs in a v twin it’s a 99 Honda shadow 1100
Wow, I had no idea you don't need any direct connections, good thing I made sure before I started cutting lol
Same for me.! I thought about buying a wireless one. But now I ain’t care haha !
Yea they are sweet been running one for years not this exact brand but still😊
Low key looks like Elon musk
Elon tusk
EL ion musk
Very professional installation, especially the hour meter itself, well done.
Yea I got a cheap on years ago off ebay it has not let me down I love it I might have to buy this one or the Wisco in the future
Does anyone else know why some of these videos don’t ever show up in my sub box? Is it a setting they put?
Yes, we only notify subscribers on bigger videos so we don't overwhelm your feed with every video we drop.
Thank you for watching!

Yes. This device records your idle time and time spent riding.
@@rmatvmcyes but idle time is not taken into consideration for service times 😥
Could i just use the same wire that my hour meter is currently connected to on my 2017 KTM 250 SX-F?

Tusk has 2 different models. What is the difference between the two?

Quick question, does the hour metre record minutes/hours when the bike is on but idling or only when u give it power and Ur moving ?
The Tach/Hour meter starts recording when the bike is on whether sitting/idling or moving.

@@Supernova869-s4iyes i have the same issue. My real hour meter on the bike says 12 hours. But on the tach/hour meter it says 14…

Didnt need to set the meter for 2 or 4 stroke?

it means 1 pulse 1 revolution
Would this be okay for the 2022 klr?
So you don’t have to tie the wire in anywhere, you just wrap it around?
That is correct. You just wrap the wire around the spark plug boot or ignition coil wire, zip tie it, and you're good to go!
Rocky Mountain ATV MC so it starts when feeling some kind of vibrations or how does it work?😁
TinkanTheMan I assume it works off of sensing current
@@JonnyJohnerson that's right it measures the pulses of the electrode coming off the spark er sumfin like that
@@rmatvmc so its battery powered the same as the cheaper ones, whats the advantage over the wireless ones?
Can I cut the wire shorter for a cleaner install?
You sure can!
why didn't he show it working after he was done ???
I need to get this for my 03 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4x4.
Do I have to use a zip tie or can I wrap electrical tape around the wire?
Electrical tape can work just fine.

Use RTV silicone Adhesive, works great and will last a long time.
Honestly, the mount is way more durable for the money, saves the risk of it falling off and getting hit if u fall
Hi do you think 2015 plastics would be a perfect fit on my 2002 yz85?
boozin_N_cruisin psn hey did it work bc I have a kx 85
Plastics different from the ones you have on your bike currently won’t fit without some modifications. You need to get a plastics kit specifically made for your bike then follow the instructions.
Probably won't fit your bike. If u wany newer style plastics, check out polisport.com and theh make restyling kits to make it look like a 2020
Nice! Will this work on a two stroke twin cylinder engine?
Yes it will
Anyone go without an hour meter? I don't care about resale and always on maintenence without one. If I clip it off will that cause any problems?
There is nothing wrong with uninstalling the hour meter on your bike. But it would be safer to take off the wire and not just cut it.
Will this tach only work with single cylinder or will it work with a v twin
This tech/hour meter only has one pickup wire but since the RPM will be the same in both cylinders, you can use this meter on your v twin just fine.

Why do you wear rubber gloves to install a hour meter
To make you question it. 😂 -Charles
@@rmatvmc hahaha yeah nice
I'm having a hard time understanding how it works without having to splice any wires together lol
It detects the electricity through the spark plug wire
It works by detecting the frequency of electricity. If I remember correctly it's 60hz.
@@GarbageDanks and it also has a battery internal which powers the unit.
@jacobhendrickson8935 so I don't have to replace the battery right?
To bad it didnt have a temp sensor also.
no switch ? it remain on all the way ?
only comes on when you start the bike
Love buy one
This guy doesnt blink lol
Screws were too short gas tank bolt sticks out too far
Same have u found a fix?

Thanks for being here and watching!
My tusk meter didn’t come with a double sided tape and the battery was dead. Not once. But twice. People buy hardline brand not this !!!!
