    I wish you would have shown putting the wire into the unit. It doesn't come attached, AND, wish you'd show actual installation on a bike or ATV.

      Your bike should use the 1P2R. It should be pretty easy to tell if you scroll through the options with the bike at idle. You will get abnormally high idle readings on the wrong settings.

    Is it possible to run the tach in a continuous mode, where it shows the RPM, but does not stick on Max?
    For example, when I rev it up to 3,000, and let it drop to 2,000, it reads 2,000 without resetting?

    I got a 2022 300 and I know it should be 1 pulse per revolution. But the tusk instructions say 2 pulse per revolution if it has a battery??? Seems weird it would be 2 pulses just cause it has a battery. Can you clarify?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 года назад

      You may have to go through the settings after getting it installed on the bike to confirm the correct setting. As you scroll through the different pulse per revolution settings with your bike at idle, it should be pretty clear to tell which one is giving you the correct reading. You will see very high numbers with the pulse per revolution set incorrectly.

    After in on a trx300ex rpm is reading too high. The lowest I could get was about 5000 at idle with 2p1r. The other two setting get higher. It should idle around 1400.

    • @Holgrinator
      @Holgrinator Год назад

      Seems like an issue with your unit if you know the rpms are lower. 2 pulses for 1 revolution (2p1r) wouldn’t be right for your 300ex. That would essentially be a spark every time the piston hit TDC and BDC. 1p1r is most likely as most 4stroke quads and dirt bikes actually spark every revolution of the crank. Once at TDC before the power stroke and once at TDC before the intake stroke. But Rocky Mountain has replied on other comments saying 2p1r is correct for typical dirt bikes and quads. It’s likely a Chinese product with a tusk sticker slapped on it so who knows. Many of their comments say to just try different options til you find one that seems accurate.

    • @roberthaberman9491
      @roberthaberman9491 Год назад

      @Holgrinator I think it was the unit. I switch to a trail tech and it works great. I was picking up extra pulses from being too close to other wires. I insulated it with some fuel hose. This got it down around 1400 but it would still fluctuate about 500 rpms up and down.

    • @Holgrinator

      @@rmatvmc that doesn’t make much sense. 2pulses of the spark plug per one revolution of the crank? So for a 4 stroke it’s makes an intake stroke, pulses, makes a compression stroke then pulses again (that’s one revolution of the crank) makes a power stroke, pulses again, then makes an exhaust stroke and pulses again. Each stroke is half a rotation of the crank. Setting it to 2pulses ever 1revolution is 1 per stroke of the piston.
